Jerry's still got Layne's back here, even if they hadn't spoken in a while. When they ask more detail about WHO Get Born Again is about and they pry, Layne says "It's personal" then Jerry immediately chimes in "Question answered." To this day, Jerry has never publicly uttered a negative or harsh word about Layne. The world lost a lot without their harmonies. 😢❤

Well said. Jerry wouldn't (possibly) have been the person we know without Layne. Jerry himself has said as much. Nothing but respect for Jerry for always having his brother's back.

I smiled at him being protective of Layne with that question, sorta like unplugged, he kept his eye on Layne with a big sweet smile and did a lot of the heavy lifting vocally, I loved how protective Jerry was of Layne when he forgot the words to Sludge factory, and when that audience member shouted, Jerry was very supportive of Layne trying again and he yelled back “you just get to hear more that’s all!” He smiled big nod to Layne and said “It’s been awhile, we get a couple do overs!” Layne missed Jerry’s big reassuring smiles toward him often because of how awkwardly the band’s chairs were put and was almost sitting behind Layne, but it was so touching to see how much they loved and cared about each other, Jerry kept an eye on him and the smile after “Brother” made me tear up. It was such a nice thing, while it was obvious it was pretty much over with the frail shape, nerve’s and how he was almost nodding a few times, and when he took off his sunglasses and looked right into the camera, his eyes showed so much pain, his eyes were almost black. and looked tired like he hadn’t slept in days, watching it back then at home I just wanted someone to hug him. His face structure changed so much, his eyes were so sunken, and hollow all the weight loss made him look so much older, especially the permanent stress wrinkle on his forehead, but I’m so proud they did it and while it was nice, it was heartbreaking 💔 I just wanted to grab him thru the screen and take him to rehab, he definitely wasn’t the same sweet, funny, force of nature Id gotten to see 3 times in his prime and hearing those powerful chest vocals, I kinda wiggled my way to the front, he kept coming over to the area I was in and had taken his sunglasses and shirt off by then, we had made eye contact 2-3 times and he didn’t slap my hand, just touched it lightly and I was the happiest girl with the biggest smile, then I kinda got pushed away from other fans trying to get in my place, and being 100lbs but 5’8” it didn’t take me long to get shuffled toward the back, I still look for that boot to see if it was recorded, the moment he touched my hand, he had the mic 🎤 in his other hand and was singing “put ya down.” It was an amazing show, I noticed he rarely, if ever touched hands, just stared down different parts of the stage doing the “staley squat” singing to fans, he laughed a lot and was in such a good mood that night, I never saw this band coming to an end as the playing, his voice, the harmonies were SO TIGHT, perfect, later in the parking lot my friends and I were so excited at what we’d just witnessed and kept saying “that was amazing, a band so tight they sounded better LIVE than on the CD!!!” I miss the innocence of that era and knowing Layne was such a force of nature, thinking he’d always have that VOICE! I still listen to AIC daily⛓⛓⛓⛓

I'm sure he was in somewhat good spirits, otherwise he wouldn't have called up to chat with his brothers. Regarding the sharpness: yeah I agree. He sounds chipper than we could have imagined at this point in his life, although I'm pretty positive he had to have shot up on some uppers. Heroin only makes one drowsy and definitely not this talkative. He could have been on crack too and spray paint or whatever. Not that it actually matters. People this far into their addiction usually shoot up about a couple of grams a day, depending on their current habits, money, state of well being at cetera - obviously. I've seen someone go from half a gram each Saturday to 4 grams of coke each day in the meager span of 2 months time. This shit is real and it screws you up. Unfortunately opioids are even worse and should not be taken lightly. Please stay safe people!

This had to be really soon after the release. He “looked like an old punk rocker” and Robert Trujillo was put in charge of him by Jerry and the manager because he would frequently use in studio. That black bag was his “goodie” bag. He even lied to the band during recording that his sister was having a wedding so he could leave and buy, but Jerry yelled at him and caused a stir that would later alter the recordings because of Layne and Jerry coming in late at night and changing things. There is a WHOLE LOT of band history just behind these two songs that pretty much sum up the history of the band altogether.
