I was a lifelong Duckfeet user but as I got older my feet just got too thrash. I tried DaFin but they never felt right. I picked up a pair of MS Viper orange dot and love them. Most comfortable fin I had!

eBodyboarding I enjoyed using the MS Viper fin for Drop Knee. The 3 points on the fin can be used to concentrate the kick at the end of the TAIL when Jackstance. (L)eft (C)enter (R)ight points of contact for balance and power. One Team

I just bought a pair of these and here are some observations: I have wider toes and find the fins squish my toes from the top and sides. However, I also have a moderately narrow heel, and the heel strap feels a tad loose. The bottom opening is also a bit bigger than other fins, which adds more looseness and discomfort as the sharp bottom edge of the opening of the heel strap digs across the bottom of my feet. The thrust is okay but definitely weaker than the V7 and V5. I have the stiffer yellow dot ones, and they don't feel too stiff to me. That may be due doing heavy squats and leg exercises that have built up my leg strength and muscles since the last time I bodyboarded in 2019. Despite what seems like many downsides, MS Viper's work well overall for DK and keep in mind every fin has some sorts of compromise to deal with. For my foot morphology and DK riding style, I think I prefer the Custom-X fins a hair more than the MS Vipers as I find they fit more comfortably. However, the MS Vipers has a tad more propulsion to them and they aren't super uncomfortable so they pretty comparable and not drastically different overall. I do wanna try a pair of Yuccas as I hear so many people rave about them.

As I mention in my reviews, I'd suggest the Tribe T1s for wide forefeet. I'm a 4E width and those are the most comfortable fins I've ever owned. Fin socks will prevent any "sharp edge" issues, but beware that a 2mm fin sock like the Tribe Flipper Slipper will add one shoe size to your feet.

Best fins I've ever owned, bar none. Fin sores free too.

Jay, I've been having problems with hamstring cramps while bodyboarding my whole life. Probably a more flexible fin blade can help with that. I'm looking for fins that are more flexible, but still have some pop. Do you think the MS Viper flex is the best option out there? Thanks

Although I'm not a fan of it myself, I recently tried Da Fin Kickz , and it had the softest/thinnest foot pocket and ankle strap of any fin I've used. One downside is it killed the propulsion. Also, since the foot pocket and ankle strap are really soft and thin, you should size up. If you are willing to swallow your pride, another option are cheap snorkeling fins with flimsy blades. With any fin though, some cramping is to be expected. To reduce your chances of getting cramps, make sure you're well-hydrated before you go out and water breaks every 30 mins or so. Stretching helps too before going out helps too. Here's Jay's review of the Kickz kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZ-rmaCuqK1rg6M

Just confirming that the red with yellow dot same stiffness as the black with yellow dot? I read on another website that it was flexible. I would like to buy one with good visibility for rescues. Also will they be back in stock for size large?
@jzen14554 жыл бұрын
All the yellow dots are stiff regardless of the outer color around the dot Green and pink dots are all the same softer stiffness regardless of the outer color.

@@jzen1455 I wondered too-- I think it's just that the yellow dot = original stiffness...all other dots indicate those variations.

Any good for a size 14 US wide foot? I see they run a 2xl on ebodyboarding. Cheers!

Why do they keep tearing? My son uses X-Small MS vipers and he’s on his 3rd pair in the last year and a half. He really like em they’re just not durable.🤷♂️

Be sure to Wash them off and Dry them in the Coolness of the Shade..sunnwill destroy the rubber quickly...I have owned vipers for 20yrs and only used 2 pair, thats because I lost one on a nasty shore break session years back..

Was using Makapuu XXL fins but the new ones are much smaller and no way to stretch. Have a 11.5” (standing on a ruler) foot and 12x4” wide size 12 boot. Any suggestions on size?
@eBodyboardingcom Жыл бұрын
Makapuu doesn't make an XXL. XL (13-14.5) is their largest and always has been. Here's some info from a blog I wrote about how fin socks and booties will mean possibly needing a larger size swimfin: Some estimates: *2mm fin sock: Adds 1 shoe size to your foot.*3mm fin booties: Adds 2 shoe sizes to your foot.*5mm fin booties: Adds 2 1/2 shoe sizes to your foot.*3mm hard-soled booties: Adds 3 1/2 shoe sizes to your foot.*5mm-7mm hard-soled booties: Adds 4 shoe sizes to your foot.If you want to read the entire blog, here's the link: www.ebodyboarding.com/blogs/jay-reale/how-to-choose-a-new-pair-of-swimfins MS Vipers' largest size is XXL which is 14-15 and DaFin's XXL is 15-16.

Your right about the size (XL). That size (XL) fit in my Aqua Lung Manta size 12 boot, 7 year old fins finally gave out but the fit was fine. Unfortunately since they were the exact same size I didn’t try the new pair until the return opportunity expired. I did cram a 12” 2.5x2.5 in them to try and stretch them but that didn’t work so I’m sure they are making them smaller than they did 7 years ago. Thanks for the link on sizing and response.

@@stevestark1985 A bit strange carrying on a discussion about Makapuu fins on the MS Viper Fin Review, but yes, about 2015 or so is when Makapuus started being manufactured in China instead of Malaysia. They must have made new molds or changed the original molds.
@stevestark1985 Жыл бұрын
Yes the sizing thing is problematic. Appreciate your responses, probably can make the Makapuu work with warmer water ( riverboarder ) and the fin inserts you sell. Probably end up getting some XXL vipers from your store next spring. Thanks again!
