He and Ali were geniuses in completely different ways. The best two heavyweights, boxers in fact, of all time. Ali's footwork and speed was something to behold and helped him overcome people with more power than him. He thrived when people were the aggressor to him. Tyson was always the aggressor, but in an astute way, his pressure and power along with hand speed and a very overlooked defence completely negated any tactics his opponent had. Both are incredible to watch and I wish they were both in the heavyweight division of today so that the younger generation like myself could witness them in the peak of all their powers rather than watching clips and fights back. Long live the GOATS.

So much of Tyson's legacy is shrouded in mystery but there is one near-unassailable fact: if Cus D'amato doesn't die in Tyson's prime, Mike Tyson goes UNDEFEATED. And no, it's not because of his unbelievable power, it's not because of his unbelievable speed, it's not because of his unbelievable reflexes, it's because of his DEFENSE. Mike Tyson's defense in his prime was second to none. He was a super-freak of Type A-1, fast-twitch fibers and uncanny anticipation. Minute 8:50 is a great example of how rare that combination is. The 5 most gifted boxers of all-time (in no order):Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr., Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, and (I HATE to say it) Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Its called hardwork. Fighting is easy part, first you must win in gym.
@jayMbodybuilding9 жыл бұрын
John Smith hard work? that's hilarious. I guess Messi and Ronaldo just worked harder than every other soccer player. I guess Tiger Woods did the same compared to other golfers. It's not hard-work son, these guys were born to be the best at their craft. They are freaks of nature. The amount of Size Tyson had (He never lifted a weight) and how fast and strong along with the endurance he had all defy physics. If you hard-work set him apart from the rest, you are VERY wrong.
@JohnSmith-ny4vg9 жыл бұрын
Chris Laffery Whit this retarded stance you will never achieve anything in life. Power of will is stronger than talent.
@jayMbodybuilding9 жыл бұрын
John Smith You can achieve lots in life with power of will, but your comparing yourself to the all time greats. If you want to be good at something, then practice your craft. But if you want to be the best at something, don't expect that to happen unless you are extremely talented, gifted, and all the rest of what you would need in your preferred craft. If you do not have natural coordination, if you do not have the natural ability to know when to throw punches, precisely, with power, repetitively, you can practice to become better, But chances are you will never be as great as these guys if it doesn't come as natural to you as breathing air. Pacquiao doesn't train as hard as some of his opponents. The guy fucking sings, plays on a professional basketball team, has a family, etc. Boxing comes natural to him, he has a gift out of this world. He trains, and he trains hard, but that is not what sets him apart from the rest. If you don't have the gift, you will never be the best, period.
@JohnSmith-ny4vg9 жыл бұрын
Chris Laffery So if someone achieves something great in life it automaticly means that he is naturaly gifted? You sound like those fat fucks who say its genetics that cause fatness. Hard work and iron will, you can work on your speed by doing speed drills, you can work on your punching power by hitting heavybag and hammer tire, you can work on your boxing skills by sparring alot. In the end iron will and dedication will become your natural talent, because some fucks like you dont have it.

I am always so impressed everytime I watch Mike Tysons boxing videos no matter how many times I've seen them. Compare his speed, ferocity, power, combinations and accuracy, with any heavyweight from any era.. no one comes close imo

19 fights - 19 KOs - 12 within the first 3 rounds. 20 years old...let's face it. All those different opponents, sizes, styles; Mike was a true Phenom. Almost a Savant of Boxing. Comments like "front runner/fought glass jaws/no technique/too small" make me lol. Take a look at his defense in the first half of his career also. No heavyweights have such sound fundamental defense mixed with that offense. He truly was the best of all-time. Yes - after Cus died and Don King took over, he changed. What fool would believe that going from a humble and quite personal life fueled by motivation for a better life and a disciplined home life to a flashy, showy, lustful party, fast living personal life filled with the distractions of drugs women money wouldn't affect someones training, mental game, or physical condition? Look at the Lennox Lewis fight - Mike never moves his head, never throws the uppercut, no angles, and no confidence. Mike has such an amazing story from coming up in the rough streets to cus d'amato adopting him to Don King, prison, to broke again. I have alot of respect for this man - not for what he did in the ring, but because he is still alive and still caring. There truly is no sound argument for debating that mike was the greatest of all time. Put him against anyone 3 times each in their primes and he wins 2/3.

You can't train to be able to punch that hard and fast. To an extent, you can but you're ceiling is only so high. It's genetics. Tyson was ridiculous. His power punches are so violent!
@iRuckiz8 жыл бұрын
Tyson was 200 pounds when he was 12 years old and the first time he attempted to bench press at that age he did 225 pounds...I mean he worked hard dont get me wrong but his genetics definitely didn't hurt him.

+Young Major That’s where he made the mistake, he didn’t perfectly time combinations of 1-4 quick punches in spots where the opponent left himself vulnerable and open. He wildly swung a a barrage of punches while Mike was completely on guard and of the defensive. Swinging until his stamina was so low he couldn’t endure much damage and that one perfectly timed punch added with the power of Mike Tyson dropped then straight to the canvas.

Defense also... head movement, speed and power and all that in one man. If he stay like this here all his career, he will end his career unbeaten, for sure! Great video, good music. The Legend!

But he dominated hv like nobody before and after. we cant compare marciano ali tyson klitscho... all are fight in other age... but mike when he was 19-23 years was most efective boxer ever.

+Cryer24597 I'm gonna disagree strongly with you there Cus D'Amato trained Floyd Patterson who was in al is Era and the fact the Floyd Patterson was a force of nature shows that the fact that Tyson is stronger faster and more elusive than Patterson was shows he could have dominated in a Era of Ali inside aggressive fighters in ali's Era weren't like Tyson they weren't elusive not as fast they could hit but they sure as hell weren't as accurate the closest to him was Joe Frazier Ali in his Prime Vs Tyson in his prime is when you put down the facts the fight could go to either way but it kinda leans to Tyson because the fact is Ali never fought anyone as explosive as Tyson with his skill set Ali would have some trouble but I'm sure he could handle it but if you as me if I feel like Tyson could KO ali in his prime I would say no

His defense is so underrated historically. He athletically, intelligently, and quickly made the right defensive maneuvers to put him in place for that ridiculous left hook. In his prime I think he beats anyone else in theirs.

It's crazy when you meet Mike Tyson in real life and you realize why he was such a monster in the ring. He is build like a shit brick house and you can see why he generated so much power and speed. I must say though, I'm so glad that he's doing good in his later year of his life. I couldn't imagine the shit he had to go through. Much respect.

Tyson was truly the greatest heavyweight of all time. Watch his shifting angles as he moves into bigger taller fighters. His footwork is way underrated. His entire body was fast twitch muscle fiber. He was always a punch ahead of anyone he faced. His opponents were overwhelmed. The power in those punches would literally kill an ordinary man.
