@Taquisha Laynetta I absolutely agree. But if you also look into the fact that certain states got plenty of government funding for welfare programs that were directed at the less income individuals, and in order to collect that welfare you had to be a single parent. For me that's the government trying to break up the family home in the poor communities.

Hey bro, I’m from a place similar to where Mike is from with a lot of broken homes. What you said is 100% correct. When I would see boys with their dads doing things, it would break my heart every time. That’s an emotion I’m conscious of, but it affects you on so many levels that you’re not aware of which can be devastating. That’s why I’m as close to my two kids as a father could be. I knew as a young man that I’d never ever be alienated from my kids no matter what because I lived that loneliness

In the end (In my opinion)...it’s not how you start it’s how you finish. Mike was young and no one is prepared for that kind of fame, Money, women...etc...he has it all in abundance at young age...I don’t think I would have handled it any better. He was a global phenomenon!! Today Mike is a great family man who’s been knocked down in the game of life many times but he keeps getting up and now look at him! @@perseusrex614 Guidance towards social and emotional growth is extremely important for a child from birth to pre-teen years. The process to guide a child to develop healthy self-esteem and respect for themselves and others is crucial especially during their teenage years. Without guidance, children would develop an intimidating persona that hides their actual feelings of fear, resentment, anxieties, and unhappiness. Mike already developed these emotions when he met Cus, however, Cus's presence was so strong that gave Mike a sense of love that he never experienced in his lifetime. A love so strong he didn't want to lose or jeopardize losing it, therefore he did everything Cus wanted just to make him happy so that he can continue to love him. Mike is powerful physically beyond his years, but emotionally he is years behind. Same. It’s crazy how some things were meant to be. Cus saw something in Mike that Mike didn’t see in himself . Until he strapped on the world championship belt, and he realized what Cus taught him the most valuable lesson in life. And showed him love and brought him into his family. You can tell this means everything to Mike even til this day. He misses Cus. Cuz would’ve been proud of Mike. He became the most dominant heavy weight of all time. Tyson is a national treasure. I wish Don King would’ve been more like Cus. That’s when shit started going south. We love you Mike. Thanks for all the fights! No one will ever be as good as you 👊🏻

Much love to cus as well. But Cus was more than a trainer. He was a father, a mentor, a savant and most of all a friend.

This shows how a little love, compassion, and encouragement can change a person's life. There are many mike tysons out there that nobody ever heard about because they never got a chance.

Mike Tyson has really been through a lot. He sets up such a hard front to protect his deep emotions. I'm pretty sure we all can relate to this. Great interview.

Having worked with kids in care, when Mike talks about the compliments Cus gave him and Mike doesn’t understand why, I feel that. The young adults and teenagers I worked with didn’t know how to take positive comments or commendation. A lot of the time they’d acted out irrationally, because they’ve never had anything slightly positive said to them. Over time they learn but I know first hand what he’s saying 😞

Confidence was a huge thing for mike. Cus used to pep talk mike before fights and tell him all this stuff “your a conquerer, a destroyer, a killer, a champion, your the best ever, destroyer or worlds” etc. he forged this man into a machine

The Cus and Mike love story and that is exactly what it is, is one of the most profound stories in recent history. A movie should be made about these 2 remarkable men. What they achieved was phenomenal.

Cus was the greatest example of a real man in the last 100 years or more. A warrior, and a poet. Hard as bone, and sweet as marrow. The violent fire laying waste to the forest's rot, to create the most terrifying beauty eyes can behold. His was the truest love that only misery and hatred can forge; the kind of love that only a broken soul can receive.

My Dad passed away in 2015 and I had a dream about him (haven't dreamed of my Dad in awhile) and coincidentally just rewatched this video on a whim and instantly felt Mike's message and emotions... He was the greatest man I've ever known... I would be in jail or dead if not for my Pops...a salute to all great dads out there!

I don't know if anyone ever realized this but a lot of Mike's mannerisms when he's speaking, how he speaks, how he articulates himself. If you've ever heard Cus speak, It's as if they're one in the same.

Cus was giving mike positive affirmations to instill in his mind that he can be the best and champion, and it worked. We need more people like Cus in this world, it’s very easy for someone to downplay someone else but very hard to find people who encourage, motivate, and release such positive energy to those around them.
