MY FAVORITE female singer of all time (just discovered her a few weeks ago) I’ve listened to most of her songs here on KZbin... ‘Through the eyes of a Child’ ‘Lucky’ ‘Murder 5,4,3,2,1’ ‘Runaway’ ‘The Seed’ (The hour long concert in the Cathedral in Norway) Chills, goosebumps, my heart ♥️ fluttering when she sings. From Maria Callas, Lara Fabian..Whitney Houston, Beth Hart...all genres of music...this 24 year old Norwegian 🇳🇴 young lady to me is ‘an Ethereal Goddess of Voice’ 🎤🎶💫💫💫

Having seen Bowie live back in the 70s performing this song I never thought that one day I would listen to it again and have tears in my eyes and it’s not because it brought back memories it’s the fact that Aurora opened up a totally new perspective on the song itself and shows how great that song is and that takes somebody special to do that. Aurora I believe Bowie would’ve loved your version of this for as an singer songwriter you to just like Bowie are head and shoulders above anyone else writing songs filled with a depth and meaningful lyrics.Genius❤️

Is there any singer out there today with a more pure beautiful tone of voice who never seems to be off key or hit any wrong notes? I say nay, nay, nay!! I truly believe that Aurora is not of this world and was sent here to show us how we should all care and love for each other!!

thank you so much for this reaction! if you like her covers she did a few more amazing ones!: Ariana Grande, God is a woman- AURORA cover Imagine Dragons, Believer- AURORA cover both of these are recorded in a radiostudio where she was invited to sing and play with her band. They gave her these songs on arrival and she basically had only an hour or so to practice before going live. it is absolutey incredible what Aurora and her band are capable of.

I am not going to say anything about Bowie (I am 50 years old man and you can imagine what I feel about that dude soundtracking my life) nor Aurora (she is a woman in her mid-20s - my input is worth little except that I love it too). I am going to say that I really like you two on youtube hanging out with each other. You have a wonderful vibe going. And it feeds over to me listening to an old song - as much as Aurora redoing it. If you ever find time - you will listen to the entire Nidarosdomen concert (it is only around an hour long) and you will hear Aurora say something like "this song is written by someone else - I wish it was me"). I am glad Bowie wrote and recorded it too because for an old dude like me it carries a lot - including creating it with a longing. To hear a younger person reflect on that song, it takes the desperation out of Ziggy Stardust a little bit even we know that Aurora is way more direct about her heteroflexibility/pansexuality/gender fluidity than Ziggy Stardust could be when Bowie was in his 20s. As such I think she is right to sing Bowie with sad hindsight. I have grown up in a mishmash of how to love and practice love. I have been asked by men to expand my horizon since Bowie recorded it - and I sure have had to defend myself with a sorry - I have accepted that I am totally hetero. I am boringly hetero. I think she is reflecting on Bowie at the time of recording the original with "age" looking back with sadness. Aurora is aware of Bowie and Freddy Mercury and how much of a rock Elton John had to be back in the 70s when they all pretty much shouted the complexity of gender 50 years ago by playing with androgynous concepts to avoid jail. Since Aurora has been open about being flexible about tingles, she of course will interpret the days of Bowie and Freddy and Elton with sadness. Men who had to hide their true love and identity for decades - even for their audience.Heck is was and still is forbidden in most places. As such her rendition gives me some peace. Bowie had to stretch out to Mars back in the 70s to wonder if life is accepted. Aurora as a kid can sing it back with the historical know-how decades later - almost like a generation or two. I hope I gave you two a thing to ponder. You sure make me happy 😀

Thank you both so much... you really made my day ! This was the very first video I ever saw from Aurora and it captivated me immediately... still this gives me chills ! I prefer Aurora's version to the original. Maybe it's because I'm not a big Bowie fan. There are several great songs from him, of course, but to be honest, his voice is not really my taste. Aurora's voice is so out-of-this-world, she could literally sing EVERYTHING and I would love it. And for me, she makes every song she covers, her own. One of her most beautiful covers is "Believer" (originally from the Imagine Dragons)... to be honest, I don't like the original at all, but Aurora's version is simply magical... just her at the piano. Thank you so much for your reaction and also for your honest opinion, I really appreicate it. When you react to my Mylene Farmer suggestion, please keep in mind that the visual aspect is more important than the music. The music might be not yours, but you'll see an intro like you've never seen before, believe me. It's the video "Ouverture Peut-être toi 2006" from Mylene Farmer. All the best and a Happy Easter weekend : Gerry

You need to react to any one of her live performances of both Warrior and Queendom. She literally can't give a subpar performance. Every note she sings turns into magic. Also, her most recent single, Exist for Love, will cause you to melt into a puddle of tears. Proceed with caution!! Ps. Ginger always reacts to AURORA in the exact right way.

Great reaction, as always. 😁 Aurora only plays by ear. To this day she cannot read any notes. 😉 You can't always like everything so much. For me this is the case with "Infection of a different kind". This is not my taste. Still, I think Bowie would be proud of Aurora with her performance here. I also have some nice Aurora covers in my luggage. How always. 😁 Aurora - Make you feel my love (Bob Dylon Cover) live at SOS Ole Bull 2020 Aurora - Famous Blue Raincoat (Leonard Cohan Cover) live at Legendado. On the occasion of the death of her great role model Leonard Cohan, a concert was given in which many stars sang his songs. Aurora sang this and it was an extremely good performance.

Her version of this from way back, 2016-17 maybe, is way better. She played this in a small concert in Miranda hotel in England. Much better and not so slow. And purer I think. Listen to that one, its on the tube. Shes so young there. This one I felt was a bit to controlled and slow. Hug from Norway.

I have heard many covers that are almost a copy of the original, but Aurora goes her own way and changes the song so that one would think that she is the one who wrote it. Very impressive cover. To be completely honest, I prefer Aurora's version. It's fitting that she's playing a Rhode from the '70s!
@Suamt
@Suamt 3 жыл бұрын
I think when you are heavily invested in a song or artist, there is always the temptation to compare versions. And you almost feel quilty of treason if you don't let old love win. So if at all possible i think one should look at them as two unrelated separate songs. Its the same as if i like vanilla icecream does thats mean i dont like chocolate. They are both icecream so they should be comparable. The problem is the answer dossent add any value, it simply makes no sense. I think Aurora made a good point when introducing this song in another concert. She said that the song belongs to all of us. Im pretty sure David would have loved Aurora, and she definetly also love this song and treats it with the respect it deserves. Thats just my 2 cents....
@rockape1954

Always hard to cover a such well known established song. Aurora changes the tempi a bit to fit her style. And if she just played it straight it would have just been a cover. But she likes to emphasise her voice... Check out her cover of Nat King Coles 'Nature Boy' for a similar Auroralisation that really brings it up to date for her.

This is the first one of hers that you didn't care for as much. I do like her covers usually, but I would stick to her original stuff. You see way more of her personality in those. I would do more from that live performance from that beautiful cathedral. Stuff like "Soft universe" or "It happened quiet" ...Also the music videos for "I went to far", " Running with the wolves" or " Queendom" You won't be disappointed . Oh, and if you want a bit more of a shocker, then do the music video for "Apple Tree" . It's a very visually eye opening video. Ok, I'll shut up now. Hopefully you will continue to explore her musical catalog. I still have several more to go, but I've listened to a large quantity. She really does mesmerize you with her performances.

David sang this song in anger and Aurora sings it in sorrow. They both oppose the culture they both are part of - a contradiction in terms. It is impossible to get anything sensible out of the lyrics unless you deeply understand all the political and philosophical references. I doubt very much Bowie fully understood what he was singing - only to a lesser degree does Aurora. Life on Mars is a criticism against collectivism whether it is of left or right political flavor. This is a severe contradiction because they both live off of collectivism in the sense they need people to gather in large numbers to praise their nonsense to live a good life out of disturbing people with their diluted rants.
