I'm so happy you guys enjoyed it, I knew you would love it. I've been really enjoying it lately, the epic sound is great and I can definitely identify with the theme, I'm sure you can too. His vocal range is so impressive, and this song showcases it particularly well. I think it's so cool that you guys can pick up on these older references in the song that I'm not even aware of like you said, but I love it anyway. A lot of their music has been influenced by Queen, The Beach Boys, Jellyfish, Foo Fighters, and more. Josh's (the lead singer) father owned a recording studio in Vancouver so growing up he was exposed to a number of different artists and I think that's part of the reason their music is so diverse and a lot of it has a "retro" feel. The harmonies make them so special and unique! I'm looking forward to the new album, but they haven't announced an official release date. Yesterday they released one more song from the album called "Lightning and Thunder" but I don't think there's even a lyric video out for that yet. They are known for their "concept" albums and this new one has an over-arching theme of "the heroes journey"/adventure story narrative. If you want to check out more from them I highly recommend "The Killing Kind" or "Masterpiece Theatre III", these are my favourites although I love them all! I know you'll love these. P.S. the song you'e thinking of and mentioned in the beginning of the video is Fallout (from the album Ever After) with all the explosions in the video. The lyric Mike is thinking of, "I know you're fine, but what do I do?" is from the same song. Thanks for sharing your reaction! 💕

Some explanation for this track: 1. The new album is all about The Hero’s Journey, a common trope used in storytelling. 2. This song has tons of reminiscent elements of their work on each of their previous albums, and even some of the very early stuff the lead singer did before they got signed. 3. It’s common for the band to do extremely theatrical openers & closers. This is to be the opener. 4. The weather motif is seemingly being carried over throughout the album. Many believe it will be called Into The Storm, a song we’ve gotten teasers for.

I'll come along and third this! The Killing Kind, Astoria, Dearly Departed, End of an Era, and Masterpiece Theater (1, 2 & 3) are arguably their best tracks and most properly show off their unique and unparalleled brand of Progressive Pop Rock. I'm really looking forward to this album, as it does seem like this will be their most progressive, epic, and narrative-type release yet.

This Canadian band is new to me. I don’t think they were played here or I just didn’t know what I was listening too. Although if I had heard them I think my interest would have been piqued. Enjoy my first listen to them. ❤️🤘🎸🎻🦘
