I have had a reply from Phil at Rhino and he says that the solenoid switches on gas tanks can be troublesome so he avoids them. Fair enough, we will live without it, but just be aware it is a difficult reach to switch off the gas. I can use a good set of ramps before I go to France and will just need to do my best before coming back because I am not taking the ramps with me.

Hi both Thanks o much for the video and based on this I have contacted Rhino for a quote for our Bailey Adamo. Like you, the extra storage in the gas locker would be a game changer for us, especially as our model of Adamo in very sparse on storage.

The only thing about the underslung tank that I've noticed since we filmed that is that it's very difficult to reach the centre of the tank to switch off the gas. Someone commented on a previous video that you can get tanks that can have a solenoid switch fitted inside the van so you can switch off the gas if you are going on the tunnel or boat to France. We didn't know about that. May look into getting it done if it canbe added to the tank we had installed but Rhino didn't tell us it was an option at the time.

Hi Mike and Trish, hope all is going well with the van. Just for awareness, we have had a problem with a water leak from the fridge condensate pipe as it has not been installed correctly. It should be routed to the underside of the van, but Swift had just left it resting on the floor under the wardrobe base. Some significant changes in temperature and we awoke to water soaking the floor and cabinets as the condensate leaked everywhere instead of under the van. Dometic say it should be vented underneath. It's a real shame as we love the van but it has soured our experience and we now have to get warranty work done. Please check where yours is routed. You'll need to undo six screws in the wardrobe base and you should see the condensate pipe hopefully exiting underneath and not resting on the floor.

If you were happy with the 3.9 Kg gas bottle the 20 litre tank you now have will hold approx 5 Kg of gas, so it should last a bit longer. But one of the advantages is if you go over to Europe you can fill up with LPG wherever you go if you have the correct adapters. The other is is so much cheaper than exchanging gas bottles. We have two 11 Kg Gasit bottles fitted in our MoHo, when I filled it for the first time 22 Kg of gas (44 litres) was cheaper than exchanging one 15 Kg Calor gas bottle. So if you’ve had a 20 litre tank fitted it should last almost 1.5 times what you got with your 3.9 Kg bottle (1 Kg of LPG is about 2 litres) My LPG is a very good app for finding your nearest LPG refill point.

Thanks, it's definitely worthwhile. We had 2 x 3.9kg gas bottles, each could hold 7.8 litres of gas so 15.6 litres total compared to 20 litres we now have, and as you say, the convenience and economy of refilling plus we reclaim the space in the van. win/win/win 👍

Hi Tricia and Mike, very useful shelf additions, never throw out things that might be useful in the future. and a lot more space with the underfloor gas tank. It's great you can make these decisions together,😂😂😂. Aberfoyle is great for walks, I had my caravan on the Trossachs site for a season, the views were great. Oban is great as well, I used to take the caravan there as well. A word of warning, don't call the big roon thing up on the hill MC caigs folly. I nearly got into an online argument with a local when I said that. My goad Tricia can fairly boogie.

Looks a promising start 😊 It will be good to get your view later down the line about how easy you find it to get LPG refills. I am looking at campervans currently and one dealer tried to talk me out of that idea due to the reduction in places selling it. Mind you they were selling a van that didn't have one as an option 😉

Our last van was LPG and we never had any problems, such less hassle and much cheaper in the long run. Even if some places stop doing it, others will continue and if we have to drive a bit it will still be cost effective compared to bottles.

Yes we are happy with the choice I think it depends a lot on your height and therefore the length of bed that you need. I am 5'10 and I can get away with sleeping in the transverse bed layout but sometimes wake up really needing to stretch out. Having the option to stay up for a bit while Tricia goes to bed or vice versa was important to us so really glad we went for what we did👍🐾💕

@@philipcook5574 Hi Phil, I think it only adds about 8 or 9 kg over the 2 x 3.9kg bottles so it's not much. Our issue is turning the gas off as the valve is right in the middle and very difficult to reach.

Really enjoying following you on your adventures! The Swift Carrera is on our shortlist of vans but I am wondering if the tambour door on the washroom is a "rattle risk". Seems that you need to strap it open for the best results. What are your experiences? Thanks

@@therealandytaylor Thanks Andy, that door is a good tight fit and no rattles. We do get some rattles from the roof lights, they have bug screens and blackout screens fitted and there is a bit of wind noise as you drive along but I think all vans will have an element of ratting.

I have to say when there was a wee pause after you said you were heading to Oban I let out a squeal of delight when you said you were visiting my beloved Mull. I'm sure you are probably back by now but there are so many wonderful places I would have directed you towards. The roads will be a challenge but I live by the rule, always pull info the passing places to let local or delivery vans pass. We have to respect Island life. Loch Buie is a fantastic if not challenging drive but the views are worth it and the Old Post office cafe is an absolute treat. The beach at Uisken is one of my favourite and the campsite at Fidden is stunning. There are some fab eating places with lots of fresh local fish available. Langoustines a plenty. I'm so envious and can't wait to see all you discover on Mull. Mull cheddar is one of my favourites so Mike you mustn't miss that. You need at the very least a week to go round the Island. I'm loving Tricia's modifications and wd like the link to the plastic shelf supports please. Perhaps you could both go in for a little van design consultancy as why on earth wouldn't the designers of your van sell it without the under slung gas tank. Genius! I'm watching this video with a bit of a squint as I've just had my 2nd cataract op. Hoping full sight restored for your Mull video. For the first time in 17 yrs I think I'm going to miss a visit 😢. Did you fill in the gas line holes to keep out mice and other critters?

It was really just the slight draft that came up through the ventilation holes, we never had problems with unwanted guests but I suppose it will prevent that possibility too.
