To be honest, I am not surprised the Israelis would go with the German style design for helmets. They have always been very pragmatic with their military equipment and used what worked best regardless of style and origin. Their very first standard issue rifle after all was the K98k and they flew Czech copies of the ME-109.

Yep, I'm aware. I appreciate their pragmatism over idealism in that respect.

Mike I just want to say I am so glad I found your channel, collecting surplus for me has always been a bit dodgy as the stores near me I have not always been sure I can trust. This channel has given me so much useful knowledge and your store has some of the best products I have gotten in a long time. I bought that lot of Czechoslovakian m85 field caps and am now selling them to my friends to afford even more for my own collection now!

Super glad you said this. This is a big reason why I do this. I love this stuff, and I encourage others to start their own collections to preserve history. Thanks so much!

Mike, this helmet gained notoriety and infamy during the Nicaraguan Sandinista revolution as it was used by the Somoza regime forces, giving them a very distinct figure.

I have one of the later versions that swoop down, but they have the same internal design. I'm fairly certain the later one that I have is kevlar instead of orlite material. It is comfortable as hell though great helmet. Also keep up the great work! Your shops awesome.

Hear something interesting. I am currently a soldier in the army (idf) And oddly enough the helmet is still in use to this day Of course not in combat units or professional places. Only in places where you just need a helmet to say "I have a helmet" 😂 For example when driving an open armored vehicle you must have a helmet and it was almost always this old helmet. I for example as a guard (at the base) and the base itself is not a base close to any danger area so I have these helmets. For example my personal helmet from 1979 but my friend's it's from 2001. Hope I renewed something for you. When will they be replaced? Do not know

Would you do a ballistics test on one?
@MikeB1284 жыл бұрын
Those tests are really expensive, so maybe, but it helps when I have viewer support through Patreon..

@@MikeB128 It might not be DOT-approved, but all the authorties see is a helmet. I'm surprised SNELL-approved combat helmets aren't a thing. They do every other type of headgear.
