Mike, This is the first comprehensive analysis of that tune that I've seen. Many have tried and many have failed. Excellent work Sir. You've got the tone dialed in perfectly. Thanks for posting.

I love Elvis’ version and Clapton’s version is the icing on the cake with those hot licks.

This is one of my favorites because its all in one area of the fretboard and sounds great. One thing nobody talks about is the right hand technique. Im trying to figure that part out.

Really good stuff Mike, love it! I've got the opening solo I think. I'm also on to the last chorus of Crossroads now too. You are helping me so much thanks a lot

Yes "Chuck!" Chuck Berry did do that a lot but he got it from T Bone Walker. Listen to T-Bone. Lotta "Chucks" in there

Lowell Fulson's original and Elvis's cover aside, there is an equally awesome, "raw" live version by Bobby King. It opens his 1975 "Chaser" live album and is well worth checking out for intensity and phrasing, IMHO.

Its difficult to stay in the same position - i.e G in this case and not drift out to the other positions in the key. A lot of the phrasing is repeated but still sounds great. Check out Lowel Fulsoms original. Nice one Mike ! 🎸👍

This is great! The hard part for me is the right hand thumb and finger technique. Are you using just your thumb and your index finger?
