In this video, I demonstrate how to perform a growth curve analysis using the multilevel modeling facilities in IBM SPSS. I focus specifically on modeling linear growth over time using an example found in Grimm et al.'s (2017) book (for details go here: www.Guilford.com/grimm-materials ). I demonstrate models including random slopes and intercepts and also how to model predictors of random coefficients at Level 2 (person-level). You can download a copy of the SPSS data referenced in the video here (drive.google.c.... You can download a copy of the Powerpoint here (drive.google.c....

Hi Mike! thanks so much for this series on growth modeling. Awsome! simple question: in your beautiful example each participant (id) is a subject with nested repeated measures over time on "math". Is it possible to consider a grouping binary variable like "experimental vs control" as property of each subject and thus use it as L2 feature in the model (I would put it in "factor(s):"). I would like to test (given a relevant ICC) that this L2 variable is affecting the trend differently for subjects in experimental vs control conditions...Am I in the wrong solution?

Is there a way to plot the output graphically? Thank you so much for all the content, really helpful!

Hi Mike. The links to the power point and referenced data don't work. Can you please fix them? Thanks.

Hello, they should be updated now. I don't understand how links "go bad" like this. Weird. Thanks for your patience.

Thank you so much for this explanation, it really helped me for my masters thesis! I was just wondering, in the last model, the model equations did not only include beta 01 and beta 02, but also beta 11 and beta 12, where in the output do I find estimations for these? Or did I mix something up here?
