Planning a 36 ft long by 15 ft wide drive way slab here, S.Texas, 3000PSI fibermesh mix, no rebar or wire mesh ( - internet reports recommend this setup for residential driveways - ) on existing 50 year old gravel driveway, I am wondering how far back the Readymix delivery extension will reach? Some say 18 feet, which leaves me with wheel-barrowing 12 feet and a bit. Other thing, you mention the screed stick, yeah as I recall my earlier days, overseas, pouring concrete drives, we used 4 x 2 studs, but riding along on top of the forms, not over set out pads as ya'll do.

So, I do understand that pads normally are poured at 4 inches, but why is that the standard? Or the norm?

I’m from England and I subscribe to your excellent channel but I don’t think I’ve ever seen you vibrate a slab with a poker? I’ve got one to do that is 300mm thick(12 inches thick). What advice can you give me?

It mostly depends on how stiff or loose you pour the concrete. We use one when we want to vibrate the face of a form so when we strip the forms the face looks smooth.

Why's that? What's proper way to insulate floor and pros cons to it? I'm about to have concrete floor poured for new garage and keep wondering if I need some sort of insulation if long term plan is to condition garage and bonus space above
