In her original studio recording of this song Cyndi needed falsetto to hit that crescendo note that Roy Orbison soared to effortlessly in his version. So she knocked me flat on April 5th in Dunedin when she nailed that same note in full voice. It sent a real shiver down my spine. It's not common for a singer to be singing better thirty years on, but Cyndi is in phenomenal vocal shape. She blew the roof off the stadium and I shifted from casual 80s listener to superfan in the space of one extraordinary note.

This was actually Roy Orbison’s song but he passed away before it was released. They (the royal “they”) asked if she would sing this. She did and released the song. A few years later they did release Roy’s version. Then in the early 00’s Celine Dion released her version of this song.
