How cool. I have a Torchmate 2X2 and I have made thousands of things. The best piece of advice that I can give anyone with a plasma cutter is to buy the small Harbor Freight air dryer. It cost about $500 but worth it. The other thing is to put a plastic bag around the handle trigger since you have a water table. That plastic bag will save you hundreds of dollars. I like your machine but I was a little concerned about the gantry arm only having one support instead of two. If you live near Racine, WI I would love to share programs with you. It looks like you know a lot and well on your way. I make most of my art program just by tracing in CAD.

I was one of the early buyer for the table when it first came out. I've been very pleased with it so far. Fusion360 is great but lets not kid ourselves here, if you've never ever used CAD in your life, it's going to be a steep learning curve, but I can guarantee you that it isn't as steep as say Catia V5 for instance (I have thousand hours of that as a professional)...Mach3, meh I'm ok with it, I mean, it works...glad to hear LS is coming out with their own...I've already bought Mach3 but, if LS has a better software then I don't mind parking Mach3 ! Also it's important to note that your cutting speed and quality is dependent on your plasma cuter, more so than the table itself.

Langmuir has their newer and bigger table on sale. Sooner you can order it, cheaper it is. A tiny tab to knockout is not an issue. I'd definitely get the water table, does A LOT to reduce warpage if not eliminate it. For some of my art projects, this would save an insane amount of time once orogrammed and make duplicate parts perfectly. Can't wait to get one.
@Mikefestiva5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out my video! The tabs on that were from me not setting up the IN and OUT cuts and CUT speed properly, I have gotten a lot better on setting up the Inches per minute and have completely eliminated that problem, but the Fusion 360 program is pretty detailed in tool paths, if you have parts that you’re concerned about tipping up when cutting them out it’s easy to add small tabs that you can break off after the part is cut. I think you will benefit by owning a CNC table especially your art projects! I need to look into there newer table and checkout some of its features. Take care 🙂

I highly recommend that plasma anti rust fluid be bought for tables without stainless water tables and slats. You can get a gallon which is mixed with water. For a small table, you don’t need to use the entire gallon. It will make a big difference. It also helps to prevent bacteria buildup which will happen with steel tables filled with water that aren’t emptied and allowed to dry.

Any preference. I bought some stuff that was 300 dollars for 5 gals for my new jd square table and it still has bacteria and a weird white salt looking stuff around the edges .thanks

"unlocks precision" what are your thinking about the table size, Would you have gone bigger if you had a bigger shop? I've been watching Collin furze use his 2'x2' desktop cnc for a year thinking it'd change my life getting one but I'd want to go 8x4 so it'll take a full sheet of metal and I just haven't got the space.
@Mikefestiva5 жыл бұрын
I had a opportunity to buy a older plasma cam 4x4 table but I decided not to because I really think that Plasma cam company is out for 100% profit, the older stuff is not supported anymore and if you want them to help you in customer support they want you to buy new electronics and software. Enough of that now I think the 25”x33 table is good for my shop, I don’t have a lot of extra room, I also think full 4x8 sheets of metal would be a lot to move in my shop. I talked with a friend with a fab shop and he said he would shear a 4x8 sheet of metal down to 2x4 for me, this will work better for me. All and all I’m sure there will be times when I need a bigger Table but most of the time I see myself cutting smaller parts. Take care 🙂

I work in a large manufacturing plant with a few of these, ours have suction underneath that malfunctions sometimes but I’ve worked there 60+ hours a week for 10 years and haven’t had anyone there complain about it. The one he’s using is a water table, not trying to talk to you like you don’t know anything but I have to assume. With a water table there should be VERY little in the way of smell. At very most you could install a vent...like a bathroom fan in the room were you have the table or open the door every 10/15 minutes. Realistically though this table is cutting small enough projects you shouldn’t have to vent much.

Torch consumables are changed out if the cut becomes out of tolerance or I need an extremely accurate cut on some parts. The Pro table helps with consumable life by piercing at a higher level then lowering the Z axis done to cut. Here’s a video of my Pro table. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e36td6FnqbSanpI

That looks great! Do you have a separate air dryer for your air line or just the one built into the Titanium 45?
@Mikefestiva5 жыл бұрын
I’m just using a small water trap on my air compressor and the small in line filter on my plasma torch. Sometime down the road I probably will get a better air dryer. Take care

Hey Mike, great info. What is the minimum shop space dimensions needed for the crossfire with the xl expansion kit?

Thank you so much for doing this video! How do you get such clean cuts with very little slag? I have a Lotus plasma cutter and have never gotten that clean of cuts. Is it the machine? Do I need a better air filter for my compressed air? Just wondering if I bought the Cross Fire if I would need a new plasma cutter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and happy Thanksgiving!
@Mikefestiva5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out my video! I don’t have anything special for my air, I’m just running a small water trap on the side of my compressor, then there’s the small air filter on the plasma 45. I think this torch runs about 90psi, at least that’s the incoming air pressure, it’s internally regulated. Did you ever see my video that I made the plasma track for my little CUT 50 plasma torch? It makes that cheap torch cut beautifully! I think it was because the plasma track I build would keep the torch off the work piece at a consistent height and consistent cut speed. That might be one problem with the slag? One thing to check out before you order a table in the future is go to the a Langmuir systems web site and they have a list of known plasma torch machines that do and do not work with there tables, I gambled a bit buying the table because the Titanium plasma 45 was so new no one had ever tried one out on a CNC table, but it works great on there! Basically no high frequency start plasma torch’s and sometimes there’s other ones that don’t have HF start but produce enough HF from inside the machine it’s self to cause interference with the table. Take care
@refinersforge17815 жыл бұрын
@@Mikefestiva thank you for the info. No I have not watched that video of the plasma track. After looking at their website I think I would have to get a new one anyways because mine is HF start. On other question, is the torch cord long enough on the Titanium? I thought I saw on the cross fire website that it required a 16 foot cord. But maybe that was for the pro version.
@Mikefestiva5 жыл бұрын
Refiner's Forge I saw that too about the 16 foot cord, I wondered about that when I ordered the table but there’s no problem with the shorter torch lead with this table and the XL table extension. I’m sorry to hear that your plasma torch is HF, I have one of those Cheap CUT 50 plasma torches I’m going to hook a friend up with now that I have the Titanium 45. Take care

@@Mikefestiva I really appreciate the time you take to answer questions! I'm a professional blacksmith so I would be using this to make money. How do you charge for the use of the table. Obviously it is a time and material thing and I'm sure it is a regional thing. I try to charge around $50 an hour shop time.

I've used my small plasma table enough to know that not only is a z axis critical but a basic torch height control is also needed especially with thinner material such as 16 gauge or thinner. Even thicker material can warp as your cut it especially if you are doing a lot of cutting in one area such as art work or small parts. It would be awesome if you could get a $1,500 plasma table that functions well but I think this one as is will cause more frustration than it's worth for the reasons stated above.
@Buildeverything5 жыл бұрын
Phill Huddleston I agree with the z axis controller. A water table is a must for thinner stuff.

Newb question; are the table slats that the work rests on ‘reversible’ or simply sacrificial?
@Mikefestiva5 жыл бұрын
Jeff that’s a good question to ask, yes the slats can be flipped over for a fresh surface after the top side becomes really cut up. I think it will be a while before I need to do that. One thing to mention is on occasion I will look over the slats and run a angle grinder with a flap disc over any high spots with built up slag to clean and level them up before cutting a new piece of metal. With the XL package it has enough cut capacity to cut it’s own table slats! Take care

It looks like the gantry and the torch holder have a lot of height adjustment. Would it be possible to put a square tube on the table and cut on the up facing flat surface?

Just placed my pre-order for the CrossFire PRO about a minute ago. I used your affiliate link hoping you get something out of it. Unfortunately the discount code doesn't work for the PRO, probably because it's already discounted for the pre-order... Thanks for making these videos. They are the reason I went with Langmuir Systems.

This question is for anyone. I'm curious about the unsupported end of the X-axis. Has anyone experienced backlash/whip? Or any problems with deflection (being pulled down) when the Z-axis carriage gets to that end? Those are my main concerns. Those probably aren't issues, but I feel like I should ask before buying. Thanks to anyone who answers.

That’s my concern as well. I’m shocked this question is addressed more. I wonder if that means folks aren’t encountering that issue as much as I would have anticipated.

Hi Mike. Great video and I’ve watched it like 10 times. I just set up a new crossfire pro and went with the razorcut 45 plasma because of the plug and play promise. Turns out they have a big run of units with misfire issues and instead of replacing them they want you to repair them yourself. So I’m returning my plasma cutter and am now looking at the same HF machine you are using in this video. Can I ask how it has performed over the last year? Any misfires? Problems? Thank you so much Dan
@Mikefestiva4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out my videos 👍 I show how to connect the torch trigger in this video, my other crossfire pro video I show how to connect the THC 😂 that’s for Torch hight control. I have cut over 500 feet with my Titanium without any problems. I have had a few misfires but they tend to be from a bad ground, I Always connect my ground clamp to my metal I’m cutting, not the water drain bolt like they mentioned. This seems to remedy most of my misfires, on occasion you will of course need to change out your consumables too. I have had my titanium start a cut but only etched the part and it would only be cutting at 15 amps, this was due to a bad ground issue, the torch is designed to only put out 15 amps to start the pilot arc till it senses a ground, it it doesn’t it will only cut up to 15 amps, this is so the torch doesn’t go full amps and melts the small ground wire leading out the the torch head to engage the pilot arc. I hope this makes sense. The Titanium has been a rock solid plasma and I always cut at the full 45 amps and just adjust the speed of the cut depending on metal thickness. I still haven’t hit the duty cycle yet. I hope this info is helpful to you. 👍
