Adam's was gotten for his D though. He played his best basketball alongside Westbrook. Which was also the style of play they wanted to place around Ja. I totally agree with Mike, Memphis has failed Jah time and time again - on and off the court. The Dillion Brooks thing should have been handled internal and was a very rash decision. Letting an All NBA defender walk for nothing is insane. Houston seemed to have been watching Memphis, because they have succefully done what Memphis hasn't in bringing in true veteran leaders(players and coach) for their 3 young stars. Jah has to be accountable for his actions, but the Grizzles should never have let it get that far either. There's accountability to be had on both sides.

I mean their record shows something is worse. Not sure you focused on the biggest reason: Tyus Jones was the best 6th man in the league last year (and maybe the year before). His presence at PG was the reason the loss of Morant was managed so well. Add the lack of Steven Adams presence in the team and there you have the real difference. You can look at stats all day long and you will be wrong every time about what Adams brings to the team. He does so much that does not show up on the stat sheet. His injury sucks. It's a huge loss, but his trade wasn't a 'misstep'. He made the team better. The Grizzlies will have to fight through a tough year this time around. But they are not going away, they'll be back.

idk, i disagree with the steven adams and d rose parts. steven adams pure stats are worse than jvs, but i think given their respective situations this was kind of a win-win. the point about injuries aside (which is a fair one), i would argue steven adams impact defensively, on the boards, etc has overall had a huge impact on the grizzlies, and his mentality on the court has helped them get wins and be able to kind of tough it out. as for rose, being a knicks fan, he directly mentored both iq and obi toppin when they were drafted, and not only was he a former mvp pg, he was a former mvp pg with a very similar play style, build etc to ja. i also think bc he is so well liked he helps take a little of the target the grizzlies got on their backs last season off. one other piece they lost though was tyus jones, who i think overall had a big impact on the team
@petasmith6258 Жыл бұрын
Your appraisal of Adam’s is naive. This is the guy who broke Dennis Rodman’s seasonal offensive rebound record leading to more second chance baskets than any other team in the league. This desire/hunger/tactic was quickly adopted & put to good use by a number of teams who followed Adam’s/Grizzlie’s example, in applying more emphasis on offensive rebounds.
@MKIVD Жыл бұрын
Nah. There's a reason why they did that to Dillon. He was becoming too detrimental to the team, to the point where other teams are losing respect of the Grizz. Also, too many things were happening during that time. Ja's "We're fine in the West" statements were biting them right in the ass, an investigation on his amazing Gilbert Arenas impersonation was well underway, they were starting to get exposed during the last stretch of the season up to the playoffs. Then Dillon just won't stop with the shenanigans that no one clearly was digging, not even his own team and management. The grizz got too cocky while not really being able to do anything yet. Bro they even stopped their tunnel shenanigans. That throwing of Dillon under the bus was them communicating loudly that they were going to have a cultural rebuild of the team. Less cocky, just back to the grit and grind.
@Blade383210 Жыл бұрын
Just came here to say it's been a disaster because they traded away people like Kyle Anderson and De'Anthony Melton for players like Ziarie Williams and Jake Laravia. Who are useless on the court and i don't know if they are ever going to be NBA rotation players. Roddy is the only one that shows any promise but Melton is still the better player. The moves to get younger have not paid off on top of most of rotational players being injured. I don't think it's a nail in the coffin just yet but we may want to think about tanking to get a good pick at this point for an actual starting Small Forward and hopefully GG Jackson could be a sixth man type player because he looks promising in the G League so far. Also I'm not a fan of Brooks and i do believe Marcus Smart will be a better fit besides Ja, because Dillon jacked up shots and took shots away from Bane and Jaren, when he gets back but we definitely miss Tyus Jones right now. I was one person who said they should get Rose long before the trade even happened. Not necessarily a mentor as he's going to take him under his wing type sh!t. Ja doesn't need that, he's a Superstar. It's more of having his presence there and felt. Someone that can simply talk to Ja. A guy that's literally been there and through everything inside/out basketball. The staff wants these guy's to take thing's more serious. I don't think they handled the Brooks situation and obviously trades the right way. They should have simply resigned Brooks and then traded him. The outright hate and spazzing out shows immaturity in their own staff. Lol maybe they need a change within the decision making of the organization as well lol. Idk. Hasty move there. I get that Brooks is a pain in the azz. However you have to capitalize on your assets. It led to Brooks gettin a bag though, so he doesn't mind now I'm sure. The Smart deal was another attempt at getting a different vibe, or "culture" onto the team.. Yet I'm not sure they thought it through exactly who and what they were getting.. The fact they lost both of their scoring guards. Replaced them with a guy who can't score, or pass and an old Rose. Not the best combination, they need Ja really bad now. Once he's back, it should help to really balance thing's out at the guard spot. Which should definitely help Smart find his role. I think he would play well alongside Ja. Or even off the bench for Ja. I'd even try sliding Smart to SF in certain matchups.

Theres a big difference between being competitive and being an arrogant ja**a**. Until now Dillon still doesnt know the difference. Hates being portrayed as the villain but acts like one. Also the grizzlies never spoke about what they told Brooks, the news came from Shams. There was no press release, dont make it sound as if they broadcasted it.

Smart is a defensive general he was not meant to replace Ja, he was meant to replace Brooks who is also a defensive general. Seeing how much Brooks has impacted the Rockets culturally and defensively clearly highlights the Grizzlies biggest mistake. Only mentally defective fans laughed at Brooks when the Grizzlies and their moronic front office turned their back on him.
@simonscott5785 Жыл бұрын
Although i don't agree with how they did dillion brooks you have to watch every grizzlies game to see the bigger picture. Yes we suck and its easy to say its cause we lost dillion and Tyus and to a degree that's true. But the main factor not factoring JA, is our injuries. On any given night we are missing 70 percent of our starting lineup/bench and are forced to use a large amount of the g league team mixed with Jaren and Demond in the starting lineup. And even then were not getting blown out in our loses which is impressive to say the least. So when we get players like Brandon Clark, Marcus smart , Steven Adams, Drose and JA back were going to be dangerous. So do not let the Tv narrative fool you.

Could someone pls say TAYLOR EFFING JENKINS?!!? Absolutely abysmal. Wharton Business School & 4 yrs coaching a g league team is all u need to be an NBA coach. Has no clue how to teach defense, offense, blocking out, rebounding or setting screens. Most young players never progress. So tired of his bs after every loss, his inability to look anyone in the eye and his hatred of pronouns and Lofton Jr. Who would want to play for this guy? Turns out ... no one.
