In this episode we find some rust in the chassis of our Datsun 280zx and attempt to repair it. We also install some new fender mirrors as the old ones weren't cutting it. Enjoy! Check out Jordans channel - / channel

Good work! A 280ZX was my first car (technically Mum's), so your machine brings back memories. It ended up on the lockstop too often. Also had cracked chassis rails.

Try E71T-11 GASLESS MIG WIRE , its got more flux in it than the GS (which everyone uses) and welds noticeably smoother i find . Also a cheap Anti Spatter spray is Aerosol Canola Oil :)

You don't need a gas mig at all!!! Flux core is fine and does the exact same thing just more clean up..
@mrcasperjensen3 жыл бұрын
When welding galvanized steel, the zinc coating easily vaporises. This will form zinc oxide fumes that will mix with the air. This gas may give short-term effects to your health which is also known as “metal fume fever”. Welders may experience flu-like symptoms once they inhale the fumes.Aug 17, 2020

Haha I got the roadworthy for the 280 a few years back & the rust wasn't even visible then! I think it became more obvious when I scraped the chassis over a speed bump a couple times...The rails hang so fricken low on these things!

Welding galvanized steel can pose problems other than just health risks. The zinc coating found on galvanized steels can compromise the weld. The coating makes penetration more difficult and can cause a weld to have inclusions and porosity. Lack of fusion at the toes of the weld is also common.Sep 21, 2017 of google

Bro I love that you get in and have a crack at anything. But i also kringe as a fabricator for a resto car restoration place. That rail would me many hours work for me to make it look factory again 😂. But keep up the good work. Also you need to get some POR 15 to coat the repairs with.
@itsmikelake3 жыл бұрын
I literally just learned about POR15 today! Looks like an awesome product. And yeah, sorry about the quality of my shitty fab work...Haha. But i'd rather that than the giant rust hole 😅. One day i'll likely take it to a shop and get it all completely overhauled. If the KZbin ever takes off and I get rich HAHA

@@itsmikelake mate I love that you at least get stuck in and have a go. Butter then just leaving them to rust. So nothing to apologise for mate. Dude once your a super famous KZbinr I will hopfully have a shop and we might be able to work out a deal to get your body work done 😜. Keep up the content tho mate. I love your channel.

Pretty sure you read the script wrong Mike. You were meant to say Triple Weber’s instead of Turbo.
@itsmikelake3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha I wish! I had a chat to damons dad who’s a carb wizard and the cost of going carb vs turbo is far larger. So much so that I cannot justify it haha
@harrisonwaterhouse47423 жыл бұрын
Turbo will definitely be cheaper and more cost effective especially since you’ll still be using the stock ecu. But you can beat one of these engines with triple Webers. They sound like nothing else.
