In the PS-Move level pack, you can move portals manually by holding the fire button and dragging the portal over wherever you'd like. It's a fun level pack.

An even cleaner solution could involve carrying laser cubes with crane arms (like the ones GLaDOS uses when you first wake her up). They'd just move along the same rails the moving panels do and there'd be similar stationary surfaces like what you did. No need for bulky vactubes then. Great job though! Love these edits.

I considered that option when starting, but felt the vactubes randomly being in the room made more sense than the cubes conveniently being moved across the room. I also struggled with coming up with where the Portal placement would be. I thought of doors with a portable surface that would swing open and close from the entrance and exit of the cube’s conveyor could have worked, but that would require there only being one cube per loop. Perhaps that was a more interesting option, but regardless I went with what I felt was more believably convenient. ✌️

You’d also think the portal generator would be used to keep moving portals stable, but otherwise I love the idea of using cubes instead much more!

It is rather convenient that the cubes are pointed in the exact direction that's needed to not have to rework the entire tube cutting system.

I think you could explain it by assuming portals can totally move, but they can't accelerate. all the portals that can't move in the game disappear as soon as their surface starts accelerating, this is the only instance of a portal being placed on a surface that's already moving and thus not accelerating.

@@L0op This is also supported by the fact that Earth has little to no acceleration, so if this rule wasn't the case, portals wouldn't exist at all.

You can put a portal on the moon with an end on Earth, therefore you can have portals with missaligned "speeds". I assume you can´t put portals on a surface and maintain it while the surface starts moving. That's a matter of conservation of momentum and such.

my response to the argument of portals always moving because the earth is moving is that during the neurotoxin sequence the portals are moving relarive to each other, which they normally don't do unfortunately this explanation would mean the ending is also breaking the rules because the moon and its portal are moving relative to Earth and its portal

Y'know what I personally REALLY wanna see get fixed? The Portal Gun's viewmodel. It isn't symmetrical. The zero point energy claw on top of the barrel is tilted to the right for seemingly no reason. Or maybe they concluded it was a more pleasing silhouette from the first-person view. But I hate this. Why can the Gravity Gun viewmodel be symmetrical, but the Portal Gun can't? Can this be changed? I know one person made a custom model that fixed this, but I don't really like its animations. I just want the original viewmodels with a fixed claw.

They probably installed some remote thing like the paint gun on/off gates in aperture tag in the fizzlers at the end and start of tests that enable for the portals to move or the portals to close when it gets moved by a chamber element or panel idk tho

The download also includes an install text file showing the proper place to put it. 👍 It should be in ‘steam/steamapps/common/Portal 2’. You’ll see other folders in there named similarly.

Hi! I tried to put the mod on my game, I did everything right, everything works perfectly, except that I can't hear anything anymore, no sound, sound effects, music and voices are no longer audible... Is there a solution?

@@KazumiOffi How strange. I’ve looked into the issue and it appears that indeed can happen in rare specific cases, sometimes involving your microphone.. somehow. @@That_Mr_Mike Oh ok, thanks for all those sources, I'll have a look. I've installed the mod, to remove the inconsistencies in chapter 1 of Portal 2... The video has more than 200k, and I didn't have any sound problem, I think it's because I put a new folder, “portal2_dlc3” in my game files, and also the fact that my game is in french (I'm french :)), maybe that's what makes everything buggy... Anyway, I'll look at the solutions you gave me here, I also wanted to tell you that the other mod is very successful, but I have something to suggest to you, as I see that you really don't like inconsistencies. In “sp_a2_intro”, on the bulletin board in room 19, where there are the little pictures showing what's in the level, in front of the elevator, the cake logo has been replaced by something else, I'll tell you in case you want to update your mod 👍
