Thanks Danielbdbe, I have been writing on a book, so I did not also have that much time to make videos. But now I'm back to make more videos about different photo stuff :-).

Excellent instructional video! It's very clear that w/o the right tools, don't even attempt this.

Immersion into an equal mixture of Ammonia cleaner and Hydrogen Peroxide works really well. It should be kept there for 20-30 minutes and it will eliminate any fungus. Problem is, if the fungi has been living on the lens for a lot of time, it could have damaged the glass...effectively consuming/corroding it.

Hi Mikeno, love your videos, I can't tell you hoe many lenses I have saved with your help. A question: what is the advantage of using lighter fluid to clean fungus instead of hydrogen peroxide?

Hi Mikeno, again a very informative video. Thanks for sharing your skills and experience. As a long term subscriber, i have already learnt alot from your videos. They also gave me courage to develop my own (still rather timid) repair attempts. :-) Although this video is about a nikon lens, i wonder whether you could give me some tipps for a problem with my takumar 55 2.2 that i can not solve myself. All the parameters of the lens are fine and snug with one exception: it cannot focus to infinity. A true 1m distance shows 3m on the lens' distance ring, a true 5m is still not sharp on the ring's infinity position. Focussing to infinity, the viewfinder image remains blurred, although lens glass, mirror und viewfinder are clean and clear. I opened the rear lens part, the focussing thread looks fine and in correct position, everything there seems alright. After reassembly, no change from before - everything works as it should, but still the 'out of focus' issue remains as before. Do you have an idea where the root cause could be? Thanks alot!

Hi Mikeno. I tried to clean a fog on the AF Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 D. I reached the second group where the problem was located. The second group is made of 3 lenses but I couldn’t open it. Are you familiar with this lens?

I'm not familar with that lens, but I know that in some lenses Nikon have use a lot of thread lock on the retaining rings, so to help them to come free, you can use a few drops of nail polish remover on a cotton bud and add it on the thread of the retaining ring, maybe you will do it 2-3 times, just to soften the thread lock and then it should be possible to unscrew it with a rubber tool or rubber gloves.

@@mikeno62 Yes I saw you doing that on your videos. I will buy some nail polish and try it out. Thanks for the advice. You are the best
