but the ipod and samsung are in ear even though they are open at the same time so is not going to sound the same as like the bose and shoks which are truelly open earphones. and when you speak about audio quality you need to show the frequency range graph which tells you everything about the type of treble and bass they reproduce because audio is also subjective to each person.

I have both the Bose open earbuds and Sony Linkbuds, and here are some of my thoughts: 👉Design: definitely Bose. Both are very comfortable but Bose earbuds looks cooler. 👉 Audio performance: I think this relying on personal taste but in my humble opinion, I think Sony has done it better than Bose. At first, you will be wowed by Bose “signature” bass but you will soon get tired of it, at least it’s true for me. In Sony case, everything is well calibrated, it feels “just right”, very detailed, with wider sound stage than Bose. 👉 Companion app: another point for Sony. It’s Headphones app has more options than Bose Music, making Sony Linkbuds become very flexible for many music genres. 👉Mic quality: I feel myself have more natural sound with the Sony 👉Battery life: Bose is the winner with no doubt.

I also like how the Buds Live are designed such that you can push them into your ear a little when you need some isolation temporarily. Also, it's easy to replace their batteries, so they can be easily renewed after a few years of battery degradation. It's easy to remove the shine from the Buds Live with fine-grit sandpaper. Though I like the overall approach and thoroughness, I disagree with the practical grouping of the products. The only products here that are open ear are actually shokz and Bose. All the rest, need to sit in the ear and this is a really different experience. The true open ear are the ones that don't block the ear. It gives them tremendous comfort because they just sit outside your ear and unfortunately they don't block any noise which is the entire point. Bose is an innovation in the category, as it sits in the ear but didn't really block the ear. The marketing of "open air" being no silicone is bs, and tech channels should know about this. With their mindset, we had open ear headphones for ages with those small wired ones which were also uncomfortable. Take it from a person with multiple ear infections, if it touches the ear canal entrance, it's annoying and uncomfortable. Not to everyone but this sensitivity helps make the distinction.
@Randomness6629 ай бұрын
I disagree with your sentiment. Typically when you put one of these "tipless" earbuds into your ear, they *should* just rest barely outside of your canal, and only blocking around 5% of external sound. This at least was my experience with Apple's Wired Earpods, which sure, you can shove all the way into your ear, but I let them rest just outside my canal and they don't fall and block out 0 external sound.

Using the Bose currently to watch this video. These shine as a podcast earbud less so music Feels like the podcast is actually taking place in your vicinity. Music quality is very good too but podcasts have been a surreal experience with these.

Can you confirm if the Bose have mono mode? You said in your last video on them that they don’t have it, but I’ve seen other KZbinrs say they do have it, so it’s very confusing.

I own the Shokz & I’m looking to replace them bc of the over the ear loop design. Glasses & face masks interfere with them & they fall out easily. I like the design, the quality, & the durability. One of them fell into the washer & went thru the cycle unscathed-detergent & all!! I think they are very light. I’m half expecting to lose one any day now bc the come off when you take your shirt off, bend over, etc. The first day I wore them one came off & I was frantically searching on hands & knees at a restaurant amongst the patrons like Danny Devito in Romancing the Stone, “ I lost my langostino.” It turn out to be in the collar of my shirt!! I’m leaning toward Bose bc they seem to be more secure than the others. Maybe you can add a jogging test to rank how easily they dislodge. Why don’t they make these in a flesh tone so blend in better at work where sometimes management thinks we are being unproductive bc we are having a conversation. I tell them that mine don’t have a microphone but that’s dismissed bc they want it to be a blanket ban. Mono is a plus for me bc I mainly listen to podcasts not music,

I've tried a lot of ear buds but none were as comfortable as the Samsung live. Sure some might perform better or look better or whatever but they all would give me really bad ear fatigue. The live's never did.

Main reason for using open buds for me is sharing an office and working in a hospital. I want background music/podcasts, but I absolutely have to be aware of my surroundings and transparency mode on any earbuds is not good enough if someone starts talking to me.

You need to get different ear tips on the Samsung live my wife and I went thru a dozen earbuds until she bought these. Every single thing you criticized works great for us. I have to hit her for attention. We can scream at each other and never falls out.

For whatever reason, in-ear buds are extremely painful for me. Like I can tolerate it in my right ear for a while, but the left ear is flat out unbearable almost instantly. Some of these look like they would still hurt since they rely on pressing into the opening of your ear to stay in, so I definitely prefer the type that hook over the ear.

I went with the Shokz Openfit Air. A little lighter weight than the Openfit. Better price point: $119. Cross platform multi-point connectivity: I can connect my personal iPhone and my company Samsung/Android simultaneously. The ability to wear only one while the other charges in the case allows me to stretch out the runtime on days of long conference calls.

Excellent review, and format! I've enjoyed my Galaxy buds live that I got for free with my S21 ultra on launch, unknowing that this was its own category of earphones (open). I lost/left my earbuds in an Uber while on a work trip last week and decided I need a replacement set of earbuds. So my research lead me to this perfectly timed video. The Bose had already caught my ear and it seems like the ones that fit my needs, but from watching this , it seems as though any earbud would be an upgrade on my 3 year old Galaxy Buds Live's haha. Because I never compared the bud lives to anything else I never really considered that adjusting the position every 10-15mins as an issue, now however, I would never go back to that.

I have the link buds and the case stopped working after about a year. Technically, it still works but only on the right side. The left side continually drains it so that no matter how much battery you have when you leave the house it's zero by the time you use it.

I have Airpods 3 and have a lot of trouble with them staying in my ears. I had to get some little soft-plastic sleeves to slide them into so that the Airpods will stay in my ears for more than 10-15 minutes. (and with the sleeves the Airpods 3 will stay in for hours). I also have two different models of open earbuds from Oladance (similar to Shokx) and they work very nicely for me. I am also interested in the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, but need to wait before I spend yet more money on earbuds. 🙂
@garanceadrosehn96916 ай бұрын
The Oladance models do come in multiple colors (IIRC). They come with one case which is larger and includes the ability to recharge the airbuds, and you can buy a second set which is much smaller but does not include the ability to charge the earbuds while you're out-and-about.

Usual earbuds are hard to get to fit well. To get a full sound, a good fit is a must. If one like me has some irritation in the ear canal, open buds are the best. And to be honest, nothing is supposed to be pressed into the ear canal in the first place. If optimal sound quality is required, go for proper over ear phones.

I had the bose quiet comfort II earbuds for use with iphone 14. I have had nothing but problems with them connecting. Sometimes I would have to fiddle for half an hour putting them back in the case out of the case, connect, disconnect then they would suddenly just connect. Yesterday I finally had it when they kept restarting in my ear, and loosing connection even though the phone said they were connected. So I calmly took them outside, grabbed my sledge hammer, and did what I have wanted to do since I first bought them. Now I get to research for a new pair, again. Technology is such a pain in the ass.

The linkbuds, in practice, by my experience, have only about 2.5-3hrs of battery life, standby, after about 20mins of teams calls, in my use at work. They have been having issues charging correctly in their case as well. I recently went through a hard reset cycle on them to see if it helps at all. Even when new, they weren't anywhere near the battery life mentioned here.

I had two pairs of the Sony Linkbuds but they both failed after a few months of use. The sound became crackly and distorted, which I could temporarily fix by squeezing them really hard. Clearly a design fault, especially judging from reading the forums where others experienced the same. I managed to exchanged them and paid extra for the Bose Ultra Earbuds and got to say, I’m really pleased with them. Honestly feels like I’m not wearing them - they are so light. Bass is a bit lacking and I would love to be able to track them if they ever become lost, similar to how you can with Apple AirPods.

I like how he considered some of the extra features. Being able to play sound from your laptop and phone simultaneously, mono mode, and the reliability of having physical buttons instead of finacky touch controls is often glossed over. I also like he didn't waste 50% of the review giving an artistic critique of the ascetics (I'm lookimg at your phone reviewers, who would ooh and aah over a slightly more bezeled edge on the latest iPhone). I would have like a bit more attention on the security of the fit. Horror, if $300 popped off your ear mid-jog and was swallowed by the sidewalk gutter. I am also curious to see how durable the softer flexing parts last.
