What if for some reason you have to divide grass in summer? My Japanese Silver didn't come back properly because I divided some of it (at the right time) and must have done it wrong, it was a focal point in my border and now it has like two blades on each side and a gap in the middle, new growth is sprouting on each side under the big blades finally, but so far there's still a gap in the middle and I don't know if it's gonna fill out. Also have to divide my fountain grass because it's gotten so wide it's killing my weigela and arborvitae butnimnafraid of doing it now in the summer. If you have to do it in summer is there any way to do it successfully? I have a few divisions of the fountain grass I pulled up and potted but I'm afraid to put them outside.

Maybe you could tell me!! My neighbor has these HUGE spree like grasses that are at least 10 feet tall with a few white feathery stalks at the top center if it. I can't find out what they are. I was considering using them as a live privacy fence if they grow fast. Do you happen to have any idea? I could also email you a picture? (Trying to find somthing that grows fast and is cheap and gets at least 6 feet tall, if you have any suggestions.)

AwakenOhSleeper Cortaderia selloana, commonly known as pampas grass. Or white pampas grass is great. Use a chainsaw or burn it to ground level every fall.

lots of those grasses are considered invasive. i don't know why you'd want more of them on your property when you get forest floors full of them.
