The Rochester on my 1956 235ci doesn’t seem to have any indication as to what model it is, the stamp says Rochester Gm made in USA patents pending. But there is a small x on the top left of the stamping. Is there a model designated by an x? Also, it started to leak very significantly out of the throttle shaft, which goes into the second butterfly(right?), at all times. So I took the carb off and disassembled everything and cleaned it thoroughly. Upon reinstallation the throttle shaft leak was fixed, but now under both normal and heavy acceleration, the engine hesitates and stumbles. It never did that before I disassembled the carb so I’m not sure as to what I May have accidentally done? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Also, I have my idle set to 650-700 rpm. But after I drive the truck (1949 Chevy 3100) and get it up to operating temperature, the fast idle circuit keeps it idling at 1,000 rpm. I can’t get it to idle back down once it starts to get that high idle. Any advice would be great

Hi Mike, nice video and help for those of us who need it. My question my 53 Chevy pickup truck is hard starting won't stay running, feels like no power and I'm popping through carburator. I thought it was points because they looked shot, I replaced with pertronix electronic ignition, and put a new coil still having issues. So now I just replace cap, rotor, wires, and plugs and same thing. Now I'm looking into carb do you think my issue can be in that ? took carb apart but didn't really get into it yet. If not carb my next step mite be vacuum or timing. What do you think. Thank you

Can timing or distributor issues cause off idle hesitation? I’ve got a professionally rebuilt Rochester B & am having off idle hesitation as well as high idle after driving.

My engine won’t idle and I have adjusted valves, timing, and have come to conclusion it is carburetor related. I had messed with the idk screw one time and had forgotten about it, I’m pretty sure turning it out richens it am I correct?

I just had my bv rebuilt by a very reputable carb builder and I now have a hesitation when the throttle is opened quickly. The vehicle has a new fuel pump, tank and rubber lines. Steel lines were flushed out as well. Is there anything else that could cause the hesitation? All ignition components are new also. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If you don't want to give free advice I understand completely. Love the videos, thanks a bunch.
