I was born in October 1954 and just turned 70 years old and don't have any of these thoughts that you have. You are letting the demons creep into your mind and take over. You must control your thoughts and live your life and don't live your life as a seventy-year-old, just live your life as a human being alive and breathing with a new day in front of you. That's it. Do the best you can eating properly and getting enough exercise and clean water. Quit fearing the future, the future is not guaranteed only this moment is guaranteed

Well said gmp, own nothing now & the only responsibility i have is to my health & let the moments happen 1 day at a time. Life has a way of rewarding you if you are true to yourself. One of your biggest mistakes was thinking that at 65 years of age you are/were a “young man”. 65 is an old man as is 70 years of age! Thinking that she’s with you because you’re appealing, or handsome, or sexy is just delusional. But, some guys don’t care if the girl really enjoys being with them or not. They’re fine with exploiting these young girls that are seriously poor and disadvantaged.

The high inflation is a significant reason why most retirees have sleepless nights. The increase in prices of everyday items puts them at risk of running out of money. As prices rise, the amount of money retirees can withdraw from their retirement savings also increases.
@Nernst96

The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

Mike, I'm 76 and have been retired in the mountains of Panama for nearly twenty years. My wife passed four months ago at 69 from a cardiac issue that had dogged her since she was 31. So I am in the process of grieving and assessing what my future my bring. I'll be okay. Stoicism says accept change. Accept death. Three years ago, I was overweight, had type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, brain fog, gum disease, you name it, I was headed to being one of those guys who you are seeing getting old and in the danger zone. Then, by a twist of fate, I switched to eating the carnivore diet way. Meat, eggs, butter, salt, and water. That's it. Over these three years I've lost the weight and all of my health concerns have vanished. I am now fit and energetic and excited about life. I have several hobbies that fill my days, along with being the maintenance man around this house that my wife and I built here. The Standard American Diet is filled with inflammatory "foods" that age us prematurely and put us at risk of an untimely death. I'm happy that I had the strength to face my sugar and carbohydrate addictions and change my life. I am now living with a lot less stress about my health and impending doom. I wish you strength and returned happiness Mike.

Dealing with Filipino bureaucracy you can solve by not caring how long it takes. Having learned one thing about PI, is that money always talks. With that in mind, letting your wife take care of these mundane things is the right way to go. Your mission is to provide that financial stability, know your young wife as often as you can, and enjoy the life you have made for yourself in a foreign country. As long as your teenage stepson does not turn to drugs, crime or starts wearing dresses, he'll be fine. Teach him about money and how to avoid bad women and you're done.

The key to aging disgracefully is to have one or two hobbies that you enjoy with a passion. To get outside your comfort zone. At 79 I still sail solo aboard my 30ft boat summer and winter. When it’s not suitable for sailing I throw a leg over the motorcycle and head off on long rides to visit distant friends. When the weather is that bad that neither sailing nor riding is safe, I light the fire, curl up with a good book and a glass (or three) of whisky to hand. It helps that I have an understanding wife who lets me pursue my hobbies and is always there when I come home, exhausted, from my wandering. She is not young either, and has her own, separate hobbies and friends. We eat good food, drink good wine and have good conversations. We don’t dwell on the future, beyond planning our next (separate) holidays. Why separate? Because we are interested in different places and activities. Methinks you need to seek some advice on how to deal with depression.

There's nothing we can do about getting old so no point worrying much, but there is a lot we can do about living healthy. We all know how to do it because of the voice in the back of our head: don't smoke, don't drink, no sugar, and daily excercise. It's never too late to start with that. I've made it a rule to run a marathon every two years on a holiday location in order to keep me motivated. I'm currently 57 and I will keep it up as long as possible.

That's great about your diet, and at 57 may be okay. Just as a heads up, though, some recent research suggests too much exercise can actually be counterproductive as the years progress. I'm sure more will be known in 10 years or less. Resistance training and moderate aerobics does the trick for me at 68. I prefer swimming and walking to running, since my joints wont take it. Cutting out sugar and most refined carbs is a must. Keep up the good work!

You are blessed to get old. Many don't make it Enjoy this season, and don't eat processed food; water fast, work out daily. Stay away from sugars the best you can. Enjoy the journey , take each challenge as an opportunity to grow, & embrace peace. Acceptance is important. I learned that from a 90 yr old Buddhist monk. I obsessed about death when I was in my thirties. When I accepted that we are all going to die with 100% probability and that it made no sense to worry about it, I erased it from my mind. Moving to France recently with the time to explore new cultures and hobbies has made me mentally 10-15 years younger. There is so much what life we have to explore -- seize every moment and don't worry about things you cannot control. Your nightmare is a distant dream for the vast majority of people who are still lucky to be alive at your age. (BTW, moving to France has removed the whole healthcare issue from my stresses. OTHO, they are the world champions of bureaucracy -- i just deal with it and learn to be patient ). Don't worry about things you can't control. Keep staying healthy and active. Find new hobbies (I started a blog, learned how to take better photos and videos and edit them, learned French and now started learning Italian, take a trip every 2-3 month somewhere in France or Europe, make it a point to meet people from all over the world and now `i have people to visit in a dozen countries. I also used to obsess when a celebrity dies and realized that they are close to my age or younger, but then I remember that they are NOT me. Carpe diem !

The biggest fear that I have, is dying in some shitty nursing-home, shitting and lying in my own piss, for hours. It was like returning to the Moon, it was so quiet and different and I knew no one after being away for so long. I contracted Myasthenia Gravis, a serious auto immune disease that causes grave muscle weakness. My Vn partner of 21 years is still in Vn due to the onset of dementia. I am going nuts with loneliness and isolation. You have it good by comparison. Try to see the good side of things more. You still have your health. The average lifespan of a Western man is 82. Mainly because I don’t want to take that next inevitable step into old age and retirement. I did the whole stepdad thing with my Filipino stepson, but I was in my 20's/30's. Honestly, I couldn't imagine doing it with a Filipino teenager in my 60's/70's. That's way too much stress for me in my retirement. The Filipino culture is NOT one that stresses personal responsibility. Kids grow up much more slowly in the Philippines and Filipino mothers tend to treat them like babies way too long. Chances are, if you attempt rein in his typical teenage behavior, you'll just get the standard "yes, yes", smile and nod routine, and then your wife and stepson will just do whatever they want to do behind your back. I'm not suggesting you shouldn't play hardball with him to help keep him check, but I think you'll be forced to accept the reality that your influence as an American stepdad is minimal at best. You do however enjoy the power of the purse strings, and shouldn't be shy of reminding him that there WILL be consequences for him failing to keep his nose to the grindstone. If Janet is a typical Filipino mother, she'll likely bail him out of whatever trouble he gets himself into and he'll learn nothing. Frustrating!

I was glad to hear the realization towards the end of the clip that especially as you age, staying healthy should be Priority #1. At 67, I make it a point to work out strenuously for least a half-hour daily - and that doesn't mean just going for a brisk walk. It's hiking and biking challenging uphill climbs, rowing machine, swimming laps, strength workouts doing pull-ups, pushups and dips, etc. I decided to give up competitive sports because of loss of athleticism and the injury risks involved, but find I don't miss them that much. And along with that commitment should be an equally strong one to eating healthy and getting enough sleep. At this rate, I feel I'll be able to maintain my current fitness level at least another ten years. My main concession to aging has been not going out nearly as much now, but since that usually involves drinking and missing out on sleep, it's something I'm willing to sacrifice in favor of staying healthy.

But lately, I've been seriously rethinking my goals because of my age and health issues. I agree with you concerning getting myself healthier physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I'm working on the first three, but for some reason, it's difficult to work on my spiritual side. I haven't been to church in about 7 years. I know reconnecting with God would help me in many ways. Maybe I slipped farther away from God then I thought. Anyways, I know that you didn't touch on this subject and maybe you're fighting the same thing I am too. Sometimes I'll allow things that happen to me to drive a wedge between God and me. I know, it's a process to get closer to God. One step at a time. And as I'm writing this, I realized I'm talking to myself too. There are KZbin videos about old people and their regrets on life and what they wish they had done. Very interesting. Looks like you and me both are doing a lot of reflecting. Take care and God Bless.

I don't have kids of my own, but I came from a large family and have always tried to mentor younger people who seemed adrift with no direction. It's a rewarding experience.

I just got back last night from the Philippines and Thailand. My girlfriend there has 2 children. The older 14 year old daughter is a dream, the son who is 11 is a nightmare. I made the hard decision that I’m done with raising children and will soon make the change necessary to provide as soft a landing for her and the kids as I wind down the relationship. When you take on a relationship with kids everything becomes more complicated and expensive, not what I have envisioned for my retirement. Yet another lesson learned.

Awesome video my friend! I can totally relate to just about everything you talked about, including the stepson living here in the Philippines. However, one thing I noticed between our lifestyles that I didn't here you mention is a relationship with the creator of us all. Having a good healthy relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ I believe will ease a lot of tention as you continue living here abroad. At least consider this if you're not currently experiencing this. And if you have in the past and walked away, just give it another go. All the best my brother.👍

Who wants to hear this guy piss and moan and woe is me? Nobody wants to hear that. If you’re not willing to lift people spirits up then I suggest you stop making videos. You sound so pathetic and depressing and who wants to hear you whine about things you have no control over?

I'm 77 going on 78, & I'm am living the reality of being in the end of the life cycle. I'm experiencing what arthritis does to your body. Three years ago I was treated & survived throat cancer. But most sobering is I'm starting to see close friends & relatives die off. Somethings are impossible to ignore. There was a 2-month period of this year where I had 3 close friends die. So make the most of every new day & always get as much real joy out of your life. Life is unfairly short.

Ill share my big health save for 2024. I noticed some changes to my health at age 60 that i never had before. Rather than mindlessly writing it off to age...i watched videos on foods. It turned out i was approaching insulin resistance from what i was eating. After turning to direct from nature food, eliminating pastries and processed foods, all symptoms cleared up and i feel 10 years younger. No money was spent on tests or meds.

I've travelled a bit since 65 y/o, and have visited Malaysia, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. In Kaula Lumpur now, and will hit the Philippines for the first time on January 7th, when I arrive in Cebu. Not out for much else but the cheaper cost of living, which is good for someone on a Pension. Love the tropical weather, and the food has been great wherever I've been. Making life enjoyable, but that ice seems very thin at times Do it well Mike.

That's just one reason why I would never move there. People talk about the Philippines as if it were some type of "paradise." It is not. Its a third-world country where half the population exist on $2 a day. For me, 2-week vacations only to enjoy the beach resorts and nightlife if I want it. But after 2 weeks I've had enough and am ready to come home to a first-world country with my own language, culture, first-world heatlhcare and mentality.

@@sugoidesshoagree. The Philippines is no country for old men. Folks who go and stay there are mostly those who can't afford the cost of living in their own country, usually the US, with their social security and or a small pension. I'm originally from the Philippines but the only reason I'll stay there for more than 4 weeks at a time is to check off my bucket list of Philippine spots, which I admit are quite gorgeous and impressive. Or maybe stay there for good when I am really old and decrepit, and need 24/7 nursing care and don't care when my next stroke will be, instead of getting dumped in a nursing home that reeks of urine here in the US. I'd rather walk around naked in my drawers along the beaches of El Nido than wander aimlessly the streets of Tampa Bay 😢

@@josephrobi6806 Yes in America the cost of living is higher but that applies to all first-world countries. Even in spite of the high COL the majority of people around the world want to emigrate to the USA, in far greater numbers than any other country. No country in the world is perfect. I'm British and despite its problems I love America and if they had a retirement visa I'd move to Florida tomorrow. In my view, the best compromise is to base yourself in a first-world/Western country in areas/states/regions which match your income, and then go to third-world countries for vacations and get your rocks off in bars if you need young female company. Men pay for that one way or another. PH is just one country out of 196 worldwide. Why confine yourself to only one country where the majority of its citizens want to get the hell out of there and its biggest export is its people? I suspect the main reason why so many old Western guys retire to PH is to hook up with/date much younger Filipinas or to find a 'traditional' younger wife because of age discrimination in the West. I understand that, but as we can all see and in the case of this you tuber, that comes at a hefty long-term price and/or with 'baggage: e.g. impoverished single moms with kids and ageing parents to support. Whether with kids or childless and whatever their age, poor/working class Filipinas look to older Western guys as a finaincial lifeline, as substitute for an employer and a type of retirement plan for them and their family. It's an unspoken and unwritten contract in PH even though not many Filipinas will admit it. Marriage can be a financial and loss of freedom trap for men and I'm glad I'm no longer in one. Each to their own.

I'm 70, born in October 1954. Stress is nothing but a war in your head. Win the war! Don't let things get to you. Never tell yourself you are getting old; you'll just get older faster. Nobody believes me when I tell them I'm 70; they say I look more like I'm in my 50s. I don't drink or smoke. I take lots of supplements, and I never worry. I also have a girlfriend in Cebu who is much younger than me. I'm still working in California, but I'll retire in June, pack my bags, and move to Cebu City. Make a video next time telling people you feel young and alive instead of making these types of videos. Live your life one day at a time. Hope to meet you someday.

That's the problem in any undeveloped country. Healthcare is a nightmare. Can't find health insurance to insure you. A few does but it cost between $400 to $600 a month with limited coverage. Then advanced medical knowledge is lacking & most hospitals all ill equipped unless you're in a big city & have a lot of money.

My younger brother married a Filipino 22 years ago. They have spent that time working their socks off in the UK. They have visited the Philippines (Mindanao) many times, investing in property and land for their retirement. Within the past 6 months my brother has had two heart attacks. He is 56. He has now been medically retired from his job as a London bus driver. He is adamant he will return to the Philippines from the UK early next year for good. I worry as where his property is located in Mindanao local hospitals are not that good. In my opinion, he will be lucky to hit 60 let alone 70.

Mike, i have caught a few of your videos over the past months. I personally am just entering the retired life (just retired New Years day this year 2025). I am watching this Video.... You covered WIDE range of topics... I have many thoughts but wont drag this out. Each day we ALL have to make decisions about how we want to live our lives. some of our previous decisions have created paths/flows that the rest of our lives will follow (At least without a MAJOT upheaval). You have chosen your path... are you getting older? Certainly, just as all of us are. You are ahead of me, I am behind you, but that doesn't change the fact that each day time goes by for us both. I am reminded of a phrase I hear many years ago... I don't exercise to live a LONG life... I exercise to LIVE LIFE as long as I can. Don't focus on all the things that suck. Be grateful for the things you have. LIVE life and Enjoy everyday. When you die/pass away/expire/ or input whatever verbiage you want.... It will be somebody else's problem because you wont know, noire care at that moment. Back to the statement about worries, of all these THINGS that, MIGHT happen... can you? do you really think you can prepare for ALL contingencies? For every event that Might happen? The old measure was in a 100 years who will care or even know... Nothing here meant to make you feel bad.... Just saying... focus on the here and now (“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” - Buddha)
