Dude is a beast. He's got attitude, and what Primus is known for, it attitude. Dude looks "experienced" (yeah, that includes the Hendrix meaning), very strong, very fast, and probably has endurance AND he is seasoned by the looks of it. He's got my vote.

Mike Terrana is a well known Monster...Saw him at NAMM one year in a Plexiglas booth killin' it!...Knowing how this Biz works I can see Primus considering a proven Pro like Mike. Yeah, I know all the kids want a shot at it, But This Fella can play anything!
@scottthroop620817 күн бұрын
I will never forget the first time I saw Mike on the drums. Way back, just before his Tony Mac Alpine days, I met him through my business partners at NAMM, and visited him at his home a few weeks later. He had a small 10x10 sound room built within his garage with his monster mirror gold drum kit filling it up, with just barely room to stand in front of it. Mike proceeded to go off on a solo with the 3 of us standing just inches in front of the bass drums. To witness an amazing drummer of that caliber up close where you can literally feel every note, and feel the breeze of his drum sticks was a once in a lifetime experience. It was like an intense choreographed fireworks finale during an earthquake, LOL!

@@morbidmanmusic I don’t follow what you’re saying. Where exactly are the rough spots lol
@yittmashups28 күн бұрын
@ronniek7748 Many times the bass hit 'rolls' (and sometimes just normal kicks) are a bit sped up ahead of the beat , and just my opinion but there's way too much of the double bass going on. He's a great player, but if he would do less double bass activity and concentrate on 100% locking into the groove it'd be better.

@miketerrana would not only be the most logical choice based upon his vast experience, precise execution of phrasing…even those intentionally “Primus” lackadaisical planned chaos…he’s a proven call drummer and what we call a seasoned road warrior, as being a touring drummer is mentally, spiritually and physically demanding. His fluency of reading/writing charts is top notch. He’s also helped directly mentor countless other drummer’s, musicians, techs and production staff. I would love to tech for Mike. It’s been 20 year’s, but it will be as if we haven’t skipped a beat…ghosts or grace 🥁🙏❤

I think you played great and I wish you the best of luck. What I was hoping is that drummers auditioning would do medleys of a few Primus songs as well as just some Freeform groove beats and fills. I think that would be the best demo if I were in their shoes trying to decide to who to meet in person. Just some thoughts.
@PoppaBadger23 күн бұрын
In all honesty, I've watched many auditions and only a few have REALLY stood out as top contenders. I'm 53 yrs old, so I've been playing the drums for awhile, but I have an ear for special qualities that many people don't pay attention to and showmanship is definitely is one. You don't want to be over the top because you can't be because Les is the top and he's the lead showman during his concerts, so I'm looking for someone who will NOT try to outshine the boys, but will fit in and work with, and take direction from, others who have been a part of that scene for a long time. That being said, this fellow may be too "big" of a personality, because quite honestly, any drummer is going to be in the shadows of Les Claypool when a part of Primus (sucks). So, im guessing they're going to pick someone technical, with a fun but serious work ethic, who will do they're job, as required. This would be a gig i would not try out for. Good luck big guy!!!🫡👍🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

@danielwitham179124 күн бұрын
Double kicks go out of time far too often for this to be considered, when compared to a couple of other pro drummers auditions. I was really hoping he'd absolutely kill it, but I'm not the only drummer who's picked up on the doubles going out of time along with some less noticeable things. Even non drummers should be able to pick up on it with a couple of listens. To good drummers it's not quite nails on a chalkboard, but it cuts rough. I wish he just didn't play so much double bass. Much of the song was absolutely fire. Some overplayed bits are brilliant, but being out of time and it being consistently the double bass, shows too much of a problem with a part of drumming that's a must for replacing Tim. Damn, I wish it wasn't so coz he obviously has good chops, experience and a sense of humour 😢
