Same as a prime cain Velasquez. Jones didn’t even fancy a move into that weight class until he beat Cormier the second time around(while being on steroids)and for the first time called out the mighty Brock lesnar. Jones vs Gane ticket sold out during fight week and Jones vs Stipe was trending to be sold out come fight week as well as MSG was not a big enough venue compare to Las Vegas. Jones and Connor have the highest ticket price in the industry. The cheapest sit in the Jones vs Stipe fight is 1200 dollars while the highest ticket is 100k dollars. They wanna build it as the heavyweight GOAT Vs the GOAT but they’ve both barely fought in years and Stipe is coming off a knockout loss from 3 years ago… They’re only doing it because he wants to say Jones is the GOAT and that he would’ve beaten Ngannou but they could do that with Tom too and if they make Stipe Vs Tom first and then Stipe wins, not only do they get an extra fight from Stipe, they’ve made the Stipe Vs Jones fight big and interesting again. How is Tom Aspinall a gentleman? He was one and one in his last two fight. Was gifted and interim title because Dana White can't risk putting Gane in there with Sergie and having Gane win. Then procceed to deny Gane a shot out of revenge while saying Gane should fight Almedia, knowing fully well that Gane will loose that fight. Decided to call out a fighter who is coming off a loss, Tai tuivasa who is a very easy match up for him. Saying the greatest fighter of all time Jon Jones should be stripped of his belt because he got injured. If that is your idea of a gentleman, you better check your standards. That is a cocky entitled brat to me.

Great interview. I really like this kid n liked him when he first came into the UFC . I’m big goon like him and I noticed his speed and agility and that’s a huge advantage. So cool to hear Andy speak about Tom's training growing up this is the most detail I've heard of it. Goes to training with Tyson before he fights the GOAT boxer and Peter ends up bringing him on as a full time partner after just one session. Skill level is freakish.

God damn I know Bisping works for the UFC but he needs to stop being such a company guy. Tom is speaking straight facts regarding Jones still being the undisputed champ even though he's out for a year and also about Gane trying to jump the line now that Tom has the belt when he was previously ducking him. It's all well and good to play devils avocado but at a certain point you need to call a spade a spade

'devils avocado' Don't know if that was deliberate or not but that made me crack up.
@BRAINFxck10 Жыл бұрын
No, Tom doesn’t call the shots he’s just the new guy. Bisping was the one speaking facts Stipe vs Tom doesn’t do anything for the UFC, Jon is still the man, Tom derailed a sloppy hypetrain good for him but he hasn’t won the real belt so he doesn’t have that leverage.
@ddandymann Жыл бұрын
@@BRAINFxck10 And what does having a retirement fight between two aging legends do for the UFC in the long run? Nothing, it makes them a lot of money for a one off fight at the cost of killing the division and reducing revenue in the long run. Having Tom fight Stipe and then Jones builds his star power and can turn him into the sort of money maker that GSP was in his prime. I'll remind you that Jon doesn't call the shots either, Dana does, and Dana will always do what's makes the most money.
@TheBurstlimet Жыл бұрын
@@BRAINFxck10 I understand where you’re coming from but don’t you think that Tom deserves the opportunity to fight Jon? Regardless of if you think Sergi was a hype job or not the UFC put an interim title on the line and Tom did the business, therefore his next fight should be against the man currently holding the full title. They did pretty much the same thing when Robert Whittaker was the interim champion and they pursed the GSP vs Bisping fight regardless of Rob having a belt or not but when they found out that GSP wasn’t returning they immediately promoted Rob to undisputed. I don’t think they should just promote Tom but I believe that if Jon is going to be out for an extend period of time they should strip him and allow Tom to fight whoever they want for the undisputed title, we’ve seen them do the same thing with the two previous light heavyweight champs in the last twelve months alone and I think it’s a bit dumb that Jon doesn’t have to play by the same rules for whatever reason. I’ve been very disinterested in the Jones vs Stipe fight from the beginning though so I might be a little more biased towards Toms point of view then others 🤷♂️

They made back to back lhw champs give up the strap so the division could move on. The UFC established that precedent themselves. Jon should be urged(forced) to vacate.
@ymb9shinzou743 Жыл бұрын
I believe they both volunteered to vacate. I think Jon should be able to hold it considering who he is, and if I'm Tom there's no sweeter way to become undisputed than prying it from the hands of the greatest fighter who ever lived.

Feel for Tom. Having just won gold to basically be then told you’ll have to wait a minimum of 18 months for a shot against stipe or Jones and even then it’s not guaranteed. For someone with a desire to be the greatest must be frustrating
@MMABones Жыл бұрын
There is nothing to feel sorry for about him. He was not the number 1 or 2 ranked guy. The only reason he got the shot for an interim title against Sergie is because Jones has already beat the Gane who was ranked higher than Tom. The fact that Tom is being ungrateful and calling for Jones to be stripped is one of the most click and disrespectful things i have seen in awhile.
@scom5918 Жыл бұрын
Fair point about the rankings but it was the UFC who asked Tom to step in for the interim. Otherwise why not have it as a number 1 contender fight? They needed Tom in that moment as I guarantee he was the only one who would accept against Sergei that short notice. So, they owe him one for sure

Him defending an interim title is absolutely ridiculous and makes a mockery of the purpose of the interim title! Have Stipe and Jones fight their little legacy bullcrap fight and let's move on with the division! Andy is so overlooked as a coach, but the man has a wealth of knowledge, and has the right mindset for training, getting hurt is bad, but being too comfortable is just as bad... The team he has crafted to train Tom, and the level that he and the other HW fighters he is training with have achieved speaks a testament to his skill as a coach. Keep on working hard, both of you, you should be very proud of eachother, and here's to a long run as UFC HW champion of the world.
