The flag drop boxes are for dropping off faded/damaged flags. The drop boxes are sponsored by the VFW and The American Legion. When the drop boxes are full, they come and empty the boxes and have flag retirement ceremonies that are open to the public. Contact your local VFW or American Legion to find out when they have these ceremonies, and attend one. They can be emotional sometimes.

The Boy Scouts set up old mail box drop offs where I put all the flags I find. Sometimes local groups or clubs also set up drop boxes for old flags

Hey Mike, some of those DeWalt fans have had issues with the speed selector switch going out. So test it, but also try bypassing that switch and put power straight to the motor and see if that makes any difference before throwing it in the scrap heap

If the Dewalt fan isn't running check the brushes. Might be an easy repair/replacement of corroded brushes that just sat in a humid climate too long. Also these lights look very very expensive. Might be just an easy driver replacement. Looking forward to the follow up.

I went to a big 10 college. I had an artist friend that would always dumpster dive behind apartment buildings at the end of each semester. He constantly found antiques. Dinning room sets, clothes dressers, china etc. Students would move out and leave everything. Particularly med students. He would sell most, but kept a lot of the antique furniture for himself and wife. His house was full of good and high quality antiques.

My sons and I would pick them up wherever we found them. I was able to save and reuse many of them. The very damaged ones were disposed of by our local Fire Department and Boy Scouts.
