Great work! For me i didn see improvements when i cut down to every 2 weeks or 30 days. I lost 20 pounds but i couldn't lose my belly. I guess women's bodies are different to men? However now im trying 50 to 60 days in between to see if that works n doesn't interfere in my progress. Im working out 5 days a week, 4 with weights and one with hiit cardio. Weekends to rest or short walks. I think its different if you already have muscle n toned body. N probably can get away with 2 or 3 weeks but not if ur still trying to lose some fat.

I used to go out almost every weekend with my friends. When I was 19 I used to be one of the only guys from my friend group going to the gym. And I’ve heard about you know, surrounding yourself with like minded people. If you want to be jacked, look to hangout with people who prioritize nutrition and gym etc. But shortly after one by one my friends started wanting to join the gym. And here we are years later, I still have the same friends, we all love the gym, we’re all way more jacked and loving life. I get paid weekly so the source of wanting to go out was very common. But now we’re all on track, we’re saving our $ and to be honest “going out” wasn’t as fun anymore when you go out every single weekend. That’s why we save those special nights for friends birthdays or gatherings and save the hangover for those few times a year. And my physique, my bank and my liver thanks me for it. And I hope whoever reads and has a similar predicament, make the change! You don’t have to erase your friend group, but make sure you work on yourself. And if your friends want to join the train to Gainsville, then all aboard! Great vid Mike!

I think what a lot of people don’t realize is that some people have the desire to always get drunk so we can “ease up,” on liquor. Men approach women more when their drunk/women become flirtatious and willing to make out with a stranger when their drunk. After 3 weeks it’s easy to not want to get drunk, but the first few weeks sucks because you realized how boring/flawed you are 😐
@redbull197334 жыл бұрын
@@betteryourself452 Totally agree with you. And besides that, I think drinking alcohol is part of group behavior/herd mentality. Not to sound old and wise, 46 here and in the best shape of my life. An example, I have this new girlfriend about the same age as me. She's still a party girl and drinks excessively at times. For the rest, we have a lot in common and making fun (without excessive drinking). This whole alcohol thing, I am not a fan of it, and she knows that very well. She is also attracted to my fitness level and physique and that makes her a bit insecure. it's a lifestyle, I said. There's nothing wrong to better yourself and you have an own will also, but you have to want it too. She comes from a background where parents and other family are serious alcohol abusers and normalized it. They are all overweight and having health issues, still having that party attitude. It is and looks a bit pathetic in my eyes. So she did go to a few parties drinking much less or sober. She also admitted that these parties suddenly became a bit boring and annoying. It made her thinking... Excuse me for probably bad English writing, I am Dutch. ;-)
@betteryourself4524 жыл бұрын
@@redbull19733 hello sorry for the late reply. You're english is actually quite well. To be honest, I was honestly going through what your girlfriend was going through. I'm 25 years old, so I moved to Miami to live the extravagant party life. I use to think living the party life and having the beach body was, "attainable," at the same time, however the longer i was living in Miami, the harder it was to want to be in the best shape of my life because of the drugs and alcohol i was doing. I guess what I am trying to say is, it humbles me that despite you and your girlfriends age, it is still ok to live your life and keep it at a balance. 2020 has been a wake up call for me (especially the covid-19 impact), so i think it's officially time to take a break from the fast life :) hope you are doing well.

Great video Mike, I can totally relate to this issue. I'm 23 and going out is one of my biggest hobbies. The best tip from me for this dilemma is actually to try to just not drink at all when you go out. Think you gotta be careful if cutting food to make room for alcohol calories on a day you know you are going to be drinking, as a uni student in the UK feel this is not the most sensible idea as you need carbs etc to line your stomach prior to alcohol - from personal experience not eating enough before a night of drinking can go pretty badly... I understand people with proper goals for their physique probably won't drink so much this matters but for students etc think realistically you just have to put the drinking calories behind you and get on with things

I'v been sober for 9 months now, doing a 1 year challenge. It was one of the worst years of my life. I achieved opposite effect from what I actually wanted. I feel like shit, bored and depressed. Life is short and we should enjoy it. It is all about the balance , no extreme is good

booze is the only drug you have to apologise for not taking! it's crazy how it's so embedded in culture. I've done 3 months sober to help my training out too. nice one Mike!

Yes, it's crazy, so socially encouraged and accepted. Weed in the US has become the same thing to where people get offended when you say you don't smoke. I love the booze but trying to stop.

From personal experience and coming from a person who gyms religiously, tracks macros, writes ever rep set and exercise down etc. Do not train on the day you are going to have a heavy drinking session that night, it's detrimental to muscle growth, maybe do a light session if you want just for a bit of a pump but don't go all out. You won't give your muscles a chance to recover and get stronger, you've just broken the muscle down and now you aren't giving it adequate rest or nutrition to rebuild. in my experience you can even get weaker. For example I have noticed if I do a heavy chest session then drink heavily that night, not only will I be sore for a few days after on my next chest session I'll even be a bit weaker. Training the day after drinking I say is fine as long as you are adequately hydrated and have eaten enough, I'd say go in the late afternoon or at night though when you've had a bit more chance to rest and fill up on food. I've never noticed a drop in performance or felt weaker, maybe just have pre workout on this day and you are good to go.

I’ve stopped drinking alcohol since going gym, I just see a night out meaning a gym session wasted but that’s just my opinion

Love your videos Mike, there's always something new to learn from each and every single one of them! I myself, have never been a big of a drinker, specifically, this is because it has always been quite hard for me to build my physique, and when you see all your hard work being thrown away out the window for some hours of "fun" you know it's not worth it. Now whenever I drink, it's mostly occasionally and it feels like it's a celebration, and most important you appreciate it more, to be honest. I appreciate all the ideas you share in your content and I find myself very familiar with these situations in which, you are "the strange guy" by not drinking and pretending you have a drink in your hand, just so that others don't bother you with joining them in drinking so you can feel as "you are a part of something". 🤣 Always looking forward with a lot of enthusiasm to your uploads, would have loved to do a training session with you while you were living in London. I think it would be great if you would do a seminar here once, or do some training sessions with the subscribers! 😂 All the best, and thank you for the great wisdom shared ! 👏😊👍✌

I stopped drinking alcohol several years ago. I can have just as much fun sober as I did drunk. The only difference is I can drive home at the end of the night sober. My problem is eliminating sugar.

i need to find a healthy balance between fitness and living. Sometimes I'm too hard on myself and don't let myself enjoy anything. I will not have sugar, drink nothing but water, won't go out to eat with friends, etc. That deprivation often leads to me going on an absolute binge where I just go mad, eating like 3 trays of oreos or some shit. It's weird because although I look better than most people could dream of looking, my self confidence is almost at an all time low resulting from my fitness journey. My muscles are never as full as I would like them to be, and they probably never will because I will always crave more. My social life has taken a hit. And when I go on my binge episodes I feel nothing but hatred towards myself for my lack of control.

Amazing! When I used to have hangovers, the next day I always used to fast and do about 300 calorie diets, like only drinking water, a fruit, some nuts with honey. This was not because I knew it's good for the body, but because I just never had the appetite, but Mike just confirms that it's a good idea to bring calories down the next day, so that alcohol is broken down, which was exactly my thought process. Mike, wish you all the prosperity in life. You're very kind for sharing these tips.

Just gave up alcohol for Lint, so I'm exciting to see the difference cutting out drinking on the weekends will make. I'm not sure if you've ever made a video about this, but if you haven't already it would be interesting to see you discuss your body recomposition process from where you started to what you would consider your best physique. Thanks!
