Best deal I have found on the curado k and slx is on aliexpress. You can get a curado k for about 115-120$ and a slx for less than 80$. Only drawback is shipping takes a couple weeks.

It shows our age when we talk about rod length and what was popular when we were coming up. I've got old Berkley Lightning Rods with pistol grips and I don't think any are over 7 ft. Longer rods just weren't a thing unless you were surf casting. Anyway, it's something to see the transitions over the years. I couldn't fish a pistol grip now to save me! Lol

For $100-$130 I would recommend a Shimano scorpion 1501xt. I read all the specs, and it is practically the same as curado 201e7. In fact, 11 year old posts on twitter say that the scorpion is better because it comes with abec 7s and curados come with abec5 or 3s. None the less, it holds a great amount of thick line, and is built like a Nokia. Practically bombproof. I’ve seen that you like the curado e7s and I would recommend the scorpion xt1500 series because of the price different. On eBay today, a typical curado e7 goes for $250, but a scorpion goes anywhere from $80 to $130. Awesome videos 👍

I am still in love with my Powell Endurance 806 CF for punching. It is extremely well balanced and a beast. The good ol curado is my favorite punching reel. I have a couple Lews super duty's. They work great, but have one nagging flaw. When you hang your 1 1/4 oz + punch bait on a open hook holder the roller bearing gives after a while creating enough slack for the bait to fall off. It is annoying. My Shimano's never did that. Halo rods have interested me for a while now. I may pick on up to replace my Mojo bass punching stick. Talk about a waste of money. That thing is some top heavy trash. I had to add over an ounce to the butt to balance it. If you know punching, you know a top heavy rod will wear you out quick. Balance is more important that overall weight.
@upstateangler95755 жыл бұрын
The shimano SLX is the best budget reel made . You know its a quality product if its coming from shimano and at $99 you cant beat it . 150 size spool so will hold larger diameter braid or take staright floro. The DC version is only 180 . The diawa tatula CT is also a killer reel at like $129 . Recommend either and you will not be disappointed thats for sure

For the money, the Shimano SLX XT is one of the best in that price range. I’m by no means a Shimano fan boy. I have reels I use from most brands and price ranges. My favorite up until this point has probably been the Daiwa Tatula SV. Since I bought and have been using the $130 dollar SLX XT, it’s probably become my favorite for the price.

Shimano Revo X.... 99.00 bucks....And for flipping and Frogs the Kingcast Spartacus has a crazy strong drag that no other reel companys can hang with... 20+ pounds of drag.. And you can really fine tune them popping the cover off the spool side 1 threw 10 dial ... caught my PB last week with one.. 13.13 pounds...Since Feb of this year I’ve caught 19 bass over 8 pounds... 16 over 7pounds.. 10.1, 9.8, 9.4 bla bla bla... But a cheap strong drag for frogs and punching, Spartacus is it... 60 bucks.. fast ⚙️ too

Does Halo make a punching , flipping rod of 7 plus feet where the actual rod extends from and retracts into the butt of the rod.. I have 2 7' lockers on my boat and need to be able to have something like that to fit in them. Lews use to make one And it worked great until I accidentally broke it.

I'm using Slx on 1 of my flippin sticks.. I like it because its a smaller profile reel compared to my casitas.. I use the casitas for bigger swimbaits and punching.. I feel like the casitas if build a little better and stronger.. They say the casitas is the curados little brother.. But the casitas is hard to find since shimano stopped making it.. And I wanna say the casitas has brass gears.. Not sure if the Slx has hagane gear or frame tho.. Youll be happy with either 1 I think..

Dude cool setups! I.gotta get that 711 hvy,and a spin 610 ks2elite.i currently have711 xhvy Matt daddy okuma Scott Martin rod,and a xxhvy swimbait rod for beast hooks and citizens. But those are different bait categories. I want that limber tip to pin em down, and go in and dig em out. I've had a mismatched setup before,and if the rod unloads you lose the fish.....can't beat the lews 8.3to1 shallow spool skipping reel,and the 8to1 tatula elite pitch and flip reel. Both good values ,and my favorite for jigs,or flipping. I've never owned a Shimano reel for fresh water. But I understand what makes a good foundation. Both the lews,and daiwa have aluminum frame,and side plates,solid under a load like pitching mats.Go MikeyBalzz!

Mike, live in Central Florida and tho I have fished nearly 60 years (mostly up north) I never learned how to punch. I fish kayak tournaments and think punching would be very effective on a yak. However the thought of wrestling a 7'11" rod on my 10.5 yak is daunting. Looking for suggestions, like the Halos, MAY even be able to afford a TI. Thinking something in the 7'6" (little bigger or little smaller, ok ) and any advice would be welcome. Yes, I am working on 100%ing your videos. Yes, pet BOG for me. Tightlines!

7 6 will definitley work, i just like that little bit longer deal to have a little softer tip on there for pumping the bait and when the fish just hold it instead of htiting it. i actually flip a 1.25, a .75 and a half in close quarters on a 7 6 halo xd iii heavy.
