We are out on Lake Guntersville looking for the winning tournament pattern. Main lures are soft plastic worms, hover rigs, Texas Rig, big swimbaits, and a little crawfish trick we are going to test. But it may be a total scam - only way to see is do an experiment and see if giant bass like it.

it's very kind of you to share all of your insight on how you go about pre fishing. with the millions of choices out there for what to tie on to try to fool that lunker, explaining why you chose those few baits helps us fishing for fun guys hopefully catch a few more. best wishes this weekend. think you got this although sharing your testing on you tube before the tournament might not be the best idea. if they are suspended on game day might want to try a massive swim bait for a few casts warming up the spots.

try the VMC Drop Dead hook 5/0. has the widest gap for a 5/0, medium gauge wire so you can use with braid or flouro. works awesome on the Mag fluke or mag speed worm

@@mikeybalzz just be careful after multiple fish and or a big fish the hook starts to bend out. just check it frequently. but once they are pinned they don't come off

Mikey - Owner do a long-ish screwlock frog hook, works well for 7"flukes. Cut off the centre pin on screwlock, as this just messes up the plastic and rips a big hole in the nose. Tight lines for comp day 👍

I found that pattern on pickwick several years ago I used a 7/0 and 11/0 owner worm hook and added nail weights to the belly section of the mag fluke and could catch 12 inches on it with the bigger hook

Have you tried a steady reel with one fast turn, short pause then back to a steady reel. I don’t have FFS, the above works for suspending fish. I use it with almost anything, spinnerbaits, weighed soft bait’s, tail spinners, traps and all. It’s covers water and easy on my arthritis 😮 Good 👍 luck 🍀

Mikey , try the 8" Deps Sakamata Shad . It's a thicker body than the 7" Fluke , I throw it on an 8/0 unweighted Owner Beast hook as it will last a lot longer verses throwing it on an 8/0 EWG. They also make a heavy weight version which I also own but for whatever reason haven't thrown it yet. You will be pleasantly surprised how many bites it gets where I'm at in SW Michigan , I can only imagine the pigs you might catch throwing it at Southern largemouth.
