When they WON'T Bite Anything Else in Late Summer!

Sometimes fish become very picky about the lures they bite in late summer - and at some points they won't bite anything else but a swimbait combined with a spinner blade. I noticed that when the wind is ripping and there's a bit of cloud cover, those bass are crushing anything that has a bit of flash to it. My chrome jerkbait was just getting murdalized by nice fish the other day.

Here in VA, the largemouth were absolutely crushing topwater baits a month ago. But, now the strikes are pretty much non-existent. And even though they're still chasing shad, the only lure I'm having success with is a white/silver rooster tail.

I think it's the fish coming out of lethargic mode, and more willing to chase smaller schools as the nights get cooler, and it seems like a bait ball to them, so they say yup. Fall bite is getting ready to ramp up up north. Big baits all day.

@@dontnonowuno9953 th one for a $1 at walmart... havent found a better one. it got a willow/colorardo blade combo. i put 1/2 a senko on it and cut the end so itt has 4 lil tenticles. i let it sink lo rollin and rippin it thru the grass.

Mikey, with that giant hook in stained water why not fish it on 30 lb. Or 50 lb. Braid with a floro leader? I've seen a few pros fishing the flashy swimmer using smaller rigs with 30 lb. Or 50 lb. Braid with a floro leader.

starting to always lean towards an underspin. i feel like if they'll hit a standard jig head they'll prly hit an uspin. and the uspin has all those benefits you mentioned. year round deal

I was just in Florida only fishing ponds though but couldn't get bit on anything until I started swimming a rage bug was just burning one back in from flipping some reeds and bam one smashed it and broke me off (probably from flipping 12lb fluorocarbon in Reed) all I had but re rigged and started swimming and caught about 5 more
