When “deleting” the colors from other colors you don’t want; you can use a mask and get the same results. The difference being that if you end up not getting the results you desire you can just turn off/remove the mask and go back to start. Benefits of non destructive changes.

how does this work using vinyl? if i export the images by color separation can i upload them to cricut?
@madisonsmith34245 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mikey, I will certainly use your link when I do get to purchase separation studio. Quick question, I assume you can do simple spot color seps all the way up to complex like you've shown in this video.. I usually send everything off to be vectored so I can manually separate with my noob skills, would a client who provides I high quality jpeg or other format that isnt vector be able to be thrown in to this program and bypass the need to vector in some cases??
@mikeydesignssilkscreen4735 жыл бұрын
It will do simple seps as well. It can open up Adobe Illustrator files as well.

This is a really great tutorial. I just had one doubt, while trying to color separate the black text and color is turning transparent in my PSD file, is there something that I'm missing. Also I'm trying to design it for a white t shirt
@mikeydesignssilkscreen4732 жыл бұрын
You may have to boost the color in your PSD file to get the results you want. Hard to tell without seeing the art.

Thank you so much for this video! Can you take the file back into Separations Studio to print from there? I ask that because I have a Canon Pixma Pro 100 and it is supported in Studio 4 and it will print the halftones automatically. I don't have a separate RIP for the printer.
@mikeydesignssilkscreen4735 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I would just continue editing in Separation Studio 4 the best you can.

I’ve been patiently waiting on one these long tutorials. I got the SS annually subscription so I can get the updates. Do you think it’s worth it or buy the whole program without the future updates?
@mikeydesignssilkscreen4735 жыл бұрын
I'll keep some more of these style of tutorials coming because they get requested often. I think it's worth the monthly subscription because of the updates / bug fixes.

Was the original art a flat image or was it vectorized?
@mikeydesignssilkscreen4735 жыл бұрын
They had both files, but it's easier to separate using this method. I'll do a video on how to sep art solely in Illustrator in the future.

Ok im so confused i went through the whole tutorial got my entire design ready for print, but dont i need to export each color separately for each of my different screens? I just need three, underbase, red, and grey, what do i do now that my design is completely formatted for printing
@mikeydesignssilkscreen4735 жыл бұрын
If you have it ready for printing, you'll need to print film with halftones if you need that, expose your screens and setup on press. Unless I'm missing something and not getting the question?

Well, technically they do. I've created a set of Actions in Photoshop we'll release soon so you don't need additional software.

this guy is good but all of his separation tutorials i feel like are for more intermediate levels and as a beginner i always just exit his tutorials because he always uses some sort of other program and his videos are always 40 minutes plus lol
@mikeydesignssilkscreen4734 жыл бұрын
lol, I agree ;) In all honesty, there's a lot of great information in these videos. Learning to sep will take time, patience, practice, and soaking up all the free information provided. Just sayin' :)

Mikey Designs & Silk Screen no yeah ur videos are very informative but it would be great for them to be a little shorter maybe edit it more. I’m definitely a fan but as a learner they’re a bit long and if I had the same knowledge as u I’d definitely make the knowledge videos more straightforward and I swear you’d be so big on KZbin $$$

Do you actually use the pms colors they give you? And which on-any plastisol ink do you use to complete the job ? thank you for the video hope to hear back from someone lol
@mikeydesignssilkscreen4734 жыл бұрын
Mowgli Howgi lol, we’ll I’m here. 😋 just standard off the shelf plastisol inks. The only one I use that is pms colors is the c8 gray. The rest just standard ink colors.
@shadynasty63934 жыл бұрын
Mikey Designs & Silk Screen thanks for replying! So you just used whatever blue you liked ? Do you get the same colors as in separation studio? Cause I know they always use pms blue 300 and red 032 etc gold and yellow .. Am I always going to just use the 9 color s they use in separation studio to get the same results of color mixing as software? I’m not sure if that makes sense Ty for your time man
@mikeydesignssilkscreen4734 жыл бұрын
@@shadynasty6393 I've found I like using the brightest red, yellow, etc I can find. Their recommended spot colors are good for flesh tones, but don't do all that great for 85% of the work you would process through it.
