Cleaning Boosted Board - Maintenance
My Boosted V2 Dual+ is fast approaching 1300 miles on its XR Battery. It's time to strip her down and perform some basic cleaning and maintenance.
We replace the stock pulley bearings for brand new FlatLand3D Ceramic Pulley Bearings. Swap out the stock skid plates for the newer, Flexi designed skid plates.
In addition we are giving the board a deep clean, removing debris from the ESC and putting any rusted components into a White Vinegar Salt solution to make them good as new.
We apply parafin wax to the bushing cups and bushing seats to get rid of any annoying squeaks.
Generally giving this work horse the TLC that it deserves.
As well as a bit of knolling before reassemble.

@@MikeyShelley mine normally do except today when I realised 8 miles from home that I had a loose nut on the trampa (my own fault, forgot to tighten it). I had to tighten it on by hand and then ride slowly back with my gaze fixated on it! Then I grabbed the tools!!

How are your V2 trucks holding up? I ordered some V3 trucks from BoostedUSA a couple of days about for my V2D+. Now, I’m wondering if I should hold off on the swap and wait.

@@MikeyShelley I just bought them out of caution and peace of mind. I’ve gone on a spree the past week; I ordered the trucks, 77a Caguamas, Nipples, metal pulleys, JasonIndustrial belts, fresh AcerRacing bearings. Currently, my v2 is on AcerRacing bearings, 90mm Ollin Popocas, and LithiumCore belts; I’ve only clocked in 200miles the past 3 years. I got my board Spring of 2018. I’ve been watching your vid and am thinking, I’m not due for an overhaul like I thought I was. :/

I heard you can clean both Hub and Outrunner motors by using WD40 contact cleaner spray specifically designed for electronics? Have you tried that approach?

@@MikeyShelley yeah I thought it was strange too. Turns out the 'contact cleaner WD40' can be used on phones and circuit boards, dries really fast.
