I have enjoyed Mikey and his videos. Lots of videos can seem either too slow or too fast at times. Just pause the video when needed. I usually watch the videos first, until I am pretty certain that I understand the pattern. Patience is key. Good luck all.

I absolutely love Mikey's tutorials! Knit/ Crochet has been in my family for decades. I, however, have only just started learning. One of the first tutorial's I watched is this one. He is very informative and explains everything beautifully. In fact, I learned so much from his tutorial's, that I made my first baby sweater....my cousin loved it for his baby. Thank you! Please keep making videos.

Thank you so much for posting this tutorial! This is a really fun and rewarding hat to do because it comes together very quickly, and using the drawings you created of the stitches going into clusters and between the clusters, it was extremely easy to follow. I feel that you did a really thorough job of explaining everything. If I needed to do so, I just paused or rewound the tutorial a bit, to allow myself to catch up with you. I am not a very advanced crocheter, so this was very rewarding to me because it was easy to do, but so pretty when I was finished. Thank you thank you thank you!

I did just as much tearing out as stitching. The first hurdle was getting 19 clusters. I kept getting 20 clusters. I figured out the the first cluster placement is where the confusion is. I really don't remember what I had to change to get 19 but eventually got there. There hat is easier once you get past that round of 19 clusters. I stopped at 4", did the round of single crochet, then added a last row of 2 double crochet in each stitch to create a ruffled edge. Also started the base with one color, built the hat with a second color, then created the ruffle with the first color. Just adorable!

Perfect video for a beginner. Thankyou so much for taking the time to show us. Quick question for anyone who may be able to answer. It's 4.5inch from top to bottom, but how big does the first initil 4 rows have to come to? My yarn is slightly smaller than the yarn used in this video so I believe I may be getting the size wrong.

By the end of Row 4 you definitely end up with 20 clusters... give Mikey a break he didn't follow his own rule of counting the clusters before moving on lol ... just carry on ... 20 clusters is correct! Ignore the diagrams all together... they don't really help 'him help you learn how to do it' (min: 2.30) lol ... they don't really matter ...you just follow the steps he is taking in the video... if you think he is going too fast, pause the video to allow you time to follow each step. At the end you WILL end up with a cute little hat. Thank you Mikey for kindly sharing your tutorials and patterns with this confused and frustrated Crochet Crowd :-)

Thank you for the diagram for the newborn hat - that is the only way I was able to understand this pattern (first time ever for that so it was exciting), however, my granddaughter is in the NICU and I need to make the smaller 5-6 pound and I can't get it from the written directions to save my life. It doesn't seem any different but is supposed to end up smaller. I tried drawing my own diagram, but it must be the () and such that are confusing me. I don't know, but I end up with the 7-9 pound size again.

I m stuck at round 4. LOL. just couldnt get it right. seemed correct first increase, 2nd part n at the end, I got 20 or 21. I should be honest with u. Don't know whats wrong with round 4 increase. I paused n restart for about 5 times. I m quite used to yr fast speech. but this time I failed. I m just lost n frogged it back everytime. Way too fast for a tutorial. So many things are unclear like whether or not we're going into the actual chain when we go in the middle of one cluster or if we're going underneath the chain itself. I've had to restart so many times I am about to throw the entire thing across the room. I may as well just use a written pattern because the point of a video is to be able to see what is happening.

I am usually not one to complain about a free tutorial as you spend your time doing them for nothing in return, but PLEASE DO slow it down a tad bit, you seem awfully rushed. I simply cannot see a thing you're doing and I'm not getting the count or the placement right. It looks a horrible mess if I don't stop repeatedly just to check it again and again. Also, Mikey, You are precious and I just love you!

Very frustrating video because of the speed of it and all the "in betweens and the spaces". I am on the fourth row, have torn it out four times. I have attempted to write the instructions so I can understand them. I have 16 clusters in the third row and keep getting 20 in the fourth. My first cluster is in between a cluster, next in a space, next in between. For the next 5 clusters in spaces, do you start in the space right after the cluster that is in between a cluster? I did. Then I put a cluster in the space right after it and in the next 4 spaces after that. I counted the spaces to be sure that I would end up with 5 spaces at the end, which I did, but kept getting 20 clusters. If I don't do it like this, I end up with three spaces at the end. I'm sorry, this looks like a very nice hat but there are so many other instructional videos for hats that this one will not be completed because it is just to hard to understand with your drawings and in betweens and spaces. Not a novice, but made to feel very stupid.

I really wish you would pause and move your hand out of the way so we can see exactly what the Row looks like.....sometimes it gets very confusing what you say you are doing and it would help tremendously if you would just move your hand so we can see what you actually did and what the row/stitches are suppose to look like! But over all I enjoy your videos very much and have already made alot of this hats to donate to my local hospital! Would also love to see MORE hats for Baby Boys, as they all seem to be more suitable for Girls than Boys! One more thing, I thought this video was the Preemie size hat but at the end you said "7-9 lbs", that confused me! Would really like to see the "Printed Pattern' for ALL the Different sizes.....thank you.

You are able to control the speed of the videos. There is a settings button that normally looks like a gear ⚙️ that has a selection for playback speed. First, you spend way too much time explaining the diagram. I get it. The pink are the increases and they go between the double crochets in the clusters. An 18min video and you spent 5min of it explaining over and over and over. I had to skip forward because, quite frankly, it got annoying. Explain it, show your diagram then get to it and if you need to refer back, to show what you meant while you're doing it, that's great! But reiterating over and over and over is unnecessary, in my opinion. Second, this video keeps lagging for me. Did anyone else have this issue?
@sarahangell34637 жыл бұрын
No offense, but I really don't like the diagram. It's really confusing for me in so many ways, and considering that I'm a beginner at this. I'm trying to make a hat for my nephew, but this is not going to work. I'm sorry, but maybe you could make a video without the diagram.
@TheCrochetCrowd7 жыл бұрын
You can always read the instructions from the pattern if you don't wish to see my handmade diagram. I only do the diagrams to show where the stitches are leading. Up to you. If you prefer not to have the diagram, just fast forward where I talk about my diagram and just hook along in the segments where I am demonstrating the rounds.
