It’s nice that you want people to ‘remember things’, but you do your audience a great disservice by not teaching the correct terminology.. They may remember your cute terms, but if they talk to other crocheters about projects the crafter listening to them won’t have a clue what they’re hearing.. You’re actually dumbing down your audience.. And this pattern is not ‘step down’- it’s called Apache Tears. I like many of your tutorials, but I don’t like you thinking that I’m too stupid to remember correct stitch terminology- most of your audience wants to learn the stitches and patterns the same way everyone else does so we can all talk and share ‘off the same page’.. Thanks

Thank you for this BEST explanation of Tunisian crochet I’ve seen. When I tried many times, it didn’t work out. Even knowing what “looks weird is actually normal” was very helpful. I must try it again. I’ve crocheted for almost 50 years, need to learn something new.

Thank you, Mikey. I really appreciate all of your tutorials. I always look forward to learning something new and finding inspiration for future projects. In the past whenever I tried Tunisian, I was most definitely gritting my teeth. Ha! I always ended up frustrated and frogging the whole project. I definitely think my issue was with the tension and the particular patterns I was attempting. I am going to follow your advice and order a larger hook so that I can try this cowl. Thank you again!

I'm smilin"! This is very fun!! A lot like knitting. What you call "shafting" is called "sizing" in knitting JIC you don't already know that. That's bc we wrap the stitch at the hook (or narrow needle point in knitting) and then slide it down to size it. Make sense? I'm left wondering why we don't knit with hooked needles...SO MUCH EASIER. Sure it would be a bit tricky to slip the stitch off the hooked end, but that is precisely what we're doing in Tunisian, albeit from right to left instead of left to right as in knitting. I'll let me' old brain ponder that one LOL. Thanks for encouraging all of us!!
@TheCrochetCrowd

@TheCrochetCrowd

You have to block tunisian as the stitches are worked only on one side that causes that. So a couple or more rounds of regular crochet to prevent that.
