I thought the same thing. Bobby must have been furious losing, but instead of having self-doubt at becoming a champion, he became even more determined. It's a similar situation with Praggnanandha vs. Magnus. It will be interesting to see if Rameshbaba can do what Fischer did. Becoming the champion is more than being a chess genius. We have plenty. The difference in 1st and 2nd is *mental strength* under duress and intense pressure. Now, to me, Bobby Fischer was the greatest ever because of the enormous pressure in the historic match against Boris Spassky in 1972. It was the mighty USSR against the U.S. Before that championship match, Bobby had never beaten Spassky. So, with all that pressure, then to win in the convincing manner he displayed, is the ultimate demonstration of greatness in the history of chess. ♟️

Even the world champions Botvinnik didn't know what hit him in the title fight in 1960, 51 years old Botvinnik was ready a year later and he took Tal apart.. After that Tal has never recovered..

@@boboho3928 Kasparov wouldn't beat dying Tal out of respect... Kasparov was a trust gentleman, he visited Fischers cemetery in Island to pay his respect... No other champion did that.. I remember him saying ' He stopped playing at the age of 29, that's insane...

I am just amazed that they had these candidates tournaments etc organized so neatly even in 1959 and even before that. A time when there was very little technology and everything. Travelling was such a big undertaking. No cell phones, no gps, fewer flights and everything.
