Interesting and perceptive analysis of her dad's approach to Bible stories. She spoke very well, and Justin and the other guy listened well. Bear in mind that not many new Christians get to go in front of a video to talk about their still-forming faith. Pray for them. It's a vulnerable place.

@@mr.c2485 Is it objectively true that there is no objective truth? That's a self-defeating argument. Nobody can live without believing certain things- that water and soap will help you wash your hands, that food, sleep, exercise, fresh air and love will do you good when taken in the right amount and the right way. The world is full of facts about geography- from locations of continents, to where your light-switch is; history- from 1066 to what you ate for breakfast, science, maths, etc. If you want to look at truth about Christianity, you could compare the beliefs of Judaism- that Jesus lived, died, and stayed dead; Islam- that Jesus lived but didn't die; and Christianity- that Jesus lived, died and rose from the dead. They could all be wrong, but only one of them actually could be true, and which of them or none of them is a matter of history and looking at the evidence we have. The idea of subjective truths- things looking different from different perspectives: e.g. that medicine is good as it makes my dog well vs that medicine is bad because it kills worms: is a really useful one if we don't take it too far.

I’ve been studying the bible the last several months. I was becoming depressed watching our world and society crumble in front of our eyes. But watching and interacting with our Mennonite neighbors made me realize how happy they are, all helping each other and being very kind and generous to us too. I’ve had several very enlightening conversations with 2 of them that we know well. They helped me open my mind and heart to the teachings of the bible and Jesus and have answered so many of my questions. Like Mikhaila, I have no specific denomination. I do admire how the Mennonite community worship together in a very plain, simple hall. Jesus did not need a temple or a million dollar golden altar to be able to teach!

You need a good Bible church. These are hard times. You can't do it alone. Be encouraged. Jesus said the world would grow darker as in the days of Noah, just before the flood, before His return. This has to happen. It will continue to grow darker and evil will be called good and good will be called evil. You just get closer to God, read the Word, share yoru faith with a lost world, get sin out of your life. even if they dont receive it, keep witnessing. We must do this. This is why Jesus is waiting for the precious fruit of the harvest because he cares about a lost world.

Looking back, I realised all those happy, kind, loving people I'd met in my life were probably Christians. So why this doesn’t explain her reason for the divorce ? Questionable medical services for both parents ect… things changed and I don’t know why therefore God ? We don’t know if her previous husband was Christian and was praying that his marriage would work out. She admits I took chemical compounds that interacted with my brain that would normally allow me to interpret the world correctly but now that I’ve taken these chemical compounds that messed up how my brain normally works is somehow evidence for God really… and now she’s reading a book which is really a library. And labeling herself as Christian well in the book of Isaiah chapter 45 Yahweh says there’s nobody there but him and he does everything no need for all this other made up mumbo-jumbo. Spiritis which is just Latin shortened to spirit which simply means breath to deceive people who today think that spirit is some kind of energy,its not. these texts are not that complicated. God made a man out of dirt he breathed life into him and when the man died his body returned the dirt from which it came and his breath return to God from which it came. Stop with the word games. And in the English versions where it says the lord that’s a title not his name in the Hebrew it says Yahweh is that actual name. And the Latin name Jesus that guy was Aramaic speaking and of Jewish background and his name was Yeshua. Just pointing out how little people actually know about the origins of the stuff they make claims about that they have no evidence for. Because if you had actual evidence you would just present the evidence. No need for fallacious arguments etc.

So awesome to hear! I grew up in a Christian church but not necessarily a Christian home, so due to the hypocrisy of my parents I assumed that was Christianity, not their own faults. I hit rock bottom in late March/early April of this year, and decided that I needed to come to a psychological and spiritual peace before I could attempt to go further in life. In July I was saved and baptized, and on the 7th of August I feel I became fully realized in my faith (not to sound insane but I burned my occult books and prayed to release my demons and show God that I am 100% for Him and it legitimately feels like I was exorcised; I have had crippling anxiety to the point of being legally disabled, though I also have physical disabilities as well, yet I no longer experience any anxiety at all. @robertodelgado25422 жыл бұрын
I try to stay away from just personal experiences, though they are impossible to ignore. God can make a presence in your life in many ways, you are not in heaven so don’t expect it to be perfect. Suffering is inevitable in our conditions. But within suffering people can still see the light. As to belief in the supernatural is as ridiculous as believing the natural is everything there is. There are many beliefs that you can’t rationalise 100% and are still reasonable to have. Like, there are more people besides me with their own consciousness, mathematical truths are in fact true, moral objectivity, etc. I was an atheist until 2 years ago, I was a naturalist and anti religion in some sense, I can see now that I had any presuppositions that made me be anti religion. The truth is that we really can’t know what the reality is but listening to your heart, reasoning and experiencing are all legitimate ways to identify reality if used carefully. There are many smart people who will agree with either of us, that only shows that intellect is necessary but not sufficient to explain what we are.

@@robertodelgado2542 Isn’t that convenient, avoiding personal experiences? It’s a Christian defence of the indefensible- God’s fickleness in terms of those he chooses to bless and those who spend their entire existence struggling to find the basics- clean water,food, shelter, peace. The point is not personal experiences- it’s what the devastating inequity between human experience tells us about god. Not merciful, not loving. Is the degree of ceaseless, catastrophic suffering necessary? Wouldn’t a smaller degree teach us all that he wants to teach his creation? It is the Christian who faith is based on presupposition. There is no falsifiable precedent for the supernatural. The nature of reality and natural laws however are all around us. To say it is more likely that an entity, an interested, ‘ loving’ entity at that, is the more reasonable cause for Everything is not reasonable-/critical-/logical thinking. I expect more of myself.

I'm glad to hear stories like this. Because I also went to God when I was really desperate and nothing else was working, and what happened was also immediate and very obvious to the point where it was at times difficult for me to wrap my mind around. Life will be difficult obviously but things are significantly better now. I will never lose hope again. That might be a bold statement cause I can't see what the future brings but I can't see myself doing that now. At desperate times, prayers I thought were ridiculous things to even ask for were answered for me. Too many of them for me to ignore or look past. It's not easy but I would never go back. The only way I could describe it is I'm still on this imperfect earth and life will still bring challenges, but the darkness has lifted and a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I feel free, and I'm not entirely sure what was suffocating me in the past. I have this unlimited supply of hope at times when I feel like I don't have anything else. God saved my life and continued to make it bearable in situations that would have destroyed me in the past. He gave me the joy I thought I lost. I'm inconsistent, but I'm never going back. I would never want to. All the riches I may gain without Him aren't worth what I have now.

I was an atheist for all of my teenage years, the primary reason being intellectual pride and a desire to be different than others. Oddly enough, I still found myself at times meditating with the intention of “drawing energy from the universe”, whatever the hell that means. So part of me still believed in omniscient power. Driving back from a business function six hours away from home, I’d almost been in a fatal car accident that was almost guaranteed to cost me my life. Afterward, I decided to take God (whatever that is) seriously and decided I would look for the truth. I ended up calling and sitting down with a very strong Christian, and he took me through some Bible verses and prayed with me. Six months into this “Christian” and “Bible” ordeal, I started to have doubts about the validity of it all. Meaning I wasn’t sure if my salvation from eternal damnation was legitimate or not, let alone anything the Bible said. After seeking evidence for the historical reliability of the biblical claims, I became so confident in its truth that there is nothing to this day that has shaken my confidence as a Christian. You will take my life before I ever confess away my belief. None of that is going to satisfy your questions, and I don’t know anything that can. But I hope it helped.

@@blitzball4lyfe823 My wife Kumiko and I have also reached out and asked and we have had a life blessed with signs, overflowing with signs. They appeared not only in dreams but they are tangible. Anybody can see and examine them for themselves. Why us? I have forever been trying to reconcile science with spirit and as for my wife, she comes from a long line of bizenyaki potters in Japan determined to produce art and function, from earth (clay) in a similar way that God was determined to produce Man. My grandfather Ed DeZurko wrote his thesis on the origins of functionalist theory as it applies to art and architecture. My father blossomed in mathematics as did his sister sister. (She became a nun.) He left the church and became a unitarian and yet mathematics and story-telling and genetics would provide a fertile background within our family for these conversations of reconciliation to take place. For example if you Google "Immaculate Conception Cemetery Sealy Texas Images" it will take you to an image of the entrance where a large cross can be seen front and center beyond the entry. Below the cross is a gravestone of a deceased priest whose epitaph reads, "Pray for Me." Googling this phrase along with "epitaph" used to take you to a story of a relatively famous English writer who shares the same epitaph. His wife and children decided upon it after he died as in life he had abused them. For some reason the story has disappeared from Google's search results using the key terms. Abusers will cover for one another creating an intricate web of deceit. unleashing war and unrest to cover their tracks. Kumiko's discovery is called 935-qkk. It offers a bridge to the spirit from the awe and reverence we afford to nature and science and creation itself.

The journey she's going on with actually reading the Bible. That's something a lot of Christians are missing. She did not do that worldly sinner's prayer that's nowhere in the Bible. She had a true encounter with God and she realizes it. She has accepted the truth of the gospel and she has the Holy Spirit within her and you can tell by the words she is saying. The Lord has changed her from the inside out. I look forward to following her journey and hopefully more will ask and receive for God to reveal himself to them and be sincere like she was. @@tryphenarose384 You need a methodology by which to assess your alleged “encounter with God”. To claim that it is “undeniable” and “obvious” is to accept another’s personal experience as reality. This would mean you would have to accept the personal experience of those who claim they have had encounters with Allah, Shiva, Vishnu, Odin and all other gods. Why do you not apply John 3:11 to Islam or Hinduism? To use John 3:11-12 to prove anything is to commit an anecdotal fallacy. Please provide a methodology so that I can be sure you have truly experienced an “encounter with God”. We need this in order to rule out confirmation bias, priming, ASMR, crowd conformity and all other psychological factors.

@@Jonas-gl9ke that is a great response Jonas. I know people who claim that “God” changed their life and by observation alone, I can observe that is not true in comparison to who they were before the claim that God changed their life. There also needs to be a methodology for people who say that God speaks to them. I’ve heard people say that God told them to leave the church, because they aren’t being “fed” and then you have past murder cases where you hear people say God told them to kill someone else. I heard someone once say that if any claim can be justified by claiming that you have faith, then it’s stands to reason that faith is not a good reason for believing, especially when it can be used in both good and bad ways.

This was great to listen too. I am doing the same as Mikhaila is doing. Reading the bible daily, and thinking on what denomination I best fit into.
@markd3250 Жыл бұрын
A denomination isn't nearly as important as Jesus. When Jesus says he is the way, the truth and the life, and NO ONE comes to the father except by him, he's telling the absolute truth. I believe that John the Beloved was the closest to Jesus, and the closest to understanding him and his message. Read the Gospel of John, and use it to learn about Jesus. We should read the Bible to study God. Just before he left us to go back to the father in heaven, Jesus gave us a new commandment that supersedes everything else. He said "As I have loved you, love one another." He is the role model of what God had in mind when they said "Let us make man in our image." The Father, Son and Spirit did that together, and Jesus is the personification of that. To obey his command, we have to know how he loved us, and that love is described in 1st Corinthians Chapter 13. That is the straight and narrow path. The one that Jesus said leads to him and to life. You must choose to climb that path, and it's something you do every day. There's no special day for it, or any particular place you have to go to, for God is with you always even to the end of this age. It fits with something else Jesus said: "In everything, do towards others as you would have them do towards you." Best piece of advice ever given to the human race.
