I'd mostly agree with that, apart from the 'no confusion' bit - and that's coming from someone that's been watching live most days and then the tv highlights on top for the best stages and then these stage recaps when they come out afterwards; if Lantern added just thirty seconds or so for a succession of pauses for breath/narrative punctuation, then his stream of conciousness-type blurb would be easier to follow, but then as a seasoned LR fan I know all too well that that's just not his style, and all power to his meter for it.🎩

What’s the conventional prime years for a cyclist? 26/27-32? Or something like that? So if Jumbo supposedly got the best team, this and the few coming years should be the best from Jonas. Anyhow! At first I was like what is UAE doing? Then as they dropped basically everyone on the penultimate climb it seemed like wow, so that's the plan to set Pog up for an attack over that climb. They burned his last domestiques, those guys did a hell of a ride but I bet they aint gonna do much tomorrow.

That was so dumb. Pogacar attacking 50m before summit and then going like he is gonna take some time from Vingegard od descent and Vingegard is way better then him on descent and he stops shortly after he started. Again, so dumb tactics, Pogacar or UAE or both.

@triggamusician2 жыл бұрын
But then again, ever since Jonas took Yellow he didn't attack Pog anymore. He was just there all the time. Every attack was matched instantly. Imho, Jonas could be up by way more than just 2 mins. I guess, he's comfortable with that gap going into the TT on Saturday.
@daskanguru1402 жыл бұрын
@@triggamusician I think he still lacks the confidence to be honest, he certainly isn't a big risk taker and launching a high wattage attack on such a nasty climb always comes a the risk of (slightly) blowing up later on, which is even riskier when your opponent has a domestique flying uphill at 6,5 Watts/Kilo by his side. He probably should have attacked during that position switch situation but its understandable that he didn't
@MeesterJ2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was really really anticlimactic. My soul. The guys in the old days knew better how to make a party. There's an old saying in the Tour: if you can take time (I mean more than 4 seconds) you should do it because you never know what's gonna happen. Jonas should have attacked, Pogi was cooked.

What happens if time difference b t pogacar and vingegaard at start of stage in Paris is eg 13 secs? Do we have full bore gc race stage into Paris? Can attacks start from the gun? If gc riders pogacar and vingegaard can race full bore, from the gun, then wva key in Paris for vingegaard. Pogacar has no such helper Paris Sunday weather: clear, no rain (favors vingegaard), hot at 94 degrees. Pogacar at top of hatevam needs to cut lead to approx 46 secs. It’s an unwritten thing that you don’t race for yellow on stage 21
@mathiasnielsen4082 жыл бұрын
You never race for the overall win on the last stage of the tour. The first half of the stage is usually just one big parade. And the last 80 km's are usually reserved for the sprinters. If Pogi were to attack he wouldn't be able to escape anyway since both Jumbo-Visma and all of the teams with sprinters would chase him down. So after the individual TT on stage 20 the tour is effectively done

To me UAE descent was horribly slow even with Mcnulty almost crashing. Poga should have hammered the slope as this would pressure Vinge to slowdown to not risk any mistake whilst giving as less recovery time possible leading to the final climb. Why Poga waited for Mcnulty in the descent?? Is Poga playing too safe for the last stage??
