Michaela is such an interesting character first off, she has amazing character growth she went from a curious, immature spirit, to a mature, strong-willed, sarcastic yet kind, woman secondly, her relationship with her older brother is pretty interesting and it’s sort of funny how she’s a sweet kind goddess while lich is the equivalent of a demon servant, working for what is basically the demon of gluttony I guess that’s just how siblings are furred is her regaining her lost humanity now for those of you who don’t know Michaela and the other four spirits were originally scientist from the second period who were all tragically killed by a certain evil mask scientist and Michaela along with her other fellow, coworkers, lost their memories and humanity and just seeing her regain her humanity through her relationship with Clarth and ayn is incredibly heartwarming

So SPOILER ALERT but I'm gonna explain the song as well as the story to those who are confused about the event of the series. Pretty much everyone had a horrible fate handed to them. The story starts with the twins being separated at a young age and then reunited and Allen (Len) becomes Riliane's (Rin) servant. Riliane's a spoiled princess and came to rule the kingdom after her mother, the Queen, died and she pretty much became like the spawn of evil because she was selfish and didn't give anything to her people. This part is pretty clear. I don't really want to explain Germaine's (Meiko/Red) involvement because she was pretty innocent through all of this to be honest, even though she knew that it was Allen disguised the princess, that might be the one fault she had. So Riliane was in love with Kyle (Kaito) from the Blue Country but Kyle was in love with Michaela and to be clear, he was actually in love with her. So out of jealousy, Riliane ordered her brother to kill everyone with green hair since she didn't know it was Michaela that Kyle was in love with. This is the part where everyone gets confused. Allen didn't kill Michaela, he was also in love with Michaela so he hid her in the well to protect her because he couldn't go through with killing her. The one who killed Michaela was Ney (Neru), Kyle's little sister. She disguised as Len and killed Michaela and when Len came back to check on Michaela, he found her dead body and was blamed for her death. So the people overthrew the throne and killed Allen, who was disguised as Riliane. We find out later that the person who orchestrated all of this was Kyle's mother who is later killed by Ney. It's all very confusing. Now to explain this song, Michaela was actually a spirit who took the form of a bird before she became human. She was saved by Clarith (Haku) when she was a bird. She wanted to thank Clarith so when she saw that Clarith wanted a friend, she asked Elluka (Luka), the Capricious Sorceress to make her into a human. Elluka granted her wish but told her that if she dies, she won't be able to take another form again, not even as a bird. So her and Clarith becomes best friends and eventually Michaela fell in love with Clarith (yes it is indeed canon) but Clarith only saw as a friend when she was alive. I think in the novel, Clarith realizes that she loves Michaela as well after Michaela's death. Michaela dies and Clarith meets Riliane and discovers that she's the "reason" that Michaela is dead and tries to kill her but couldn't bring herself to because Riliane reminded her of herself before she met Michaela. The boy that she talks about at the end of her song is indeed Allen, there's like a song about it, I forgot what it was though. Michaela finds out after she dies that she is going to be the new Thousand Year Old tree that replaces the current Thousand Year Old Tree so she can't come back to Clarith or get reborn. She makes a request to Elluka to meet Clarith again for one last time, Elluka grants that request. Michaela then confesses her feelings to Clarith (this is when Clarith realizes that she loves Michaela back) and tells Clarith the truth about who she is and everything. I don't know for sure but I think they kiss before Michaela has to leave. That's pretty much it. It's a brilliantly told story and very well written but it can be confusing from just the songs. You gotta read the novels or manga to fill in a lot of the details. I'm sorry if the explanation sucked, I tried my best but it's like 6:30 in the morning and I haven't slept so my word skills are a bit lacking right now.

pretty late but i think Clarith loved her even before Michaela died, She tried to get rid of Kyle in all sorts of ways but failed and had all of it backfire , Last thing she did was get drunk on the wine that was meant to be served to Kyle and the others and proceeded to drunk yell at Kyle for not mentioning his engagement to Rilliane, Both Michaela and Clarith were scolded by Thorn because of Clarith so Clarith went to the Mansion's Garden to sulk until Michaela arrived to comfort her and encouraged her to be more open with her feelings, As she opened up she even blurted out and asked if Michaela would marry her and Michaela said she would think about it. This happend before the Green Hunting. :^)

The plot follows Michaela, a forest spirit, who observes a girl named Clarith come and pray for a friend. Curious as to why Clarith is so sad all the time, the spirit wishes to help Clarith, although she finds herself unable to in her current form. After some time, Michaela is given a human form by a "capricious sorceress" so she can meet Clarith and understand her. After meeting Clarith, Michaela enjoys her life as a human, from the village to the city, until she meets Kyle Marlon at a banquet. He falls in love with her and rejects Riliane's proposal. The country falls into warby Riliane's hand. As disaster strikes, Michaela is separated from Clarith, and realizes her feelings for her. Being a human, she cannot revert back into her spirit form, but she resolves to stay in any case due to her love for Clarith. She and Clarith simultaneously promise that if they both survive, they will wait for the other to live in Held's Forest again. The song ends with Michaela lying at the bottom of the well after being stabbed in the chest by a "golden-haired assassin", she thinks of Clarith and wishes her to live on with her last thoughts being: "If only I could be reborn, if I could be reborn..."

There are EC playlists on youtube, both with the in-universe chronological order and with the release order. I personally recommend the release order (cause otherwise some later plot twists wouldn't land and it would all be confusing), but it can also be disorienting to base yourself only on the release order as you may not know when a particular song is taking place. If you find yourself liking the story, Pricechecktranslations on tumblr has translated ALL of the novels (and album booklets, they're often ignored but they are really interesting if you want to know a little bit more without delving into the novels head on).
