Fun fact: Rolling girl was actually the first Vocaloid song I had ever heard. That was nearly 8 years ago now. It's very special to me.

everyone is obsessed with making miku "sound human" and despite how humanlike her intonation is in this tuning, the clarity in the higher notes and the ability to transition between notes with no issue makes it clear its not a human singing. for a long time vocaloid has just been seen as a poor "imitation" of human singing but this is the first time i've thought that it actually transcends what human voice is able to achieve. humans have to breathe, and to transition between notes we have to change the position of our vocal cords. miku doesn't have to breathe, she never has to take pauses for breath and she can sing with any amount of intensity at any time without worrying about breath support. her voice also doesn't come from manually changing the position of anything so she is able to effortlessly able to transition between notes. not to mention the amazing clarity for notes higher than what humans are usually able to sing that clearly, since our vocal cords have to stretch and there is a limit where we can't make the kind of high notes that miku can. that's genuinely impressive to me

As a classically trained vocalist myself, I absolutely agree. That is the appeal of Vocaloid as a musical medium.

You make a great point, but when people praise "human-like" they aren't saying its better because it sounds human, otherwise they'd just listen to a real cover. Its the fact that the tuning allows the listener to hear the raw emotion it produces. It's as if you could feel the deep sorrow of Miku and the lyrics through the magnificent tuning. It feels "Real" not because she sounds like a person but as if she's singing it with all her heart.

This.... Oh my absolute GOD!!!! Rolling Girl is my favorite Vocaloid song, and this.... It takes it to a whole new level. The tuning fits the story of the lyrics SO well, it feels like she's singing to herself while alone, no holding back, all emotions released into her words. The piano in the back being the only instrument really highlights the importance of the piano in the original song, it's the most iconic part of the song, being highly memorable and showing the emotions felt expertly. So when you highlight that by taking away the other instruments and slow it down, it just feels so raw and beautiful. And the ending.... It's the best take I've seen when someone has remastered/covered rolling girl. Instead of it being this huge, intense, powerful use of instruments (which still sounds great, don't get me wrong), you took a huge risk by letting it be carried by the vocals with only a few somber notes from the piano. And it payed off in SUCH an amazing way!!! She isn't happy here, this isn't meant to be exciting, she's not even angry..... she's given up. It's depressing, a feeling of just wanting it to be over. And you highlight it like no other has. Congratulations on doing such an amazing job, you did this song so much justice that it's unbelievable. Have a wonderful day, and thank you for sharing this beauty with the world ❤

The tuning is supremely great! It makes me feel like she’s ready to just burst into tears, but is still trying to stop it. Like, her holding in her tears is the thing that ‘rolling’ represents and her crying and breaking down after all that effort to hold everything in is the end... Although I know that isn’t the meaning of the song, that’s the feeling I kinda get! Also, THE ART IS BEAUTIFUL. mixing just be friends there makes me think she also went through I rough heart break... kinda. Like the girl in My R!

Thank you so much! I suppose many producers are very used to their workflow with V4, also V5 did remove support for some popular plugins such as "vocalistener," which many popular producers use (such as Mitchie M) use heavily to make their unique sound, so it's understandable! It seems to me that VOCALOID as a brand is trying to steer away from the otaku culture that very much defined the company in previous generations - at least in their marketing in the west. If you look at all of their branding for Vocaloid 5 - it's mostly aimed at EDM producers who have no connection to otaku culture - people who are new to the concept of a vocal synthesizer. This can be seen with what I can barely call character art for the actual Vocaloid 5 voicebanks. My goal is to keep the people who were apart of the original vocaloid culture still interested in the latest software - and perhaps with time help people to convince VOCALOID as a company that they shouldn't try an alienate what STILL is their primary consumer base.

I know I already commented earlier, but it's so good❤🔥 miku isn't just a voicebank, she's a light in so many people's lives. She inspires people and she isn't even human. But that's what makes her better. She isn't human. She doesn't have human hatred

the way she sounds to be swallowing crying and pain while she insists on singing over and over. painful but still beautiful.

This actually sounds beautiful. Rather than sounding enraged, Miku sounds like she’s just at the verge of tears. Though it sounds a bit distorted, it overall it’s really good

Man, I think I’ve listened to this at least 20 times now...you’re tuning is absolutely GODLY. Stunning work! I really feel the emotion in my heart when Miku sings, I even tear up sometimes listening to this cover. Rolling Girl was also my very first VOCALOID song, so it holds a very special place in my heart, and this cover just makes it even more special. Again, amazing, amazing, amazing! I hope wowaka Can hear this beautiful ballad up in heaven, I’m sure he’s truly touched by it.

I think you got the Japanese lyrics around 3:20 mixed up with the final verse. Very well done though. Immediately subbed after listening to it.

It took my breath away for the whole time, and so I didn't even notice it until the final chorus, where it usually gets more intense, it instead gets calmer. I love it.

I'll be honest this is some of the most unique tunning for miku I've heard! It really brings out her growl almost making it sound like a rasp at some points I hear genuine emotions this song is a great choice for this!!! The banks as well are a good choice!
