You have way more patience with customers than me man. More power to you! I worked in food service for quite a few years back in the day, and I always started out super nice. Greeting them, smiling, asking how their day was, etc etc because I genuinely cared and love a good conversation or story. But if someone was really being rude for some reason out of my control and would ask for a manager or something after I tried offering a solution I’d literally just tell them “nope, I don’t deal with rude people like you, so now I couldn’t care less what your problem is.” Some Customers have disgusting attitudes. Literally the best feeling ever is verbatim telling a mean one to go f**k themselves right to their face and then just seeing their reaction. Did that a few times and it turned my day around IMMEDIATELY afterwards. Companies that expect their front line workers to take abuse all day are just as bad as the customers IMO. But either way, love the vids! Take care

I’ve worked a cs job where the counter was dumbly faced away from and in front of the check stands, and people will often try to check out with me(it’s tough because tiny counter space, no belt, no bagger, no vertical scanner) complaining there are long lines. Before I check them out I always get on the intercom and page multiple managers to check and they come to me and ask why I did that. I tell them the customer I’m checking out told me we had huge lines so I had to address it. 9/10 they say there’s no lines and it embarrasses the hell out of the customer😂

i’d never ask for a manager unless an employee is really rude. That’s how my mom always taught me cause she worked in the restaurant industry for a portion of her life and she always said it’s more of an inconvenience to the customer to ask for the manager about a small issue. My mom has gone off on employees tho, but she’s only done that when the employee was genuinely rude. For example, one time at McDonalds this employee gave my mom an attitude at first then rudely told my mom that she was being confusing then gave us the wrong order so my mom went in and complained but the employee argued back and my mom asked for the manager, complained to the manager, then left.

This wasn’t at a subway, this was at a Starbucks, and there was this new employee trying to figure out the cash register, and my mom started pulling a Karen and complained. I felt bad, I couldn’t say anything or else I’d be seen as a bad daughter. So, when it was all figured out, I thanked the girl and said that she was doing a fantastic job and to keep trying her best. I did that a couple of times, but the reason why this stood out is because the next time I went back, she recognized me and was doing really well, and thanked me. She was really nice :>
