Having worked in restaurants for eight years, I can only give massive kudos to this guy - friendly, accurate, and well paced, a role model in this industry. Still, I can't get over the fact that Subway uses those plastic gloves, they're proper shit. Nitrile gloves are so much easier to work with, altough more expensive

Imagine how it is for workers at fast food restaurants like burger king and mcdonalds. At subway there's no drive, no delivery, only as many orders at a time as workers, and the food is made directly as the guest orders it immediately, instead of checking from a screen and puzzling together about 10 orders at the same time

props to people who can actually tolerate cash register\prep. My first "real" temp job was last summer as a delivery driver for domino's, man i was glad i had nice coworkers who could work with people and a good manager who understood that not all people are good enough working with customers. I can tolerate driving and delivering the orders but actually cooking something for other people and taking their orders - i had to handle the cash register once and i was sweating crazy and could barely talk but it went okay-ish, the client was satisfied. Long story short good job man, im glad there are people like you out there. I'd rather be delivering orders on time and talk as little as possible heh

working at dominos was hell for me. usually i’m not too introverted, but my social anxiety there skyrocketed. i usually made the food, but sometimes my managers made me answer phones and work the front counter. most customers were so so rude and got mad when i took too long to count their money. and the creepy men that would stare me down behind the counter didn’t help much either

When i worked at domino’s for a summer job, i got lucky and never had to talk at the register. But the heat there was extreme, the hot air just pumped out of the gigantic oven in the middle of the restaurant, right behind me as i made the pizza’s. The job itself wasn’t to hard just very hot and i couldn’t remember the recipes for some pizza’s and such which i asked alot wheither or not i did it right. Everyone else worked with bare hands yet i worked with gloves and even washed the gloves at first for extra precautions. i got blamed for a bunch of pizza’s that were made wrong, yes some where my fault (around 6 pizza’s in total in my entire stay there) But there were some more that weren’t my fault but the manager stared at me as if i did it, and even started talking more harsh to me. Then a new guy joined in and made some pizza’s wrong aswell but i got blamed for them too. I worked for 3 weeks but i worked almost every day. Perfectly on time. In total i got paid around 82/86 euro’s. if i use a random euro to dollar ratio website and put in 86 euro’s it says i earned around 92 dollars. THREE WEEKS!

I worked at subway in my early 20s and there were so many times I was left alone and had like 10 customers in store and 6-8 cars in the drive thru, on top of having catering platters to get done before lunch time. On sub day, 5 of us stayed until 2am cleaning (literally every single piece of dishes that could be used was used) and prepping the store for the next day. Wild times. I don't think subway as a franchise is nearly as busy or "in demand" anymore, could be wrong though. I always remember those hard days whenever I go to any fast food place. It isn't always as easy as boomers try to claim it is.

Pro tips: pre-fold the ham, makes it much easier for when it's busy and also it doesn't come out looking like a mess. Wipe knife before putting them away, then they come out clean. Green knife should be for veg only, red for meat, some customer are strictly vegetarian/vegan. Maybe dedicate one person to pre-oven prep and one for after oven, then you aren't jumping and stealing over each other. If you implement these things your store will run a lot smoother. I had great aspirations of me being a business owner when I’m older, so my advice to people that want to understand the grunt work of being an entrepreneur, definitely work for a Subway that is franchised…BUT find a great owner first. If not, they will work you like a work slave. Trust me. Great video 💯

Yeah i still work at a subway, and i still remember how i got hired, I walked up to the counter, I demanded for them to give me an application, found out it was the manager, she laughed, asked me if I really wanted the job, and I got it that easy.

For me it wasn't the owner per se, as he owned more locations than one, he was a nice guy. It was the manager who made working there unbearable. Fake nice, completely incapable and very disorganized. I also didn't receive my first paycheck and she said I could get it in cash and to call her the next day about it. When I called her, she didn't pick up, told my coworker about it, whose response was "of course she's not picking up, she's on vacation, didn't you know?". When I handed my resignation, she looked at it, said "okay" and went back to what she was doing. Never asked me to return my uniform or anything. For some reason, I was far from her favorite person.

I used to be a trainee at a subway for a month and a half, and it was the only time during a traineeship (I've had a few) where my boss was elated about my performance and wanted to have me under him as an apprentice. Unfortunately I just can't deal with customers. The anxiety of serving customers directly was pretty nerve wrecking on its own, but I got used to it and from that point on, it could actually be nice interacting with people like that. What ruined me were the assholes you come across, and the fact that you have to remain professional even if your impulse is to throw their order after them. With our subway having been located right at a train station, the stress was real, and so was the amount of people with a mouth too big for their own good. Being a trainee, I mostly just did the second half of the video. Companies often like to consign trainees to cleaning duty, or so the cliché goes, and it felt good being involved in the actual work.

About 5mo ago my nephew told me he works at subway in Mi & said he only makes 9.50hr starting off. I felt something was off so I researched min wage& found out for the state of Mi its 'suppose' to start off at 9.87hr. I told him to take that information to his manager to see what he says. Allegedly his manager responded with, 'but if you include tips your making at least 2dollars extra an hour.' My nephew refuted the claim with a simple break down of arithmetic on paper & concluded that even if he made a extra 100 a mo it would still equate to less than $1hr extra. After that conversation the manager &neph decided to come to a consensus that he can get a raise as long as he doesn't share any of the information disclosed this with any of the crew. Short story long he now makes $12hr bcuz he was informed & brought it to their attention& didn't back down. What I got from this was know the ins &outs of your income, don't be afraid to challenge your boss& if a job wants to start you off at less than $10hr in 2021, then keep looking bcuz you can get scammed even by your place of employment.

Lol, as a mexican (i also worked in a subway) mine was $4hr, the owner is really annoying and bad, you have to work for 8 hrs and the tips are really bad too, you get like 0.5 a day, and worst part, yes, the people is really bad too. It was really close to my house if you ask me It was nice that your nephew had some help for this kind of job, it might seem easy, and it is, but the people, sometimes even the team can make it unworthy.

There's plenty of them out there, they just don't get paid enough or don't tolerate bad work place conditions. Side note: It's a quick video also so it's hard to judge their work ethic but as it seems like this person is in charge (PIC) or a manager possibly they could be doing things even better to be leading more of an example but I'm not going to say that in actuality

One thing I love about working at Subway was the strong feeling of community. Since Subway has a huge number of franchises, there's no reason for somebody to leave their neighborhood just to go to Subway. And this leads to having lots of regular customers that you see at least once a week. Being able to build these relationships with the customers Has actually saved me when I got lost in their hood and they saw me and led the way to a familiar place.

I worked at Subway in a mall for 4 years prior to skip being a thing etc, just gotta say I use to have lines from one end of the mall to the other, fuggin ridiculous. I can only imagine how things are now, but the location I worked at was very cramped. At one point I was doing inventory, baking, doing opening shifts, making food orders and I wasn't even a supervisor 😂 Truth is I was just an overly ambitious kid, but the job is rough and I get why some people don't like it. I've also seen some co-workers do some really strange things.

I remember going to the subway for the first time, I had no idea we had to choose bread for ourselves and even the stuff we wanted them to put into the sub. I was so confused when they asked me if I wanted this or that thing in my sub or not, I was just replying with a yes. The experience was not that good for me🤣, but the next time I went to subway I knew what to order. You learn from your mistakes they say.🤣
