Gee is a song of decade, it was released in 2009, SHINee debuted 2008, they just hit 15 years recently, SNSD 15th anniversary and latest comeback was 2022. Back in a day it just was more common to feature other artist in MVs. SNSD collaborated with a few boy groups of 2nd gen since 1st album. And yes they totally made skinny colorfull jeans a trend. I Got A Boy was released same year as Gangam Style, it was a sound style back then. But at a same it was very experimental track with all switches in one songs and opened a new direction for kpop music that we see nowadays.

Yes, I am sure that you had heard "Gee" before. It is pretty much 'compulsory' for every (and I do mean EVERY) girl group, to learn 2 songs/dances as a critical part of their training. Those being "Gee" and Girls' Generations debut song "Into The New World". And, as newly debuted groups normally only have 1 or 2 songs of their own, they will commonly have to do a couple of covers to 'fill out' the many, many small live performances they do whilst trying to get known. And the Girls' Generation back catalogue is an excellent place to start.

I only found out your SNSD/Girls' Reaction today even if I'm checking for new SNSD reactions almost every hour... It seems that YT is hiding your video 🥲. If you haven't check yet, there's actually a 'The Boys' Live English Performance in The Late Night w/ David Letterman. It will give you all the things you can't resist (women, great vocals and dance breaks). btw, thanks for reacting to my favorite dorkie shidae a.k.a. SNSD/Girls' Generation. Fans loved SNSD not only because of their vocals, but also of their unfiltered comedy. You can have a glimpse of it by checking a guide by ohwoowoo 🤣. Hope to see MORE SNSD reaction pls. 👍

Not surprisingly, "I Got A Boy" was (is?) a very polarising song. Some of us loved it from the first listen, but many, many people (including dedicated Sones) took quite a few listens for it to 'grow on them'. Oh, and it is generally accepted as probably the most experimental song in the history of K-Pop. And another little 'tid-bit'. When Jessica says "Let's bring it back to 140", not only is she referring to it returning to 140bpm, but also to the song returning to 1:40 timestamp.

Although - I might argue that Exo's Wolf might be even more polarizing (I'm a huge EXO-L and I still don't know how I feel about the song - although the MV is amazing). TVXQ-BoA-Trax's Triangle also comes to mind.

Gee is such an iconic song (including dominating the charts like no other group song had ever done) - but it created a huge fashion trend. Those pastel-colored pants became a HUGE thing in Korea.

Girls Generation has awesome singers but the dancing leaves me cold. Sure they are all beautiful and talented but I don't get a feel for originality and emotion. However, I have 10 of their songs on my Ipod and I enjoy listening to them. You might look at Lionheart and The Boys (accapella)
