If you have mild leaky valves (with symptoms such as arrythmia, shortness of breath..etc), and you just 'wait and see' - and monitor that the leaking does not get worse - then great! But from what some patients are saying here, just 'waiting and seeing' seem to actually allow their condition to worsen. I suppose the debate here is, do you have surgery to repair your valves nice and early.. or do you wait for the affected valves to become really bad (possibly with an enlarged heart and cords too) before having surgery? I can't think of anything worse than 'waiting' as per a doctors advice, only to find your condition has deteriorated 4-5 down the line, because nothing was done to help the situation.

I went to the cardiologist and had normal blood work, ekg, and chest x-ray. A few months prior, I had a 30-day event monitor that came back completely normal, except for pvcs, which the doctor was not concerned about. Should I be really worried? Great video. I was diagnosed mitral valve prolapse with mild MR 4 years ago. Had another Echo done and was told I have concentric LVH which my cardiologist said is because I am an athlete. When I run I have to start slow and then I am able to build up to a faster speed and have no problems running 2-3 miles. Same with when I play tennis. I have to warm up and then I am able to play at a good intensity. I lift weights, but not heavy. Also my cardiologist said no bench pressing. I have cut out caffeine and sweets and drink alcohol within limit couple times a month as these aggravate my symptoms. Am I at further risk? I am 37.

Also I noticed that when I do cardio exercise my symptoms such as dizziness or lightheadedness feel much better.

@@balramnarine6921 Thanks for your response. I have been doing my exercise routine without any issues for past 3 years. I would suggest you also continue being active and exercising, but at the same time monitor your symptoms.

@@balramnarine6921 I have seen multiple doctors and not one gave me a reason why anxiety disorder symptoms mimics heart related issues so much. Especially, chest pains, shortness of breath and abnormal high heart rate upon slight exertion, or dizziness. Only my cardiologist told me that my symptoms are caused by the MVP and Mitral and Tricupidal regurgitations. He told me that no one will tell you this link between anxiety disorder symptoms and MVP. According to him, anxiety disorder symptoms are just a byproduct of the issue with MVP. In other words, the root problem is actually the MVP. I think people who experience especially the 24/7 shortness of breath and abnormal heart rate upon slight exertion due to supposedly from anxiety disorder is actually suffering from the symptoms of MVP. Perhaps a slightly worse version of MVP. Doctors in the medical field considers MVP in general a non-emergency issue unless until the patient reach a point when they require a surgery.

I was diagnosed with this . I have anxiety and bad palpitations. I wasn't given any medications for mitral heart regurgitation. So is this a disease? I just watched a video and someone labeled the video mitral regurgitation disease. Also can you fly on a airplane with this?
