Thank you Jelle - great info that I definitely will take advantage of. I've used sulfur alone with good success for spot treatments, but did not realize that buds are often infected long before the white discoloration appears.

Hi Jelle. Very informative. I have wiped the leaves of my year-old herry seedling with alcohol. Seems to have worked thus far. Can you provide details on that neat harvest scissors please?

Sounds great! These just came from a local garden centre. I am not sure they are of any known brand or something :(

Just hate mildew and rust. Grew many oaks last year and they all got mildew. Didn't defoliate but sprayed with rose clear. It normally works well, but didn't help. Eventually washed the leaves with a 0.2% of bleach! It did work and the oaks are growing ok this year. I am following you now in removing infected leaves as soon as show fungal infection.

Hi Jelle, could you do a video on the different types of bonsai and practical watering, soil and light requirements, as well as difficulty level? It will be so helpful.

Great suggestion! Have you seen the bonsai for dummies video? It has some of these aspects covered!

Dealing with the same fungal issues regularly. Sometimes, pongam oil based products work, but it ain't silver bullet either. You got me with tiny scissors, I have to find ones. Cheers

Have you never considered using the 'milk spray' method for preventing powdery mildew? I've never tried it myself as the mildew usually appears so late in the season that it doesn't unduly affect the health of my trees.

I tried the Milk spray last year on my oak around May and it work well. This year, nothing

Funny, you talk about Fungus and I have it on my hazelnut. 😂 Do you have a kind of first-aid-kit with for example the sulfur and other treatment for your bonsai at home? If so, this would be a nive video topic. At least for me. Everyone wants to sell you everything. What would u consider important to have a home? Like a top 5 treatment available 😁🤪

Great video! I have a question... What about brown spot. I believe it is a fungus as well? But affects leaves?

Great Video Jelle. I'm going to give the horticultural sulfur a try. I prefer to use the more natural treatments vs. harsh chemical fungicides/pesticides...I don't want to grow a third arm. 🪴🍁😆

Sulphur is natural. It’s even allowed in protocols for organic growers. Just take care to wear a mask when spraying. Even if it’s among the elements our body needs too much of a good thing can cause problems, especially when inhaling is not how to get it.

There are also capsules you can put in the ground which help the tree be resistant to mildew. It really helped one of my moms plant but I don't know if it just washes out of the ground with bonsai soil

I am guessing you are in the USA? Systemic fungicides are not readily available here.
