Geez. I know the criminal tends to be obvious in a lot of cases in these, but given just how *incredibly obvious* Blaise is and how incompetent his son is, it's super easy to assume he just gaslighted the hell of poor Sebastian (?) growing up, which would neatly explains the boy's utter cluelessness. (Or maybe they're both just *that* dumb and it truly does run in the family in this case, which seems more likely for this series.)

It’s always fun to see an American react to the way the law works in Ace Attorney, because it’s actually not a terrible representation of the Japanese judiciary process. In America, as flawed as the system is, the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty, and it is the job of the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, and the defense to disprove the accusation or solidify reasonable doubt. In Japan, the accused is considered guilty unless the defense can prove innocence beyond any possibility of error. Over 95% of trials in Japan result in convictions, and prosecutors really do have as much of an unfair advantage over attorneys as they do in these games

Expanding some of this cuz why not? Gregory is a human. He's literally the only person who's remotely normal in this game, beyond thinking he's in a children's show. Ray is an incubus. I mean, seriously, look at him. Badd is a demon. He's extremely serious and actually competent at his job, and it also helps he was a part of the Yatagarasu in the previous game. Karma is also a demon, more specifically a sort of frozen ice demon (like if Satan in Dante's Divine Comedy had gained ice powers after being frozen). His name in the Japanese text already points his fantasy self in the direction of straight down. He's extremely harsh and cold, and his apprentice is already an ice elemental. -NOT ALLOWED TO SAY HIS NAME- is a human. Presumably. His name implies he might be some form of pheonix-harpy, though. Ema is a sentient hologram, because SCIENCE and LOGIC.

Oh god i cant wait for his reaction to Case 5. I swear the twists on that case get to Professor Layton levels of absurdity.
@sarafontanini70513 жыл бұрын
ehh not really. At least they don't try and explain away a vampire as 'merely' a dude who is immortal with hypnotism powers. Or the fucking crossover where they claimed that literally noone died and the magical fairy tale kingdom was actually a fake city populated by people who were brainwashed and THIS WAS SOMEHOW A MORE REASONABLE EXPLANATION THAN IT JUST BEING A MAGICAL KINGDOM EVERYONE GOT PULLED INTO. I fucking HATED that game's story.
@voltmcvolt17513 жыл бұрын
@@sarafontanini7051 I mean, the whole thing of the PL series is proving a supernatural/out-of-the-ordinary occurrence as something that is plausible within the real world (with mixed results) akin to Scooby Doo, so it makes perfect sense why they wouldn't just handwave it as magic for the crossover when you think about which series are crossing over. Case in point, *SPOILERS FOR AAI2-5* . . . . . . . There is no good explanation for how no one in the entire city saw a giant hot air baloon landing on top of an incredibly famous turist attraction, all the while said turist attraction was also being visited by the president of another country which would surely gather at least ONE papparazzi to follow him through. The whole Lion Baloon murder and the Isaac Dover ice sculpture switch in AAI2-3 are the reasons i argue AAI2 has the most bullshit logic in the entire series. It says something that Sebastian's deductions actually sound like they'd fit in just fine as plot twists the game would use.
@rbxless3 жыл бұрын
@@voltmcvolt1751 SPOILERS FOR AAI2-5 1. Simon testified that he practices flying the balloon, and it's not verified if that's true or false. If it is the case, then the locals would be used to seeing this balloon all the time. 2. When is it stated that the Grand Tower is a famous tourist location? In both of the investigations conducted at the top of the tower, Miles and his assistants are the only ones there. 3. President Huang and Courtney were having a secret meeting, and there was a CAMERA security system that would detect any papparazzi. 4. I think you are focusing a little too much on the negatives, remove the ice sculpture twist and you've got yourself a brilliant story!
@voltmcvolt17513 жыл бұрын
@@rbxless AAI2-5 . . . . . . . 1 - Simon must have landed for a good ammount of time in order to drop Kay off as well as dealing with Huang's body. Being used to the routine or not and specially with the context of the murder, im sure SOMEONE should have brought up the oddity of the baloon landing atop the tower at around the same time Crane died (as there was no indication Huang had died that day thanks to Simon putting him on the freezer). 2 - Fair, while i dont remember any particular statement i assumed as much based on how all the characters seem to point out on being a famous spot for lovers and such as well as being really flashy, you still have a good point however. 3 - You proved that a papparazzi would be caught, not that the mere act of the two gathering wouldn't attract something like that. A "secret" meeting doesn't mean much when you can just be followed around considering how Huang had little to no security on him at the time. 4 - That applies to every story period. AAI2 is not so special it warrants an excuse for how often it slips up with its cases. I have Sebastian as my second favorite character in the series and unlike Jello i think Justine is a really well made character minus the twist on case 4. Doesn't mean AAI2 isn't my least favorite game in the series thanks to how poorly paced and fillery the entire game is (Sebastian might be the best part of the game but you could cut him out completly and the plot wouldn't change at all. Everything he does in the final case is catch the criminal Edgeworth had already caught a case earlier. Complain as much as you want about AAI1 but at least every main character in that game was useful to the plot.)
