Slowdowns were an intentional effect. Which becomes obvious in certain circumstances when it doesn’t kick in. For example, during the credits roll. It’s definitely NOT a framerate performance issue of the hardware given that it does more than this on a regular.

I remember a long long time ago.. I was in my early 20's living in Cape Charles Virginia. This bar I went to had 2 video game cabinets in it. Street Fighter 2 and another. I played SF2 all the time. Pumping Quarters into it. One night I put in a quarter, Picked Sagat and played. I didn't have a clue what I was managing to do, but after months of stopping by this place and playing people and the CPU... I defeated Bison and was met with the special ending and the end screen portrait shot. I realized then what happened. I had defeated all the fighters, with double perfects for each one.... first / last and only time I ever managed it despite trying to recreate that a lot.

What bugs me is that Capcom basically went with the US Rom's of the games in the collection. It explains why the game goes by the 30th Anniversary Collection goes by the subtitle of "The International" in japan, because this is basically what was sent to the US and other markets back in the day. For Street Fighter 2 and ST it's not that big of a deal... But in the case of Street Fighter Alpha 2, it's a rather large lost. The lack of Street Fighter Zero 2 Upper/Dash (known to the US as Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold) is a pity, if only for the rather large balance adjustment (plus Cammy).

There was one guy, a Torres Strait Islander named Lindsay, who was an absolute prodigy with Guile. He had the timing down so well that he could spam Sonic Booms from the corner of the screen ad nauseum until the opponent was defeated. Nobody could challenge him because it was timing and skills beyond anything we'd ever seen on a conventional console. I still wonder what happened to Lindsay and his insane Sonic Booms of Doom.

Hey Max, here's a boss rage idea. How about a huge gauntlet of EVERY arcade mode in the sf collection on the hardest difficulty, and you go from each one to the next game in the collection. Maybe to make things harder, if you fail once you have to start ALL the way from the beginning.
