I appreciate your videos. Many don't understand why I love travel (specifically aviation) so much. They look at me funny when I tell them that I don't mind layovers because it gives me a chance visit and explore airports. Your content proves I'm not the only one. Keep it up! I will definitely be tuning in.

I worked at Dulles for about 3 years while working for AirTran and Continental back in the mid to late 2000's. Probably one of my favorite airports to work at (better if the cost of living in that area wasn't so high).

I grew up near Dulles and always enjoyed visiting, especially after the Concorde started to land there. Wow, so much has been added, which is good because back in the beginning it was known as a giant white elephant that no airlines really used. So glad to see it is now busy and serving national and international flights. But it has become too complex. The first iteration was elegantly simple, like the terminal architecture. All the gates used the mobile lounges to take you to your plane on the tarmac, except for a couple gates downstairs. Ironic that they are now used to take people across the tarmac between terminal locations. Thank you for the great video!

Great video! Glad they still have the original ticket counter signage. I think that is all that's left regarding the original signage there. I know the big flight board is gone. I first flew in there in 1987 on a Delta 737-200 from ATL. Left two days later in another Delta 732 to DFW. Went back there a couple more times in '88, '92 and '06. Things really changed by '06. Missed the mobile lounge trips to the aircraft. However, future generations could still see and hear what the looked and sounded like by watching near the end of "Broadcast News". The flight board can be seen in "The Man with One Red Shoe".

I think this is a fine United Airlines hub and serves as a large world class airport in the DC Area. I wish my upcoming new home airport serves IAD. Also, IAD sits on the county line of Loudon and Fairfax Counties, two of the wealthiest counties in NoVA and the DC Area.

@@MilesByFoot, Fairfax County is #4 on the list when it comes to household income. Loudon County is #1. If you're wondering what are 2 and 3, well, in the Bay Area, Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties are 2 and 3, respectively.

So i am nearing my 2 year anniversary with my loving Swedish gf, and ever since me and her started dating we have talked about visiting each other. Over a year ago the plan was made for her to come here to the Cursed lands of Ohio, but before she could make it here she had to stop at O'hare. Her being over 4000 miles away from home of course would cause lots or stress, so to help her i went into as much detail as i could find about the airport, and the one video i found best for that was your airport walk of all the terminals. In which greatly helped me and my love have an inkling of what to expect and what to do (also may or may not have chosen O'hare again later that year in december because of that video when going to visit her in Sweden) Fast forward to 10 days ago its her second visit, oh and would you look at that, a hurricane just canceled her stop at JFK, looks like Dulles is your next stop conveniently as you just posted this video! So my gf and i would like to say thank you for all the help you have given us in traversing the stepping stones of our world, we hope to see more cozy videos in the future, and for your to have a good year ! safe travels!

I flew out of here a year ago. Getting there was very convenient thanks to the Silver Line - I lived by Reagan Airport so I had to transfer lines but having a reliable subway to get to Dulles was still very helpful! I'm glad you covered it. I do not know what your current itinerary looks like, but I hope you pay a visit to Boston soon. Logan airport is simply massive - I used to visit regularly, and still couldn't make heads or tails of the place!

The Silver Line is a game-changer for Dulles, I'd say; finally pulls it all together! Boston is one of the highest on my list. I was there many years ago, but don't remember it very well, and I'm anxious to get back. It's a frequently requested destination, too!

I truly appreciate this video. I grew up in McLean VA and visited Dulles often when my Dad and other family members would go on trips. I really liked how you presented the airport, especially the scale of it. Prior to 9/11, I remember being able to walk around the airport with essentially no limits. It's closed now, but there used to be an observation deck along the base of the landside terminal control tower that gave incredible views of the runways outside. I did have one question. You mentioned the mobile lounges are being phased out. Is that because of the aero train? Back when I lived in the area, the mobile lounges were one of the highlights of visiting the airport. A neighbor of mine used to help run the control station for them. There was also a news story back in the 1970s where a storm knocked out of the huge glass panes in the landside terminal. Thank you again for letting me what a part of my childhood represented as a special trip and what it's become today.

I’ve been a dc native my whole life, flown out of BWI the most, Reagan a few times, but never IAD. I will be flying out of it next month for the first time ever and I’m excited. I’m quite familiar with the airport already as I have a lot of business there, but I’m excited to finally be a passenger.

C/D gates are the worst. United needs to make the airport fix this concourse. There's no space so the lines overlap when gates are boarding around the same time. No gate has enough space for all the people boarding the flights either.
