@@BRhymesss this is such a misguided take. He is not just trying to reach two individual people. It's important to speak about in a public forum so that it's not JUST two people. The important part is reach more men and helping them understand that Tate is not who they think he is, and they should not look up to people like him. This is way bigger than just these two goobers. I get it, it's exhausting. But no change will ever come if people do not keep putting pressure on people like Tate and their co-conspirators.

I completely agree. I think it’s the approach we need to be taking more often. These guys infuriate me to no end and I want nothing more than to shut them out, but if we don’t try and reach out this problem is only going to get worse and worse. We have to change our approach, because right now what we’re doing isn’t working. We’re angry and hurt and that’s just alienating these guys and pushing them further away. If the circumstances are appropriate and we’re able and willing, I think trying to find ways to have a productive conversation can be helpful. Otherwise I fear for the worst.

When it comes to Bradley, people weren’t so much hateful, as we were expressing it’s literally TRIGGERING for women to listen what Bradley said. I understand we need to keep trying to make people understand, but again, how men are so much more empathetic towards other dudes that say vile things than towards woman having hard time listening to it, because it’s traumatic and triggering? We were talking with other women in the comments that many cried during that episode, I myself were shaking because it was so hard to listen him excusing Tate even after all those proofs, you talking to him. Yes, we don’t want to keep babying guys like Bradley and make them feel loved when they publicly support r8pist and human traffickers.

yeaah I just flat out skipped the episode bc I looked at the comments and knew it would set me off. I get for a man its easy to feel like someone's a 'nice guy' at heart, but when you've been a victim of abuse and the culture around making sure you shut up and are more mindful of your abuser's reputation than your abuse..... Nahhhhh, you know a 'nice guy' can be the same person who finds your abuse inconvenient and awkward compared to his personal comfort. I don't think he's a nice guy at all, I think he's wilfully and deliberately comfortable with a point in what tate says and while I appreciate ethan trying to reach out, violent misogny is upheld by indifferent and neutral men who can't for a second imagine what it is to be on the receiving end and either benefit or simply can't be bothered to call it out. Having enablers is a core piece of how abusers get away with it.

There gets a point where the truth is not enough, that people are purposefully ignorant bc something about their professed ignorance benefits them and they're comfortable with putting their head in the sand. I'm with you in being disappointed that at a certain point there are no excuses beyond wilfully ignoring the agony and abuse of others solely bc its 'awkward' to confront it. Like yeah? Guess how bad it is for the victims? To be honest i don’t think it was his continued defense of Tate that made us angry with Brad, it was the unwillingness to empathize and his comparison of him, 6’4 white dude living in his car out of choice, to the vulnerability of women overall, not to mention women of color, and those from other countries with zero opportunity. It alienated women to laugh in the face of relating to tht because “I’ve never been that gullible” he’s basically blaming those victims for falling for it. The only way for him to learn that unfortunately is to see how everyone turns on him for that and luckily i think he has enough conscience to actually care…. But agree it needs to stay on H3 platforms it’s unnecessary to bring it to his profiles

My bread and butter when men call women gullible…….young college girl at a big university here and I am anything but gullible, as are most ppl. I am vulnerable in so many ways though. And when women “play it safe” to the nth degree, they are called out for not being trusting and being afraid of everything! I dont take my trash to the dumpster when the sun is not up and I always have pepper spray, I can do all that stuff, but if someone truly wants to SA me, pick pocket me, call in a b threat to my school et cetera, they may just find a way. So nipping this toxicity in the bud at a young age is the best we can do, I am personally not as hopeful for changing minds of grown adults, but hey Ethan can try all he wants.

Love’s take on Adin’s issue with hot tub streamers was KING SHIT. It’s always these weird men like Adin or Tate who are blaming women for men having compulsive issues they could resolve on their own instead of always blaming the women who are providing a service/entertainment
@sleatery8067 Жыл бұрын
While I do agree that it's up to the individual to be above it, and to solve their own issues, couldn't the same exact thing be said for gambling as well? I think the question is not about the right to provide a certain service or entertainment in general. It's about asking ourselves if twitch, as a platform used by very young and impressionable men, is the right place to do/promote x or y.
@lexaluthor5331 Жыл бұрын
@@sleatery8067 I can see the similarities but gambling and hot tub streams aren’t the same thing.. gambling is inherently exploitative. It’s a scam with the sole purpose of profiting off the people who play under a veil of the possibility of winning money. In the context of money, you don’t have to pay women anything to watch a stream. Obviously hot tub streamers (and any streamer for that matter) want subs or donations to support them but you are receiving the service/entertainment regardless of if you pay or not. If you choose to donate or sub to support them that’s fine. Gambling doesn’t provide a service.. it’s…a gamble designed to scam you. If men have a real problem with masturbation and seeing a woman in a hot tub worsens their issue…. They should avoid that stimulus. It’s not the woman’s responsibility to avoid dressing or acting a certain way to assist men with psychological issues. Under this view you could compare hot tub streams to any substance that’s “addictive”. Is anyone blaming bars for selling alcohol? Or cafes for selling coffee? No. We place the responsibility on the individual. Women are providing a form of entertainment and it’s the individuals responsibility to consume it in a healthy way. Also I am not someone who holds the idea that sex work is immoral, so I don’t think this is even an issue. I think companies scamming people out of billions of dollars through gambling is immoral.

@@sleatery8067 and in response to having young men on the platform, (I don’t know much about how twitch works) but they should use age restrictions like KZbin does to try to keep content age appropriate. I don’t think solution is to ban it.

@@lexaluthor5331 first of all, thanks for the well argumented and chill response. It's always a treat when a civil conversation spawns off of the internet. I usually go in without many hopes :) I agree with basically everything you say (even on the solution for the content on twitch) so there is not much here to debate about. The only thing I'm not completely on board with, is considering gambling an immoral thing to do, which is what led me to wonder if the initial argument was the right angle to use looking upon the issue. As far as the Bradley thing goes, I'm a survivor of someone who drugged and assaulted me, who never got caught and went on to be a literal bartender. Yet even *I* am able to put aside my anger and empathize with trying to meet someone like Brad halfway. Because Ethan is right. The real work is done in those frustrating, ouroboros-esque conversations with our friends who are close to getting it. It's tedious, frustrating stuff, but I'm proud of men like Ethan and Hasan for taking on the task of holding other men accountable for survivors like me. Having the conversations is important and theres nothing wrong with asking questions; the issue comes in when the expectation of that emotional labor falls on the victims. Ignorance isn't a cardinal sin, you can't know what you don't know, and it takes some folks longer than others. I'm not saying throw the dude a parade for his allyship, but maybe let Brad cook a bit because he IS coming around.
@chae6449 Жыл бұрын
Yes 🎉 thank you because yeah even though I’ve also been assaulted multiple times throughout my childhood, I still know and understand that this is how people are able to learn by having these uncomfortable conversations. Getting angry with brad even though he was willing to listen is why men who think this way won’t even bother listening. You can’t approach these things from anger now matter how hurt you may be. You also have to empathize even when the other person can’t or won’t.

literally! i don't get this whole notion of being kind and gentle in our critiques of him when he literally spent the entire time defending a r*pist sex trafficker. it's crazy how men will literally stand up and advocate for some of the most heinous, violent crimes against women and then when women respond angrily, we're in the wrong for closing the doors to discourse. huh? what discourse? the discourse wherein i listen to a man defend r*pe and sex trafficking? yeah, no thanks. obviously there's a difference between criticism and hate, education is essential, and no one is irredeemable, but the idea that we should just listen to these people spew their vile rhetoric and respond with respect is absurd. not all opinions are equal. if your opinion is that r*pe is good, i do not respect you or your opinions and i will not pretend otherwise. i will, however, direct you to the information necessary to get your head out of your ass, and what you choose to do from then on is up to you. i won't hold your hand through the process as you continue to devalue my humanity, and i won't ask anyone else to do it either--especially not another woman. i just wish others could recognize that the person deserving of protection in this scenario is the one who is at the receiving end of the negative consequences, not the perpetrator of the harm.

My real issue with the conversation with brad was when Ethan was trying to paint the picture for him as a young 20 year old with no job and no prospects getting coerced, and his response in every instance was “well I just wouldn’t do that. I just wouldn’t fall for it.” And that may be true, but it’s almost like there’s this underlying tone that these women were stupid or something. Here’s the truth, some people in this world were not born very bright, and they will never be as bright as some other people. Does that mean they deserve to be taken advantage of or they’re asking for it because “you should have been smarter!” I mean yeah some girls really do get tricked into horrible situations because they were out smarted by a man, but that’s somehow their fault. They deserve it for being so stupid. It scares me as a woman to know that men out there believe that if I meet the man of my dreams one day and fall in love, even then I still can’t let my guard down because if I do I might get tricked. and people like Bradley will say it’s my fault because I shouldn’t have believed that a rich handsome man would want to be with me. Its my fault because I shouldn’t have fallen in love and let my guard down. I never should have trusted a man. What kind of world do we want to live in?? I feel like this whole Tate situation has all the young men of the world straight up trying to gaslight women into thinking that what he did is not a big deal and the amount of influence he has shouldn’t matter because FREE SPEECH!

Some feedback as an SA and Sexual Exploitation survivor- I think it’s important in conversations like these to prioritize victims rather than remaining neutral or passive. I feel like a lot of times in media everyone loves to talk about the crimes but not find direct support and advocate for the victims and survivors. It’s weird to hear people talk about these hypothetical situation‘s to them when majority of the time they don’t know it’s not uncommon for people to experience, especially with such a large audience. I think H3 does a good job at having supportive opinions for victims but there may be a lack of direct action/advocacy. i’m not expecting any media production to have the capacity to do this regularly but with conversations like this especially for weeks long I think it’s important to consider., which i know they’ve done in the past! When it comes to men like Bradley it’s not that I don’t feel bad for the intolerance they receive, it’s just weird to think someone out there could possibly be defensive to criticism of such severe crimes like these while speaking about us like we’re some uncommon hypothetical situation. I think Hasan did a great job of being tolerant to hear what he’s saying but also correcting him with consent specific language. I commend the work H3 is doing to try to get through to people like this but I do think it’s important to have our well-being be the forefront of conversations like these. One thing I’ve found that helps people understand our experiences more is giving them resources like watching testimony’s of SA and trafficking victims rather than just critiquing the perpetrator. It gives them a more empathetic view rather than an automatic defense especially if it’s someone they know or admire. Discussing us as just unnamed victims in a crime rather than personal traumatic experiences takes away from the complex issues they are. Most people have no idea what exploitation and trafficking are or even what consent is, which Hasan and Ethan have discussed. This is not a criticism of H3 at all, I am a long time viewer and these conversations are hard to have but with H3 growing I think it’s important to have some personal knowledge about what your viewers may be experiencing while watching this, especially as survivors. I’m very glad to have H3 actually covering SA and trafficking cases like this to bring awareness and possibly bridge and understanding to people who may not fully comprehend the severity of this.

I think an issue for women/femmes & sexual abuse survivors- re conversations like the one with Bradley- is that in order to have these conversations with Bradley (potentially Aiden) women have to set aside their humanity. Because these men Do Not Respect or care about women or the safety of women- if they did we wouldn't need to have these convos in the first place! These conversations with men (like Bradley) where you are trying to convince them of the humanity of women/femmes & the idea that we deserve basic human rights (ie to not be trafficked) are shocking to me. Bradley literally laughed out loud in response to some of the things you said & it crushed my heart a bit.. As well as his knee jerk reaction to jump in & say "Well these women are making money!!!" After you had just finished explaining how the victims they were abused & trafficked. We already know that the Nelk boys are incredibly misogynistic & treat women as sexual objects/conquests- the only value they see in them- which is the same thing Tate thinks. This whole issue brings to My mind the Assata Shakur quote "Nobody in the world, nobody in history, has ever gotten their freedom by appealing to the moral sense of the people who were oppressing them." I think it can be hard perhaps as a (yte able bodied cis/het) man to understand this... but I appreciate Ethan & I applaud the effort, the perserverance & for saying he doesnt expect or demand that his viewers hold the same expectations. I Do think with his platform & being a man he has a responsibility to have these conversations with complicit & harmful men, advocating for women & femmes & he does so of his own volition- which I appreciate. I genuinely think you're a treasure Ethan. 🧡

I’m so happy shedder is doing good! I can’t stand the vet I used to take my dogs to. I have two dogs and they are 15 almost 16 years old. My one dog was sick on and off. Her tummy would be upset and she would throw up time to time and she started going pee pee in the house. We took her to the vet and they basically said she was fine, it’s just old age. Flash forward a month or two and we wake up one day and she is not doing good at all. We rushed her to the animal hospital and she was so sick that the drs couldn’t do anything for her. They did t know what the problem was. She passed away and then the vet says they can do an autopsy. We just got the test results back and I guess she had a little kidney infection and then it spread to her liver and her liver and kidneys shut down. It’s crazy because she was acting normal the day before. The vet even took blood work on her and said her levels were all normal. I really think some vets and offices are just in business to get as much money out of a pet owner as possible. Then if you’re lucky enough to find one that cares it really means a lot!!
