His dilemma is that he has Multiple Personality Disorder, so if we choose to not forgive him the personality that didn’t commit murder will be punished as well as the personality that did commit murder. Do we condemn an innocent to get rid of a guilty, or do we allow a serial killer to live in order to save an innocent?

We have only seen him kill 1 person and protector alters don't just hurt to hurt, they protect as we've seen his red alter do. Would now be a good time to mention my "Mikoto was being stalked" theory? Firstly: Mikoto and Kotoko are meant to be opposites of the same theme like how Haruka is the 'child' to Yuno being a 'parent' (or one wanting to stay young and the other wanting to grow up faster, wanting a mommy vs a sugar daddy ect ect) In Harrow, we see Kotoko 'research' her targets, she reads news articles on their crimes, has a map of their movements, we see a lot of eyes because like a wolf she's on the prowl hunting her target. What's the opposite of this? Someone knowing where you live, where you work, watching you every breath you take every move you make, following you One man's investigative journalism is another man's breach of privacy There's a lot of camera imagery in MeMe, creating a feeling of being watched perhaps because Mikoto had to put up a camera for safety? or his stalker put one up to spy? (after all the last act in MeMe is the camera being punched because Mikoto is fed up of being watched) Or maybe it just represents the paranoia created by a stalker Many people picked up the intentional references to American horror movies in MeMe, but having recently watched Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, I noticed that the scene of Mikoto taking his shirt off and having a shower where blood pours into the drain These aren't how the killer is framed These shots are reminiscent of how the victim Marion Crane is shown by the camera as the villain leers at her undressing through a peephole and later kills her in the shower Suggesting MeMe is based in the language of horror movies, but paints Mikoto as the victim, whose privacy is invaded by a peeping stalker (after all we didn't exactly ask consent before turning his memories into a song, how would you feel if pivitol moments of your life and trauma had over 6 million views) Its also worth noting that whilst psychotic disorders are often used as a flimsy motive for villains, the mentally ill are far far more likely to be the victims of crimes like stalking whilst having trouble being taken seriously by law enforcement (who tbh kind of suck at dealing with stalkers to begin with) than they are to be perpatrators of it Secondly: Look at the train station scene. In the background (behind the train) you can see many buildings notably on the right there is an apartment room lit up so you can see inside Possibly Mikoto's? We know from the undercover cards that Mikoto lives in Shibuya Tokyo, and while the stock images usually don't match the written location (Kazui is from Yokohama but his photo is of a balcony in Kyoto, the important bit being the balcony and not Kyoto) Mikoto's image is of an alley in Shibuya, near Ebisu train station. Perhaps his stalker had been able to look inside his home via this train station? We know Mikoto prefers to cycle home even if it means leaving work later than his collegues who need to catch the train, trains in Japan can get packed, perhaps Mikoto feels unsafe on them since someone stalking him could approach without him realising or harass him in some way Sorry my thoughts are a mess but I haven't seen this suggested elsewhere

If we're going by actual DiD standards then their System "Mikoto" was put in jail and whoever the main alter is or whoever was fronting the time they were taken would be restricted. There’s absolutely no way I’m gonna be voting mikoto guilty here. Judging from the lyrics and everything it’s seems very likely that mikoto’s alter(s) weren’t actually evil and trying to protect the host from whatever. And we’re only seeing them as evil due to the out of context snippets we’ve seen and not bothering to look into the context.

This was my interpretation from the start, considering it was already seen in the voice drama that his alter comes out to defend him in high stress situations. The lyrics in the T2 song preview only served to confirm this theory.

i think alot of the reason most of what we've seen of redkoto (mikotos alter) is "evil" is a result of both bluekoto (host mikoto) and himself demonising him, looking at memes lyrics he never really comes across as evil to me ? it's more his own fear and need to protect his system above everything while hating himself for being a burden to the system and "causing" bluekoto to be scared and his actions (the murder) getting them put into milgram i think bluekotos demonisation of him also is bcs blue isn't aware of reds reasoning or almost anything about him other than what we see of him actively realising red exists in meme, bluekoto is very set on being "normal" and actively rejects and is terrified of anything possibly abnormal about him, so the idea of an entire other person (or 3 if you go off the 3koto theory which i personally do) being inside his body sharing existance with him and doing things he has no control over seems pretty terrifying

IMHO Mikoto IS guilty but pushing the blame on his alter (who even if they killed people, they aren't the one being judged right now). The Milgram system recognizes Mikoto as the prisoner while his alter just happens to be there. Mikoto is shifting the blame because it's easy and his condition gives him an easy out. Sure he will have a terrible past, it's mandatory if you have DID, and he'll likely try to play on that, but he's burying the lead to come out unscathed. The alter might be trying to protect him when killing/hurting others... But why did MIKOTO kill someone? He himself threaten us at the end of MeMe. It was his verse, in fact at some point the alter's verse stopped altogether, when he did. The visuals could imply that it was the alter threatening us but I think it wasn't. He's just playing on the possibility that it was them. That or he knows the alter will have to act or will somehow use them to do his bidding. Since they didn't kill Kotoko and simply made her go away, I don't think the alter is as violent as they seem. Not when they have a choice at least. The judgement is about Mikoto and no one else. And as far as we know, he's guilty as Hell. I don't think we'll get his motive yet. We'll likely get it in the third trial as he'll try to use his alter to hide his crime or his alter is hiding it to protect him. Whatever Milgram will do to the prisoners, it won't affect the alter. Therefore the punishment will be made so that only Mikoto gets it, whatever the fuck it is. The current theory is that they're all dead anyway and in purgatory so hey, who knows what'll happen

I’m looking forward to Double. Not only does it sound like a bop, but I can’t wait to untangle the info it provides us. The fact that Mikoto has DID has really been throwing me for a loop because it calls into question the principle of responsibility itself. Are we to treat the actions of each identity as those of two separate individuals, or are they simply two aspects of the same person? If the latter, the next question is to figure out whether or not it was truly self-defense (I personally view it more as stress-release than self-defense, although I guess you could argue it was a defense against self-offing). Yet if the former, if his default identity is not to he held responsible for the actions of his alter, then that really creates a bit of a conundrum for us, because that means we can’t judge him for anything he did. Yet that is very problematic, because the fact that they share the same physical body would seem to imply that there should be some shared ethical burden. Either way, I can’t wait for the MV to drop!

One thing I noticed, is that Jackalope said that they didn't know that Mikoto had DID (?) when they brought him in. Some people have been saying that since Mikoto is the one restrained, and the one who was brought in, that he's the murderer. But I think, that since 'they' didn't know that, they only brought in the 'body' of Mikoto. If they knew, maybe they would have restrained the alter/s. Just something I thought about.

A problem when it comes to voting on him, it's his alter. His alter isn't going to be affected by our vote directly, so if you vote Mikoto guilty for his alters actions, you're not actually affecting his alter aside from stressing him out. MILGRAM will only affect Mikoto (the host, the body), and the closest to affecting the alter is how we treat Mikoto. (This is not very well worded but I hope this gets the point across)

Yeah, but the fact that they're treated as separate people by Milgram might imply that Mikoto himself is actually responsible for at least one death. After all, this is Mikoto's trial, not the other personality. I've seen some people theorizing that he ended up committing at least one murder, but then convinced himself that it must have been his alter as an easy way to escape the guilt/blame.

I was expecting a heavy metal style so I do feel slightly disappointed with this cover sounding diff but we will see with the whole cover. At first I thought Mikoto’s vocals sounded rather “silly” in the cover, but hearing it a few more times kinda made me love it. It kinda sounds like Orekoto (Protector alter) is singing?? Like the feelings of struggle and panic and the pronunciations sound a bit heavier which is different from the usual. It give’s a sense of “help this situation is actually so messed up”. I think my biased self would love this cover no matter what.

私も解離性同一性障害(多重人格)だけど、コントロールなんて無理だし…一応は交換日記してるけどさ(向こうが自分に友好的でコンタクト取れる人には個人的にオススメです) 本体の人格は赦せる…んだよね〜何となく 私は？私も？寝起きとか夜中に主導権持ってかれてて、昔の色々トラウマを感じる物を切り刻んでるみたいだし、私本人もたまーにそれを離人感覚で見てるし… ミコトを赦せないなら、自分への注目のために人を殺してしまったハルカの方が個人的には赦されざる行為だと思うんだよね… 障害は免罪符にならないと思うし、私は障害を抱えて生きてきて、ぶっちゃけハルカとも似た経験してると思うのよ…キャラとは言えども人の辛さまでは理解できないけど…でもやってる事がそれなりの事だから ASDが上手く活きてた頃もIQはジグザグで境界域のもあった… その中で産まれてきた弟は境界域なんて無くて、総IQ103の私と総IQ167の弟じゃほんっとに次元が掛け離れてた 4歳頃から親が取られた感覚だった、ひたすら悔しくて寂しかった、そこがPTSD、鬱病、解離性障害やらのターニングポイントだった ミコトの解離性同一性障害のキッカケ次第で傾くかなとは思ってる セリフ的に

im so excited cause i think thisll be in the pov of mikotos alter (orekoto) . orekoto comes from the fact they refer to themself as “ore” and mikoto uses “boku” on himself ! hopefully this will give more insight on the actual murder sense in MeMe it was just mikoto guessing and demonizing orekoto. from what we know i would guess orekoto wanted to protect mikoto (host of the system), and killed a guy (? maybe their boss) cause said person was causing mikoto stress. i wonder if the third trial song will be in the pov of 3koto (i like to believe mikoto has three alters; mikoto (host), orekoto (person who allegedly committed the murder ; persecutor?), 3koto (person who seems to ‘take care’ of the ‘mess’ orekoto made / makes. also, i hope with the trial 2 VD we’ll get orekotos and or 3kotos names.. or maybe with the interrogation questions with kotoko… ok thats all js wanted to rant :3
