To be fair, not to diss Mahiru or her VA or anything, but her voice does sound more strained in her songs compared to other characters. She raps well, but especially in her second trial song, some parts are so shrill and grating I kind of grimaced from annoyance. It was definitely done on purpose and doesn’t take away from the song, in fact it adds to it because she sounds more desperate! If we take lore and hidden meanings away, though, the rapped parts are certainty the best ones.

i think one of the reasons es doesn't seem to mind mahiru is because she doesn't put herself above them. she clearly values reciprocity. she doesn't treat them like a child the same way that shidou and others do. but she also doesn't act like an immature child herself the same way that haruka or muu do, for example. she does refer to herself as being an "oneesan" in relation to es, but her way of speaking doesn't belittle them or anything. she simply acknowledges the age disparity but doesn't act like it means anything. i think she saw that praising es for being such a good jailor despite their young age at the very start had an adverse reaction and therefore changed the way she speaks and earned their trust that way. it's interesting to see. mahiru may be somewhat sheltered, but i think she's still got this people-pleasing instinct that she may not even be aware of herself.

Mahiru’s definition of love is very different from ours! I believe that she views love as ANY connection with someone, and of course she would take special interest in Es since his role as prison guard and her’s as prisoner sets up a unique relationship dynamic. She doesn’t view him romantically in the way that we ourselves perceive romance, if that makes sense. So no, she’s not a pedophile, her version of love is it’s own entire thing which is why it’s so deeply intertwined with who she is as a person and why she can’t live without it.

ik that im latte but i only started following the Milgram journey yesterday, idk if anyone noticed as in the translation its changed but Mahiru keeps talking in third person,using illeism its intrasting cause its usually used to talk to kids or and used in cartoons so it grabs your attention from what ive gathered lleism may also be used to show idiocy, though it may also show innocent simplicity, its like shes dissociating herself from herself and the things shes done even tho she fully understand when shes capable of and the murder she comited. we also know that she is easily fooled and might have been deprived aa a child in a way and doesnt know the limits of love, i remember reading this somewhere, thats why she easily gets hurt or exited by little things said to her.

Theres a lot from this voice drama to unpack. Mahiru’s basic story is well summed up at 9:02, showing how she wasn’t aware that her “love” was killing her crush/lover. 9:51 is concerning cause it could amply that Mahiru is at a dead end, that no matter how many innocent or guilty votes, she won’t/can’t change who she is as a person, and we either have to forgive or condemn her as she is. 10:23 is scary cause it means that Mahiru is banking her life on her “love”, further pushing that out efforts to fix her toxic love would be put to waste. At the end of the day, our final test with Mahiru will probably be to see even knowing her toxic love and how it can’t change, if we can forgive her or condemn her, banking on her learning from her mistakes (which wouldn’t be likely knowing Mahiru). By forgiving her, we would be rewarding her toxic love with affirmation, but by condemning her we are also denying her entire life’s purpose in her eyes. This is why i still think Mahiru needed her first vote to be guilty, she needed her existence and toxic love to be denied. Of course, we have to deal with the consequences of making her very upset, cause anyone would be upset having their entire life become a lie. Though if we forgave her, things would be much worse since her getting voted innocent would affirm her toxic love. Can’t wait for trial 2 :D

I do think the first guilty was needed, but not necessarily justified compared to others that were deemed innocent, like haruka, mu, and kotoko. Mahiru, haruka, and mu were all in the same boat for me in the first trial. They were all extremely vague about their killings, but unlike mahiru in Mu and Harukas Mvs we saw them being violent. I dont think it was justified that we voted them innocent while mahiru was guilty but I do think it was needed for all three so we could wake mahiru up and see mu and harukas true colors. Meanwhile Futa and Kotoko were in the same boat but the difference was that Futa did his justification online while Kotoko did it in person. That definitely was not justified the way I see it and that mistake almost costed us 2 people.

​@@decent-i-guess While I may disagree about Haruka (I just relate to much with him), I also think Muu and Kotoko were not to be deemed innocent, since Mahirus guilty vote justification was that she had to "learn" that her view of the world was wrong, the same could be said about Mu, since she is confident she is the victim without actually taking the blame for her acts. Also in Kotoko's and Fuuta's cases, I also think they are similar, and while Fuuta suffers from "having a wrong point of view of the world" since he thinks he is a hero, Kotoko is the same and kinda worse (although her victim was more guilty) because she violently killed. Although I think that if Kotoko's background get clearer (like her being formerly a police) it could be more "forgivable".

Also I don't think I explained my first point properly in my og comment but- While I do think Mahiru views love differently, I think her love for es is platonic and she knows that too. Mahiru says she loves everyone in milgram, including Es. She's putting Es on the same category of love as everyone else, and we all know mahiru hates cheating so she's not in romantic love with everyone. Alof of her odd dialogue can be explained by the fact she has poor vocabulary, as she stated. In mahiru's diary it states she just copies whatever anybody else is doing so it isn't a stretch to say her comments like "my heart skipped a beat" is just her coping dialogue from her favorite dramas to express that she's happy

No Mahiru is not a pedo 💀 i heavily doubt the writers would write that in bevause then Mahiru would 100% get guilty every round + the main writer litterally said they tby to avoid writting black and white stories in milgram. 2. Mahiru has a fixation on attention, once shes getting attention she gets very happy- hence her little squel plus the sound of the chair beinf moved. She probably got up or jumped in her seat. Dont make things weird, it wasnt a moan💀 (even if it was a moan, im pretty sure its the case of the writers trying to write fan service into a scene thats tonally inappropriate for it). Her fixation with attention is hinted in her undercover line "i dont want to just give, giving and receiving are both good things". Mahiru wants the effort put in social interactions directed towards her, thats why she likes Es watching over cause she barely gets that in her regular life (as implied by that line and other lines, if anyone wants me to elaborate) 3. Mahiru talks about romance as a way of keeping people on her level during converations, she does this with most characters and even tries talking lovey dovey with Mikoto who she canonically dislikes. Its just her way of trying to understand someone on a level shes comfortably with, its also how shes able to control the convo with Es and sidestep talking about murder fully- she kept the conversation going at her own pace. 4. Its fine to be uncomfortable, but claiming shes like a pedo or something is taking things too far when at most its just odd comments probably added by the writers moreso for the viewer than to imply any romantic feelings for Es, when she treats Mikoto a similar way despite her dislike of him

I think this is really badly written. At least it’s not what I wanted to see represented by her character. @@floppiestshidou there is no reason to believe shes joking since mahiru's profile literally states that she holds "special feelings" for the prison guard. plus after the voice drama, there was a timeline convo with mikoto and mahiru after her interrogation finished - mikoto comments that mahiru looks unusually happy, and mahiru comments that she has a "secret she'll keep in her heart until she's really sure" which is... ehhhhhh i find that Weird after seeing the content of the interrogation itself. even if it is a joke i still wouldn't find it comfortable at all LMAO

Mahiru is not a pedo 😭When she says she “loves” Es, she meant it in a platonic way. She didn’t even know he was 15 until she asked him what was his age.

@@Emiliest-q8n i am sick and tired of repeating this, mahiru's profile Officially States she holds special feelings for es. even after learning es is 15, this does not stop her from making flirty comments towards them - literally the worst ones come from the very end of the voice drama !! literally in the voice drama we are commenting on right now, mahiru: 1. gets excited when es tells her theyll keep an eye on her and says that her heart "skipped a beat" because of it 2. says that she likes hardworking people, following that up directly by telling es that "if they're too kind they might die too" in reference to her crime. you know, her crime being that her love killed someone? she is literally stating that if es is too kind to her, she will fall in love with them, and thus might "kill them with her love" as well. again, she says these things After knowing es is 15 years old! theres also the post-vd convo i talked about above which, while you could make an argument that it doesnt really mean anything, makes me REALLY uneasy in the context of the voice drama. i dont care if its a joke or if she can't differentiate between her platonic and romantic feelings or whatever kind of excuse you want to make, its an inappropriate way to act with a child and im so sick of this fandom acting like its normal when its not. no adult should be talking to a 15 year old that way, even if their intentions somehow Are platonic.

@@meltamorphosisPerhaps. But if you know more about Mahiru, her flirty comments is a coping mechanism of hers. She’s unaware of how creepy her comments are because she’s airheaded and ditzy. This also happened when her victim died since she was unaware of how toxic she was in their relationship. Her twisted and idealistic view of love is her way of coping with things. I’m not excusing her behaviour at all or dismissing on how you feel uncomfortable about her comments, I’m just saying that Mahiru herself is obsessed with the idea of being in love and experiencing love, her strange behaviour even proves that.
