mahiru is heavily coded to be a human “cat”; with the way she constantly pounces on her lover, her cat-like smile and the way she unfurls her “claws” here (2:34), and how she feeds her boyfriend a rat in “i love you” like how cats offer their owners when they think they’re hungry, while in this, her partner is depicted in a bird cage and with blue feathers; he keeps constantly losing feathers out of stress and i think it’s supposed to represent mahiru using him as a “scratching post” and how cats hunt birds. when the last feather falls, he commits suicide and mahiru accidentally “swallows” him in her love.

yeah, basically. notice in her t2 song when her bf feeds the cake to her, it was bite size, meaning that he was careful with his love, he even had his hand under it to make sure the cake doesn’t fall. the cake never turned into rats. as of for mahiru, when she feeds her bf the cake, it was bigger meaning bigger affection… however, it was too much and she didn’t have her hand under it, meaning she wasn’t careful with her love. the cake did turn into rats, meaning that even if she shows affection, it isn’t what her bf wanted. dont u notice on how she listens to magazines? like the person lain that she reads… she is literally taking advice from a magazine, even when love should be handled your way. if u listen to it too much, this is what happens, she basically wasn’t being herself, rather more desperate to where she is taking advice from a magazine too seriously. during her integration with es on the first trial, she said that talking abt urself helps ur lover reveal more. she obviously got that from a magazine, but doesn’t that seem too pushy?

Mahiru is inside a birdcage with her partner (depicted here as bird). Multiple times we see feathers falling, birds shed when stressed, it could be a sign that her partner was getting emotionally hurt over and over by Mahiru. But Mahiru views pain as a good thing- rather, she wants to share everything (including pain) and that's what makes her definition of love. For Mahiru she thought that having "matching pain" and everything was a good relationship but at the end her partner might have k!lled themselves symbolized by that last feather falling. Mahiru woke up to that sight and was completely shocked because she thought everything was fine between them still.

it's important to note that the magazine article texts actually tell the backstory in more detail than the song lyrics do! basically, she has just moved to tokyo (assumedly for university), and she falls in love at first sight with a fellow university student, a guy to be specific - you know he is one because she uses masculine pronouns when referring to him. at 0:23, we get a neat tidbit: RIGHT: “Someday I will become a lovable me! 16 day memorial” LEFT: “MAHIRU’S GIRL POWER INCREASING LOVELY 14 ITEMS” “A mature onee-san figure comes to mind from his outstanding slender silhouette” “Gotta PICK UP the faves ♪” so she most likely changed her style to try and entice her love interest. however, they hadn't talked yet at that point, because at 0:38, day 3, the text reads "The moment our eyes met on the university terrace, it felt like fate. Who knows, maybe I was born to marry him. Just kidding, aren't I overthinking this?" day 4, 0:56: "Running into your crush at a bakery - this must be fate, right? I bought the same bread as him, but I don't know if I can fit in all of these(dk if she means eating or fitting them in the bag)... >< I didn't even think about all the calories..." at 1:04, day 5: "Me and him are now on speaking terms, and he happened to tell me that his hobby is running. Without even thinking about it I blurted out that I was interested in it, and we went running together. Even though I hate exercise... I have never ran that much in my life. I'm beat." so from this point on, they are interacting more regularly. at 1:11, day 6, she mentions taking up a part-time job at a flower shop in hopes of seeing him there. nothing super interesting, so no translating. day 7, 1:18, she mentions that the feelings bundled up in her favourite romance novel aren't something she looks up to anymore, because she is actually experiencing them for herself now. 1:41, day 8, she's waiting for him to finish his part-time work shift to tell him something. obviously implies confessing. afterwards, we get obvious implications that they are now going out - at least from Mahiru's perspective. note the article style change! 1:58, "Regular maintenance is a must! ...It's not like he'll notice though, since he's so insensitive. The beautician in charge today is my senpai in (the field of) love. There's lots to be learned from senpais in love..." 2:12 : "Got invited to his house for the first time. This was my first time going to a guy's house. Couldn't get any food down my throat the whole day... I can barely remember a thing!" and after that, the magazine article text layouts get... a lot more jumpier. like glitched almost. the text is readable, but the size of certain words and parts is changed and it isn't as nice looking as before. 2:47 - "Participated in a relative's wedding. Like always, a bride is so beautiful I can't help but want to be like that! My dream has always been to marry my chosen person. I don't think it's going to stay a dream much longer." 2:54 - "Went out for an outdoor cinema date under the night stars with him. So chic! They were screening my favourite French film, so I just had to invite him. As always, girls in love are the cutest." 2:59 - "Out for hatsumode with him. I decided what to wish for. May we stay together always. May no one get in the way." 3:05 - "Before he comes home, I'll make some dinner and wait for him. I have memorized everything he likes, and cooking is the perfect kind of training! I'm really looking forward to his surprised face." PLEASE don't take any of these translations literally and pay too much attention to specific wording - many of these are translated instinctively instead of literally to keep the mood the same. corrections and additions by other japanese speakers are very welcome another note: the magazine articles also have the typical clothing/item listings at the side, and all of them are listed as "the model/photographed's personal belongings". food for thought!

It's really suspicious that she talks about going to the shrine together but he's not in the picture, etc. While some of the captions have justifications for why he wouldn't be the photos, that could just be a case of a super unreliable narrator (which this series is full of).

Thanks for the translation! I thought they were in a relationship, but the translations would imply that she is just imagining things. Like, she is pursuing him in various ways while he doesn't seem to actively seek her out. She never mentioned that they were going out and I believe that Mahiru is the kind of person that would mention it. What I also find weird is that it's called a 16 day memorial, with each picture being labelled as one day. That looks like 1. this whole story was only 16 days long and 2. that it's something that happened in the past and is to be remembered? To the layout of the articles, like you mentioned they seem to change as the days go on. They might hint on her mental state or their relationship overall. Day 2 & 3: neat font with no background Day 4 - 7: neat font with background Day 8: neat, tilted font, no background Day 9 - 12: neat font with unclean background Day 13 - 16: snippets in various sizes As for the snippets, it reminds me of blackmail letters with cutouts. I also wanted to add that her looking disturbed at the end might not be his death. Maybe he got a girlfriend or fiancée? Mahiru believed that he was her one true love and that whatever happens he would still choose her in the end. Maybe on day 8 the guy rejected her and she still believed that he would come to love her soon. She acts similar to before the confession, but something feels off (the text format is also similar, besides that the background/box is unclean). And after she went to the wedding on day 13 she started to freak out in some sense. She started to seek him out more often, goes on "dates" with him and wishes for their future together. Almost as if she became desperate and scared about losing him.
It’s kind of sad knowing we might never see Mahiru this bubbly ever again :(

I want to vote Kotoko innocent again. My theory is that some prisoners might get to a breaking point sooner than later and Kotoko is probably the one that might impede some incoming murders. Haruka is implied that has no remorse on killing now and might do it again so if voted guilty Kotoko can beat him up back to his depressed self. Mahiru got beated hard and Shidou saved her which put him in Amane's shitlist and might go for him unless Kotoko intervenes. Mahiru is by far the most misunderstood character in all of Milgram, she's the only character where I think the general consensus about what is going on with her is completely wrong. Stalker theory doesn't make any sense, one the video and lyrics make a point to show that they called each other frequently and for long periods of time. Additionally if the bird cage symbolism is to be believed why would the guy feel trapped right after she broke into his house the first time? Stalker theory relies on him barely knowing she even exists so why would he feel trapped? Also why would he kill himself at the end when he could have just called the police, I mean she was asleep at the time it's not like it wouldn't have worked to just call the police. Also something a lot of people are missing is that Mahiru is trapped in the bird cage as well, Mahiru feels just as trapped as the guy, why would this be if she was stalking him?

might be reading too much into her character but my biggest theory is that she has some disorder, possibly bpd? i think the misunderstood "stalkerish" and "obsessive" behavior could be explained by her having an fp attachment. it could also explain her behaviors like wanting to constantly talk to her interest, the "breakup rituals" which could be explained by how people with bpd tend to split on people, why she is alright to be hurt by the love and such, and just generally a bunch of her behaviors shown in the video. it would also explain why she's trapped in the bird cage as well, considering having an fp attachment can "trap" not only the person who is at the recieving end of the attachment but the person with the attachment as well.
@gawk... Жыл бұрын
I think the stalker theory was moreso focused on the fact that they only met a really short while ago. i think it was based on the assumption that they were acquainted/friends but she was secretly stalking him, and he only thought she was just a clingy person? i see why some people believe it but tbh idk what to think about mahiru, we need more information.
Everybody keeps talking about how the falling feathers represent the boyfriend getting overwhelmed by Mahiru's smothering love. But the thing is, the feather was already falling around Mahiru at the start of the song, right before she locked eyes on the guy for the first time. I have to wonder...was the boyfriend doomed to die from the start? Maybe he thought dating Mahiru would make him feel better, but he just "lost more feathers" during their relationship...
I'm actually not good at coming up with theories but I may have something... Not sure though. Mahiru seems to be... not okay (perhaps it's depression or something along those lines): "I don't want to say 'I'm okay'", "I suck at pretending to smile", "This sickness is pretty bad", "but wanting to die because it can't come true". You get the memo. She probably finds comfort in this love, and maybe one of the main reason is because her lover suffers too; "Let's have matching pain"... However their relationship doesn't seem to be very healthy; Mahiru seems to be way TOO affectionate, wanting all of her lover's attention, her love is too much; "Giving you love to the point of pulling you down", "I'm calling you the middle of the night", "Forcing you to wake up". Maybe she's aware this is not healthy but doesn't want it to change; "I was happy to get hurt", "I don't want to be 'okay'". Why exactly doesn't she wants to get better, I'm not sure, either her relationship is a unhealthy coping mechanism or maybe because she actually wants to control her lover, but really I'm not sure. In the end, I think her lover commits suicide, hence her reaction. The feathers might represent her lover, them falling might be a representation of how Mahiru is (unconsciously, or not) hurting them. The cage she is in might be Mahiru being trapped by her own (unhealthy) feelings or her relationship. I don't remember whether it says on her character introduction if she's a model, but either way it's pretty fitting if my theory of "pretending" is right.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking mental health has effects on both Mahiru and the victim here. I think they're both unhealthy for one another, as she is needy and dependent, and, based off some translations, he may be abusing that dependency, but we'll see how much only with further songs...
"Two broken people will either fit together perfectly, or destroy each other beyond repair." (This is a Two Part Post, I apologize for how long it is) [CW: SUICIDE/TOXIC RELATIONSHIPS] Mahiru's PV joins the ranks of 'obscure and vague' songs alongside Haruka and Yuno. Like the latter two, Mahiru's song is less easy to decipher than say, Mu and Fuuta but in a different way than Haruka. While Haruka's is so unhelpful to the point where it's debated who even died there, Mahiru has a clear victim: her boyfriend (or ex-boyfriend according to some, but for the sake of ease I'm just going to refer to him as her boyfriend). But beyond that, the details are obscure to the point it can be debated any specific way. While I think it's clear that her boyfriend killed himself because of the stress of Mahiru being an abuser, I personally interpreted this video as a classic case of co-dependency. A lot of people see the cage metaphor for the obvious: a place where her boyfriend is trapped by the relationship. There's the blue feathers that flutter to the ground, which symbolize her boyfriend. The blue feathers likely come from the "bluebird of happiness" myth. The song itself reveals that Mahiru indeed views being in love as 'happiness'. "I suck at pretending to smile But see! I feel great because of you." However a lot of people miss the fact that Mahiru is in the cage as well. Most people handwave it as her being trapped by the concept of love, but the fact both Mahiru and her boyfriend are in the cage reads to me as a case of co-dependency: a relationship that is unhealthy on both sides. They're both unable to get out, and they're both people who don't treat each other in a way a healthy relationship should. One of the biggest establishing shots comes at 2:16-2:26, where the animator spends a whole ten seconds highlighting Mahiru grabbing the bars of the birdcage and looking out with a nervous expression, like she wishes to leave. This is followed by her reassuring herself, then turning back towards the cage; back towards her perception of 'happiness' with a smile. It is easier for people in toxic relationships to return back to what they percieve as "safety", than head out towards the unknown. If Mahiru trapped her partner in the relationship by herself, she'd be on the outside of the birdcage looking in. Even if she is willingly in there, I believe Mahiru would have been holding onto the birdcage door, instead of just bars with no visible away of escape. She is equally as trapped in the relationship as her boyfriend. Few people noted the reoccuring idea of "overheating together" and "if you don't hug me, even our hearts will start drifting apart". Yes, Mahiru is overbearing: which is the main theme of the song. But these lines in particular are concerning. I believe that Mahiru was in a relationship where she was taken advantage of by someone who wanted more of a 'friends with benefits' type of relationship, instead of a committed relationship. It seems strange that Mahiru who is more in love with the idea of love to mention specifically "if you don't hug me". Mahiru views the idea of physical affection to be the only reason why her boyfriend is staying with her. Alongside with the use of 'overheat', it leads me to believe that it's an innuendo. In addition, Mahiru and her boyfriend's first date being a bar date is a little forward considering they're both college mates but that may be a personal opinion. While Mahiru wants emotional love, her boyfriend only wants physical love, eventually creating a heavy conflict between them. It is likely that her boyfriend only calls her whenever he wishes for physical affection, because Mahiru mentions that they BOTH feel lonely. Which implies that her boyfriend does call her because of 'loneliness', but when Mahiru tries to establish anything serious, or keep him longer than what her boyfriend would like...her boyfriend would get angry with her for trying to have a serious relationship. "We can both feel lonely sometimes, but wonder if you’ll get angry soon?" This is supported by the fact that we NEVER see the boyfriend visually, outside of the hand giving her coffee in 2:49. The song is just Mahiru, alongside feathers and visuals of her day to day life as she eventually dates her crush. Mahiru is a woman who is obsessed with love, with the idea of romance and marrying and commitment. Thus someone who is far less committal is extremely concerning to Mahiru, because she views her relationship as more than physical affection. Mahiru wants to marry. It's implied to be the first thing that Mahiru sings outside of the chorus: that Mahiru keeps bringing up the potential possibility that they could marry and have a more domestic life together. Her boyfriend doesn't like the idea of commitment (as Mahiru is mostly just a means to an end), so when the question fails Mahiru quickly passes it off as a joke out of nervousness. "I guess we can just say that this feeling is happiness I can’t stop feeling like there’s something missing What do you think? I know it's not the type of question you want to be asked I can’t help myself because I want to see your cute confused face, I’m sorry!" The main theme of Mahiru's character is that "giving and taking are good things". As she mostly gives everything to her boyfriend, from cooking him meals and physical affection Mahiru wishes that he'd show her the same devotion. THIS IS UNHEALTHY. The idea that just becuase YOU give your significant other something means they're obligated to return something is not something I condone because it is a toxic relationship. However the entire relationship is founded on unhealthy behavior, as her significant other likely views her as just an object while Mahiru's obsessive outlook is stifling. (PART 1 OF 2)
@mysophobia23793 жыл бұрын
(PART 2 OF 2) It is likely that this tug of war between the two ideals lead to a negative feedback loop. When Mahiru tried to get her boyfriend to commit, he'd grow more distant. When her boyfriend group more distant, Mahiru would panic and try to ensure that he'd stay around by being more overbearing. When Mahiru was more overbearing, her boyfriend grew more distant. It is difficult to discern exactly what happened during this time period, other than Mahiru attempted to "prove" herself as worthy of being married by cooking her boyfriend all his favorite meals. If her boyfriend broke up with her there which lead to Mahiru becoming more obsessive and her boyfriend being more distant until he killed himself OR if her boyfriend killed himself there is unclear. But the last feather falling to the floor, while Mahiru stares in shock and horror is indicative that the murder was an accident. Mahiru clearly did not intend for her boyfriend to die. Before I get into the last part, I would like to debunk some of the theories cropping up in circles that Mahiru poisoned her boyfriend or attempted to trigger an allergic reaction to force him to be momre dependant on her. With the information we have right now, it's unlikely to be the case. Mahiru is OVERBEARING, not intentionally harmful. She has an idealized lens on love, which makes it difficult to believe that Mahiru would poison someone who she views so highly. Beyond the theoreticals, if Mahiru was planning on poisoning her boyfriend in any capacity to 'save' him it's unlikely that she'd fall asleep. Plus, the death clearly was something she did not intend at all to cause considering how horrified she appears. Mahiru also views herself as a CAUSE of death, not a BRINGER of death. When she warns Es jokingly that "you might die if you get too close to me", it appears to come more from the fact that she views people who care about her as having a good chance of dying by being near her. Not BECAUSE of her own hand. Lastly, the main reason for this argument is the fact that the MV mentions a 'corpse reviver', which is a HANGOVER cure. It makes sense with the context of the diary entry next to it. Mahiru notes that her boyfriend is a lightweight compared to her, or that Mahiru drinks a lot. Her boyfriend got a hangover, hence the 'corpse reviver'. The final part, which I'm attaching at the end because for the record: mental illness is not an excuse for actions. Many of the MILGRAM participants appear to have depression as a theme: Shidou being another apparent example. However Shidou's depression doesn't excuse the fact that he's an organ harvester (see Throw Down theory), and Mahiru's depression doesn't excuse the fact that she was an abuser. However a lot of people believe that relationships can cure mental illnesses in some way, and it's likely that because Mahiru's boyfriend made Mahiru feel happiness to some degree that Mahiru viewed her relationship as a 'cure' for her depression. There are many, many signs that Mahiru is as depressed as her boyfriend in question. "Wanting to know everything about you, but wanting to die because it can’t come true." "I suck at pretending to smile But see! I feel great because of you." Are the main examples. But the aformentioned drinking problem also indicates that Mahiru is depressed in a more subtle way than Shidou or Mu are. Mahiru notes that she might drink a lot more than the average person, and she doesn't get as tispy easily. Excessive drinking often goes hand in hand with depression, and combined with the fact that Mahiru notes that she sucks at pretending to smile, as well as the note that she wants to die if she can't know everything about her beloved leads to someone who appears to be prone to more depressive thoughts. In fact, Mahiru tells Es directly that if she ISN'T forgiven, she might as well kill herself. Becuase Mahiru can only view love as the means to happiness, there are two things which will occur if Mahiru is ultimately found guilty. 1. Mahiru will acknowledge she murdered the person she loved, which goes against everything Mahiru stands for. 2. Mahiru will have nothing to live for, because without love her life is completely hopeless. I don't think that Mahiru saying that she would die if she's found guilty is intended to be manipulative. In fact, I believe Mahiru thoroughly believes that she has no reason to continue if the two points are confirmed. As stated in the traditional quote, it is quite common that unstable people end up in relationships together because it seems to be an 'easy' option for both of them. And either it will work out somehow, or more often end in total disaster. Mahiru and her boyfriend unluckily appear to be firmly in the latter category.

@@mysophobia2379 this is a really, really good analysis! I appreciate how you pointed out how aspects of mental illness can influence actions like this, however I believe she might be suffering from something closer to Borderline Personality Disorder. Im saying this as someone who has it, LOL. It appears as if her (ex)-boyfriend was most likely her FP (favorite person), which is someone that those with BPD rely on for the majority of their affection, attention, and their entire world/life revolves around them, basically. Those with BPD tend to experience extreme and "overwhelming/smothering" emotions, ESPECIALLY ones of love towards their FP which is often seen as grossly obsessive, even though they cannot be controlled. Another point for this, though small, is the scene where she appears to be on the phone fighting with her boyfriend before feeling upset and calling him again to most likely apologize. Though it's a small scene, it's reminiscent of splitting in BPD, where an individual switches between loving someone and hating them (I hate you, don't leave me). I see lots of patterns in her thoughts and behaviors that are often seen in patients with BPD, though of course hers are much more extreme than the average person. Sorry for rambling in the replies, I just wanted to tack on my own theory to your already very good one! :o)

I really like your theory and i also think that mahiru never literally killed anyone or by any means, and by chance i ever watched anime 'Given', and your second part remind me of it, its possible that mahiru boyfriend end up dead after drinking too much because of depression with mahiru being "Overbearing" like in that anime. Since if your theory about the boyfriend being only care about physical relationships make him seems like it will end up him killing mahiru instead of killing himself. However there are also some possibilities that the boyfriend is truly care about mahiru but isnt really ready with intention of marriage, maybe because they are still in college or still focusing on their career, and thats hurt mahiru and in exchange she is Overbearing, there are lyrics about 'ritual breakup' which i think the way that mahiru want to force her boyfriend indirectly to make him want to tie in marriage so they wouldnt break up

The same can be said for mahiru, unless her twisted love is in form of torturing physically until the victim want to die, i dont think it can classified as murdering someone in general
Poor Mahiru. It's definitely not healthy. Her relationship. But she's not a criminal, she didn't deserve what Kotoko did

Translations (Captions of a fashion magazine article) Day 1: "I'll be someone always loved! A 16-day story" Tomorrow's finally a weekend I can relax after college exams. I do a thorough stretch exercise after my bath. I'm just copying what I see, so I wonder if I'm doing it right, I dunno. But I've always gotta be ready. Day 2: "On a morning when something's gonna happen, turning my switch on with a cafe latte" I came to a coffee shop I saw in a magazine. I've always wanted a "one-and-only shop". Because I just came to Tokyo, everything's so fresh and fun. I'd have nothing more to say if only there was love in the air. Sike. Day 3: "Even while studying with a tone of quietness, I attract the start of something new" The moment I locked eyes with him on the college terrace, I felt destiny. Maybe I was born to be with him. Or am I thinking too much? Day 4 I ran into that boy at the bakery. Is this destiny after all? I kinda tried buying the same bread as him, but I can't eat this much... 😫 Wasn't thinking about calories. Day 5 I sometimes chat with him now, and he told me his hobby was jogging. When I exclaimed "Me too!" in spite of myself, we ended up jogging together. But I suck at exercise... I've never run this much before. Phew. Day 6 I started a part-time job at the flower shop I was always curious about. Then oh my gosh, my crush walked past the shop. Will I get to see him sometimes? My job just got more fun. Not only that, every day is fun. Day 7 A weekend where I read my fave author's new book. Love stories have always been my favorite, but they've gotten much, much more fun. The feelings in this book are no longer just a "longing". Day 8: "Operation Ambush in a Casual Outfit" Waiting until his part-time job's over. Nighttime's a bit cold, but not a pain at all. Because there's something I really wanna tell him. "Midnight date at a park. The result?" We chatted for hours at a midnight park. When I talk with him, time flies in a blink of an eye. How it turned out? Not gonna say. But can't you tell from my face?

Day 9 A date at a first-time bar's making my heart pound. I learned for the first time that he’s the one who gets drunk more easily. Or maybe I'm just good at holding alcohol? Him getting totally drunk's also cute! Day 10 A regular self-maintenance is essential! Although he's the type of guy who never notices. The hairdresser in charge of me's also my love guru. So much to learn from this sempai... Day 11 Dating at our favorite movie's shooting place! This so feels like Tokyo! Isn't it destiny that our hobbies also match? I feel so different from the girl I was before I met him... Day 12 He invited me over for the first time. I've never been to a man's house before. So nervous, I couldn't eat from the morning... I hardly remember anything! Day 13 Went to a relative's wedding. Brides are so beautiful, I adore them! My dream's always been to marry the one I choose. It might be a dream no longer. Day 14 An outdoor cinema date with him under the stars. They were gonna play a French movie I liked, so I really asked him to come along. Yup, a girl in love's the cutest of all. Day 15 A New Year shrine visit with him. I've already chosen what to pray for. May we always be together. May nobody get in our way. Day 16 Before he comes home, I'll wait with dinner ready. I've jotted down everything he likes, and I've perfectly practiced all the dishes! Can't wait to see his surprised face.

Thank you for the translations! Since a lot of people here are ENG, a lot of things go uninterperated because we don’t understand Japanese! ^^
From the first watch, I think that she was the one invested in the relationship, and at first it was fine for her, but then she wanted her feelings to be reciprocated too. We can't see the other person at all in the MV, and I think her partner is represented as the feathers, easy to blow away and very light, that's how the other part treated the relationship. She seems to be in a cage too, so was she treating the other person as a (bird) pet? There was a slight turn in the lyrics and tone of music too at the middle (1:35 I think), from lighthearted and lovedovey to something a little bit more clingly and demanding, when Mahiru started being frustrated that she was not being loved enough. She starts talking about shared pain and how is necessary to strenghten their relationship, and I think that's when things start turning bad. In the photos of the first days, she seems patient and with a smile, and she is the one who buys things, waits or gives the first step. In day four though, you can see how she is worried and hugging the bread, which could be a sing of being anxious, she is doubting the relationship, but probably think it's her fault for not giving enough love on her part. 2:32 was probably the moment of the 'murder', but I can't seem to know what happened for now. In the call and while singing, she seems the cute, clingly and a little bit tsundere type, but I think what seems to be joke fighting and the lyrics about pain are the crucial part of the murder, the reason why it all went down. In the presentation PV, Mahiru's lines were something like 'I don't just wanna give, I want to recieve too, so it's propably a one sided relationship. Overheat is a word very repeated in the lyrics too, so she probably burned the other person out with all her love. Es's PV showed her strangulating ES, so my theory is she wanted to love the other person so badly she either suffocated them or literally killed them with her hands impulsively. On the other hand, the photos in the video remind me of Umbilical, where every one represented one of her dates, so surely they have their individual meaning too, and Idk yet what could be the symbolism of the cage (she felt trapped?? lol I know that's too easy). I'll have to analyse it more tho, and check out other theories!
@thepinapple88293 жыл бұрын
Considering the fact that all of those are dated, she may have constantly demanded that she SO took her out on dates every day. I'm not sure if constantly demanding the presence and company of your SO is a regular thing that occurs in a relationship, but it's definitely not something that should be done every day.

From what I can get is she's a hopeless romantic who bases love in textbooks and imagination. Mahiru obviously loves love not her lover, she loves her idea of love. Which in this case was too perfect and artificial because she thinks love is what fictional romance has to offer. I assume she's drowning her partner with undesired love since it's implied he doesn't want parts of her affection towards him, shown by shedding feathers that is induced by stress, stress being her characteristics in the name of love. Her face at the ending of pure terror not sadness just scared that her love has brought death to another. Although she's not as guilty of it because she had mentioned if her way of love isn't allowed then she'd rather die meaning she did what she had to for love and it's not her fault he's dead because of it since she did everything for him in the name of love. Love Counter: 11 Mahiru thinks love is the only thing that matters not the person, just love in the air. So whoever accepts it, she's willing to and with that I think after he committed suicide, she searches for a new love. They voted Guilty for the sake of slap in the face although Kotoko doesn't just slap, I'm starting at Trial 2 so I'd vote her innocent.

There is a very clear indication her love reflects the story of ‘The Blue Bird’, seeing as there are constant references of blue feathers. Blue bird represents her ‘lover’ as they’re symbolised as happiness and love which we can see the girl constantly chases after similar to how the blue bird is chased in the story. (We can even see her tackling a ‘body’ of blue feathers). It’s set in a big cage, seeing from the bars, indicating her possessive behaviour/ emotional abuse towards the lover leading them to hang themselves (implied as the feather drops from above at the end) She has indirectly killed someone
THIS ONE GOES SO HARD OMG!!! Kind of think she may’ve misconstrued what love is entirely or she’s somewhat in denial about that they don’t love her back, so what they see as ‘breaking up’ she sees as a ‘break-up ritual’ and that’s normal in a relationship (from her POV) she seems SUPER manipulative possibly trapping them both in her idea of love (the birdcage) and by the end they killed themselves(?) she seems to shocked at the end to have killed them herself imo, and the feathers on the floor and the one falling represents the death happening, due to her manipulation, toxicity and suffocating love that they couldn’t break free of?? IM NOT GOOD AT THIS BUT THIS IS THE VIBE I GOT LMAO-

That's something I don't remember if I posted in UNDERCOVER. Each character has one image representing one moment in their live. Miharu's image are two hands close with each other, lifeless. I suggested she committed double suicide with her lover. After seeing her video, make sense now

@@SKagamine ooooo entirely forgot abt that!! My only question is whether its possible given the fact well, she’s in the MILGRAM, correct me if wrong but would someone dead be able to be present? And answer the questions in reports? They are clearly asked after the death as they relate tO it? Unless its a symbolic she’s killed herself, or once her partner died she’s spiritually died as she doesn’t think she cant live the same w/o them?

@@lisha3864 I review the video and probably she killed her lover strangled. At 2:39 her hands are in a position where I can imagine she's choking someone, and in the end blue feathers blow up. Really... I gonna rewatch all the videos again ._.

@@SKagamine i dont really think so? She seems too shocked when she sees the presumed body, and too relaxed when shes sleeping. I do think her partner commited suicide because of her doing something horrible at the time stamp you provided though
@SKagamine3 жыл бұрын
@@molo1848 So, we have some metaphor here, as I said, her hands appear to be choking someone, but her expression is of happiness. Meaning her not aware that she's the one killing him? Possibility what you mentioned, that was the last trigger to her lover commit suicide.
Looks like at this point, regardless if we vote Guilty or Innocent, the 3rd Trial will have to cover what actually happened on "day 12" , if not "day 16", in more detail. Also through my observation, it seems like every 4 "days" which are within a single page is it's own season. So this relationship seems to have spanned a year (at most). Also I feel like the boyfriend was represented as the feathers, however, is not represented as a "full" bird/person, so it might just be that he wasn't a full person or fully committed to the relationship, or that he was falling apart before the start of this relationship. Another thing to think about is, that the feathers are represented as the Boyfriend, which implies they're a bird in the cage, but also if you know the shape of this birdcage, it's also obvious that the boyfriend is ONTOP of the cage, which I haven't seen be discussed. (That they might've started on TOP/full Control of this relationship(even tho they themselves are falling apart ?)). Also The MV2 looks to be somewhere near "day 16" or after , because the rose-tilt starts with a celebration, which might only mean celebration of a year anniversary (of their relationship ?(or Mahiru's birthday?))
@keslio Жыл бұрын
Someone speculated that the birdcage might be a sea of trees that they are both trapped in as see from 2:18 (she is looking out the cage not in). So maybe he is hanged up, which is why the feathers are falling down.
@keslio Жыл бұрын
Also another is that her and her bf might be homeless and sleeping in the forest and this video might be all of her delusions, until the real thing dawn on her where she is shocked when her boyfriend is hanging from a tree.
