Great review. I saw this one here and there but it never came to my mind that the 9 o'clock is actually a 12 hour counter, which is infinitely more useful than any 24-hour (unless it's at least a nice graphic sun-and-moon indicator, i say). I think that Militado made happier decisions on this specific less-busy design than Baltany, whatever their relation is. Definitely on my list as i'm considering a chronograph next on my collection. Great thorough review and the Baltany comparison is very helpful 👍. I think the crystal and lume on the Baltany is worth the extra, but I prefer the less busy Militado dial 🤔

Glad both exist. If you have the money and you want that little of extra specialness, get the Baltany. Otherwise this is clearly a great alternative. The fact that this watch is $100 is bonkers. Thanks for the great review!

Great review, i'd still go with the Baltany myself. Iv'e seen other comparo's and the higher level of finish, lume and the Crystal are worth the extra cash IMHO. The Militado still punches above it's weigh though.

Interesting. They've changed the hands since I bought mine. My Militado's subdials have silver, unlumed, pencil-style hands. Nice to see they've upgraded to something better. The lume on mine is also pretty bad, so it looks like they've improved there as well.

The VK67 with its 12 hour counter is a much more desirable movement than the VK63 for me. Way more functional and better date placement, allowing for much better dial symmetry. I wish more companies would use it for their quartz chronographs.d

Just bought the Baltany, still in transit. Oh boy! I love this dial so much better than the Type B dial on the Baltany. Oh well... I bought the Baltany only for the crystal and the 12 hour chrono function when compared to the Baltany Type A chrono, that's all there is going for it. I quite dislike the Type B style numerals. If I had known about this Militado Type A existed, I would have jumped on it in a heartbeat. 😢

Militado as it has a no calendar option, and you can choose the strap or band.

I bought the Militado for the better value; there doesn't seem to be much in the lume difference and the crystal is every bit as high quality as the Baltany with slightly thinner AR coating. The crown has a sightly more matt finish which doesn'y shimmer quite as well as the Baltany , but the beadblast caseback with the etched logo is more in keeping with the beadblast overall finish than the brushed back of the Baltany. I decided that I preferred the no date version, as it was a touch cleaner and I also noticed that the sub dial hands are chrome on the no date rather in-filled with white paint on the Baltany date version. Overall, I am more than pleased with the saving of $50 by buying the Militado, rather than the Baltany. Militado seems slightly less pretentious, as it is just the Spanish word for military. Also, one thing I'd like to agree very much is that this watch is bonkers accurate! I bought mine in mid February and it has gained just 2 seconds, so far and it is mid July! I use it to time all sorts of things. I love the 12 hour timing, the sweeping mecaquartz look and the build and attention to detail which is unreal. Perfect beadblast finish, double dome sapphire crystal, 100m WR, screwdown caseback, pushers and crown with ultra legibility, in a great fits all - size case, what is there not to like? Hamilton just need to up their game, big style. To make it perfect for me, I'd get rid of all faux patina and have all graphics crisp white, it'd look like a classy Sinn. Great review.

I saw some other channel comparing the two, and in that case the Militado had some fluff on the dial under the crystal. I suppose that can always happen, but it set my mind on that the quality control might be a bit lax on the Militados...

Certainly from my point of view the Militado was perfect. I have the no date Militado and looking through a loupe the dial was perfect, free of blemishes.

Its a great looking watch but I can't unsee a 1hz second hand even on a secondary register.

I really like the Type B style and I don't think Miltado has that option. Also Baltany has a blue color way that looks nice.

I have the Baltany with the Type B dial and running the VK-67 also. Honestly Steve, the VK-63 or VK-64, both with 24 hour dials…..the ridiculous 24 hour dial is an instant deal killer for me. With the VK-67 available for the same price I wind up amazed that it isn’t the number 1 choice for manufacturers . I think Citizen makes a tri-compax chronograph with a 12 hour totalizer. Now THAT would be a vid (probably DL it!) I would like to see. Thanks for a great review. I almost bought the Militado but I just liked the Baltany better .Fine review Steve. Thanks!

Is the warranty card signed and dated? I have 4 Baltanys and the card is always correctly filled in. There seems to be a convention that reviewers usually skip over that detail; amazing, seeing as that could be your warranty gone.

Somehow I don't like it, it is a mixed bag, not clear cronograph, not clear military, has a teaspoon of a flieger, I don't like it mixing.

It looks great in real life, similar to a Sinn....I'd like one with all white graphics, though. For the money, there is nothing to complain about.

Great to have a fair review of this Militado chrono, and see them side-by-side where the better Baltany crystal/AR works so well. Thats a key difference to decide on!

Not really...I use it as my beater so I wash it under a running faucet and it's been fine, but never submerged it

Swimming in very cold rivers here in Scotland on a rare hot days, I can vouch for the WR in 10 feet deep water. I have had many a watch slightly mist up in similar conditions, but not this Militado, it was perfect. I intend to fully test it in the salty mediterranean sea in September, daily for a week, so I'll report back with my findings. A great watch, so far.

Go with the Baltany. Got 2 of these Militado and neither work right. First one the chrono hand will not stay on. 2nd one chrono won’t activate unless you unscrew all 3 crowns…junk watches.

That's a shame...contact the store, they seem willing to help with issues like this (from the Militado guys on Reddit)
